5-0 out of 5 stars Reassurance deliverd with compassion
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as well as its sequel, Cold Noses Part II. I had just lostmy darling little dog, and Gary's book filled a need in a loving and knowledgeable way. He sticks to Scripture in making his case for the eternal existence of animals, so we know that his arguments are NOT based on thin air but on the user's manual for life, the Bible. However, also in sharing much of himself and his experiences, as well as interjecting some gentle humor along the way, he leaves the reader comforted and secure in the knowledge that he or she will see the beloved dog or cat (or bird or whatever!) again someday. I highly recommend this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars How do we get over our loss??
I lost my beloved, Smokey, while I was ill myself. While I was trying to recoup, Smokey had been getting increasingly feebler. It had been suggested by family that it might be time to "put her to sleep"...But, "NO" was always my answer. How could I?? She was my BEST friend for 16 years. She knew me inside and out and even saved my life. But, I also knew in my heart that it was best as her quality of life definitely declined. So, I did...and, I thought I would never recover.I was inconsolable.I had searched on the internet for something I could read or somebody I could talk to about my loss.Nobody understood, or so I felt, that Smokey's loss was worse than a family member's loss. Then, I came across Gary Kurz's website. It truly was a Godsend that I found him.Gary and I have conversed via e-mail several times. And, each time I began to feel better. My guilt was beginning to diminish. My sadness became lighter.Gary helped me survive...because I was thinking that I just couldn't survive without my Smokey. God has a plan for all of us whether we are animal or humans... and, I believe that Smokey will be waiting for me when it's my time to leave this planet. And, she will be young and sassy and happy her friend has come home too. Thank you, Gary

2-0 out of 5 stars There are better books about animals and the Bible out there
I purchased this book hoping to find examples and interpretations from the Bible providing a positive case on us seeing our beloved pets in heaven. I do think that the author clearly cares about animals and feels they will go to heaven, but many times he tended to get off topic. I agree with 'The Pawsitive Pet Psychic "animal communicator"' about how he apologized too much. He takes three paragraphs explaining how what he is about to say is his opinion and that we don't have to agree with it. I don't see why he needs to do that in his own book. I also felt that he spent way too much time talking about how animals listen and communicate with us. That's fine and all but I thought I was reading a book about if animals go to heaven, not how good a dogs scent of smell is or how to choose healthy pet. I'll buy a book on animal care if I want to know that. All in all I felt a little misslead by the title and assumed it would be primarily about animals in heaven. I was wrong, though, as that didn't seem to be the primary subject. Finally, I don't see how a story about a cat nearly dying from a scorpion sting or a dog almost drowning from a goose is a "humerous" story. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for Beginners
Only new to the horse training realm and this book with it's well laid out structure and diagrams has been invaluable. It is also easy enough for my 12 year old daughter to understand and use.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Must for Every Equestrians Bookshelf
I can never get enough of books with exercises that challenge both my horse and I.This book is one that every Equestrian should have, whether for training purposes or just getting back in shape.Half of the Exercises are really basic and a waste for an intermediate to advanced rider, but then again I guess all horses can use a few lessons in the refresher courses. The last 30 Exercises focus on long lining which I use on all my younger horses. They advance from driving a horse in a yin yang pattern to change direction to Figure 8s and Lazy 8s (just a flatten figure 8). Eventually the horse graduates to haunches in and shoulders in. I find that even more advanced school masters benefit from these exercises.
4-0 out of 5 stars Valuable addition to any equestrian library.
Spice up your ground work with this educational guide and develop a better relationship with your horse in the process. There are often days when we perhaps don't have the time to ride, but instead of just longeing around on the circle we could be more constructive - this book can help you. I find this book particulary useful when starting young horses. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book
This is a good do it yourself book.My dog has separation anxiety and I found this very helpful.I'll keep it handy for other problems as they are encountered.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent resource
I found this book to be a nice overview of aromatherapy for the treatment ofsmall animals. It includes a description of the most useful essential oils, case studies, and some very useful recipies that maxamize the benefits of essential oils and hydrosols. The author is very detailed on how the essential oils should be used and applied. She cautions the use of essential oils on cats. Hydrosols should be used instead. This book also highlights the quailty of essential oils and ready made products on the market. I totally agree with her view. It includes a nice list of suppliers, resources and websites that I have found useful. I found this book to be better detailed than other aromatherpy books for small animals.

5-0 out of 5 stars If your pups could talk, they'd say buy this!
Do some reading. Commercial dog food is a toxic blend of euthanized cats and dogs, diseased livestock, roadkill, artificial flavorings and preservatives. No wonder our dogs suffer from allergies, seizures, cancers...we're poisoning them. This book is great. My dogs have never been happier or healthier. They no longer beg for table scraps.Their coats are shinier and their teeth cleaner.I highly recommend this: for the price of a squeaky toy, you'll have a guide to feeding your dog that's loaded with great and easy recipes.

5-0 out of 5 stars I wanted to take this book apart from the very beginning...
A vegan roomie lent me this book, and I was reluctant to read it, but decided I would, just so that I could have the pleasure of finding the fallacies in it and have something to argue with her about.
5-0 out of 5 stars Sickening Death Factories
There are no more excuses, there is no more room for rationalization if we are to claim "honesty" and "compassion" for our species. The factory farming and slaughter of animals for "food" and other human purposes is a sickness of the soul and it is time to change in favor of logic and compassion. This brilliant book exposes the hypocrisies of being a meat-eater in this day and age and challenges us to admit the truth and to change for the better. If we don't and get angry at the messenger, we only validate the worst fears for our species.

5-0 out of 5 stars Please read this riveting book and pass it on!
"Eternal Treblinka" is a very sobering read. It should be required reading in all high schools and available in all libraries. Charles Patterson's excellent book offers a riveting comparison between our historical and continuing insensitive treatment of animals and the horrific treatment of Jews in the Holocaust.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Insight
This is a good book to help teach those at the "other end of the leash."Information can be direct but most communication is by perception.

5-0 out of 5 stars even with experience this book was worth it.
I've been a professional animal trainer for 20 years and I still found this book very helpful. I was a psychology major in college and knew much of the stuff in the book, but I was fascinated by the way Nicole applies many of the principles for dealing with people, to dog training. Everybody can learn something new from this book, and the tips on dealing with the individual personality types was described in detail and applied to a dog training setting. Even the concepts I already knew about were enforced in this book and it helped me to refresh my memory and once again work on my people training skills...because as they say...it really IS not the dogs, it's the people.

5-0 out of 5 stars I Love This Book!!!!!!!!
I love this book! As a trainer with three years experience, I know that training dogs is much harder than training people. I had heard great things about this book and loved Nicole's other books, so I ordered it. All I can say is it was worth every penny!Nicole's way of explaining things is warm and down-to-earth, and very humorous at times. She gives great pointers on how to work with people in group classes, which helped a lot, as did the section on family dynamics. She also talks about how to work with different personality types like Angry Agnes (I haven't run into one of those yet but I now know what to do if it happens), Unmotivated Mo (have had lots of those!) and a couple of others that were very helpful. I actually caught myself getting tense and frustrated with a client during a recent session and thought of the advice in the book. I changed my body language and vocal manner and the whole vibe of the conversation changed. I was able to turn an almost confrontation into a great communication. I think the reviewer who complained that this book didn't cover training dogs missed the point--it's not supposed to be about training dogs, but about training people. There are plenty of books on dog training but so few instructional books for dog trainers, particularly on this subject. I highly recommend It's Not the Dogs along with all of Wilde's other books!

"Riding Between The Worlds" is an excellent account of the physical, spiritual, metaphysical and emotional connection between humans and horses.I found the metaphysical explanations to be the most helpful and know that I'll keep this book close to me as an inspiration and a reference guide.

This book should be a requirement for every living person to read.Linda's view on horse and human emotions through her clients' experiences is incredible.I have learned so much about myself and others by reading this book.It has definitely improved the relationship between myself, my horses, and other people in my life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Healing Angels with hoofs not beasts of burden
Kohanov's personal rendition invites readers into a world of horses and herds that bring more than just joy rides on a saddle. In the ancient celtic myth there was a goddess known as Epona - the horse goddess ... whose imagery symbolized protection and healing. Kohanov brings the essence of this Irish myth alive as she opens the world of healing horses and equine-facilitated therapy to readers. Horse lovers in particular will love this book. Told in a frank prose and honest voice of a successful music journalist ... Riding between the Worlds is a gallop through our emotions, an avenue of healing, and a trail to a tranquil possibility with our partner equines. Horses have been seen as beasts of burdens for centuries but their role in human civilzation has been profound. Horses are our partners more than anything else ... Alexander the Great and Bucephalus ... are just one example of how our modern world was forged through the hoofs in partnership with man. Kohanov's unique work brings the role of the horse into a new relationship with humankind ... from conquest of other lands ... to an inner triumph ... a victory over the demons that plague our emotional lives when pain goes unprocessed in the body. Horses, in Kohanov's world, are once again capable and active in healing humans through the next stage in our development as a species. This book confirms that animals help fortify the "kind" in humankind.

Being a cat lover - and the proud parent of 3 handicapped kitties - I gasped in delight when I came across CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE CAT LOVER'S SOUL. This anthology combines over 100 stories of love, friendship, mystery, rescues, and more, and each story - anywhere from 2-6 pages each - packs a lot of punch, and enough emotion to have even the most composed person shedding a few tears. If you are a cat lover, this is a can't miss book, that will spend numerous hours by your side. A wonderful anthology that should be shared with the special cat - or cats - in your life.
5-0 out of 5 stars Tear jerker
Keep a box of tissues handy when you read this book. This book will make you cry tears of happiness and unfortunately sadness. From the impishness of kittens to the regal mystery of adult cats, our feline companions never cease to captivate our hearts and imaginations. Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul celebrates our feline friends, and the people who love them, in all their varied splendor: their independence, their msystique, their playfulness, and, yes, even their disdain.
5-0 out of 5 stars The most heart warming book you will ever read!
"There is indeed, no single quality of the cat that man could not emulate to his advantage." Carl Van Vechten

5-0 out of 5 stars The perfect book for the hobbyist
If you're interested in keeping clownfish, this is the perfect book. The author goes into appropriate detail on what is needed to keep clownfish, what kinds of anemones can be kept with them (and their requirements), and how to breed them if you're so inclined.I found the book very easy to understand and not overly burdened with scientific and technical language.I also thought she had a very funny sense of humor that is sprinkled throughout. The pictures are great and she's actually had experience with most species in captivity and is able to make careful distictions to specific characteristics or needs of the different species. Some things I found especially helpful were the chapter on clownfish nutrition (she's really done her homework on that) and the common sense approaches to copepod cultivation for feeding baby clownfish.A great book for those keeping clownfish, even if you're not interested in breeding them.

4-0 out of 5 stars THIS BOOK WAS GOOD BUT I LIKED ANOTHER ONE BETTER
THIS BOOK WAS A GOOD BOOK, HOWEVER, WE WANTED TO GET INFO. ON BREEDING AND MATING MAROON CLOWN FISH.WE FOUND "CONDITIONING, SPAWNING AND REARING OF FISH WITH AN EMPHASIS ON MARINE CLOWNFISH" BY FRANK H. HOFF A BIT MORE ALONG THE LINES OF WHAT WE WANTED TO KNOW.

5-0 out of 5 stars the most important book for aquarium owners
I found this book to be the most interesting and important book in my marine aquarium hobby. The details on the clownfish and anemonies was very helpfull in setting the tank up.The book also carrier the reader into breeding practices, or allows one to stay with collection and enjoyment of marine aqua-scaping.There is also information in this book not found in other resources that helps significantly in enjoying this hobby. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST read
I don't know why there aren't hundreds of reviews on this book, because it's absolutely magic. If you're looking for comfort and evidence, buy it! I am grateful Elizabeth shared her insights with us, readers. As I am in the learning process of becoming an animal communicator myself, I am doing research in reading as much as I can. But first of all I am a grieving person who's animal friend recently died and I am besides myself with grief over this loss. Elizabeth shares her knowledge that all is as it's supposed to be. She enlights, she has such insight, and yet, as a scientifically educated woman, she does not take things for granted. The care-humans (as she calls them) of the pets, deceased or alive, acknowledge her words over and over again. Facts. I read this book of 143 page's in one day, up to late at night. Just couldn't stop. It was one of the most beautiful gifts I received. So just buy it :-)
5-0 out of 5 stars would you like to see how an animal views death?read this book
Judging from the response to this book, not many people buy this book, but a lot of people see the site. That said, I found this book to be quite intriguing.Like "1smileycat", I had to recently put down my favorite pet (in my case, my beloved dog of 10 years).I actually found out about this book from looking at 1smileycat's profile (so thanks :) )and bought it.Severino's book is a nice read and offers an interesting view of dying, death, and euthanasia- all, as the title suggests, told from an animal's point of view.A good read and definite recommendation for anyone grieving the loss of a loved pet.

5-0 out of 5 stars Be open minded while reading this book.
I truely enjoyed "The Animals' Viewpoint on Dying, Death, and Euthanasia" by Elizabeth Severino, D.D., D.R.S, animal communicator.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good book for every dog owner
This was a really fascinating book.I think every dog owner needs a book on dog body language, because if you own a dog you should want to understand your dog.I know so many people who own dogs and just don't understand how they communicate with one another and with us.It is fun to look over this book and then watch your dog, you start noticing things you never noticed before.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book
Helps me explain to clients what their dogs are really saying.Editing needs to be better, but the information is wonderful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lives up to it's promises
This book is everything it was promised to be.I saw an excerpt from one of the chapters in Dressage Today and ordered it.It has beautiful color pictures, is very comprehensive and extremely helpful.I have been riding dressage for 1 year and I know that this book will be a great resource for me for many years.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Dressage Solution!
This is a mammoth book and encompases everything dressage. As a former Dressage and Saddle Horse Judge I decided to purchase this book as it was written presuming readers needed no prior knowledge of the art.An excellent book for someone starting out in this field and also a must-have reference book for the initiated.I do like the way it covers Bits to Saddles and even covers further reading, outfitters and all that sort of nitty-gritty.The one small fault I found was with the item about "on-the-bit".It clearly states what it is, how it should look, above/behind etc, and gives some possible reasons for this - but unfortunately there are no suggestions for exercises to help put your horse on-the-bit.Personally I should have liked to see a section on "how-to-do" and some exercises to help with this manoeuvre to help riders to work along correct lines towards this goal."Commonsense Dressage" by Sally O'Connor gives a beaut description of how to work to achieve this.Otherwise this is an excellent book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have, must keep book!
Occasionally there are books that cross my desk that are so stunning and exciting that everything else is put aside because I'm compelled to read the one that just arrived. The USDF Guide to Dressage by Jennifer O. Bryant is one of those 'must-read' books.
