Great for this price
This is a very good reference book for anyone who is buying their first purebred kitten. There is some background information on Ragdolls, advice on finding reputable breeders, care instructions etc. I have found that most cat books are full of fluff and outdated information, but this book I found actually practical and useful. I loved the color photos. Yes, it is a short book and does not give every bit of information about the breed, and if that is what you are looking for then you will not like this book. But what can you expect from a book of thisprice and size?
Pretty little book.
This is an attractive small soft covered book with many beautiful color photo's of Ragdolls and cute illustrations by Tana Monsalve. Unfortunatly, as a previous reviewer wrote, most of the information here could pertain to any kind of cat. It's generally a domestic cat care book; however,there's a short but interesting "how to" chapter on Cat Shows. It's Not About Any Ragdolls I've Ever Known
This is a generic cat book. Substitute Siamese,American Curl,Domestic Shorthair, or the name of any other breed of cat for the word "Ragdoll" wherever it appears and you've got a "handbook" for that breed. And not a particularly good one,either!Some information is missing or incorrect. For example, there is no explanation concerning the use of killed virus for innoculations-something that every Ragdoll breeder I know insists upon. Missing is information on the slower physical maturation of Ragdolls,that they often do not attain their adult size until three or four years of age and that they remain kittens much longer than some other breeds. The Ragdoll is a unique breed (yes,yes,I know- all cats are unique;however, this book is supposed to be about Ragdolls.),but nowhere in this book do I find any references to the special personality,behaviors,and quirks of the Ragdoll.(As I write this my year old Ragdoll male,AJ,is sitting on the table next to the computer,wondering why I use the word quirks. It's meant in a loving way,my "little" boy.)Actually, this book would be a great deal more interesting,informative, and helpful if the author had consulted AJ before writing. I bought this book hoping to gain insights into the Ragdoll cat-a breed I adore.And I certainly did learn something--how to return a book that was not terribly useful or complete. ... Read more

Excellent!
I bought this book last week, and have had a lot of fun reading it!We added a Ragdoll cat to our family last year, and I had been looking for a good book about Ragdolls!It gives history of the breed's origin, the special nature of the breed, etc.It is just what I thought I was buying.If you have a Ragdoll, or are planning to get one, this will be a fun and useful tool for you!

This book was a real disappointment
The write-up and history sections of each breed in this book are very shallow, not detailed, and in some cases inaccurate.For example, the Chantilly Tiffany breed was NOT listed or discussed.Instead, this book lumps the Chantilly/Tiffany breed together with the British Tiffanie breed (p. 206), which as accurately stated in other books, "British Tiffanies have nothing to do with the American Chantilly/Tiffany breed." The write-up in this book is just plain wrong. Great for the needs of knowing

Great Bok
This book is very informative and helpful.It really gave me alot of ideas about how to breed my cats.Being a new breeder of Ragdolls, it really opened my eyes to what I was doing wrong.I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that has never had experience with breeding.The only thing I found to be not included in the book, was the different breeds.

Not complete but some useful information
this thoughtfully written book has a lot of useful and detailed information on veterinary care of kittens and queens.It is easy to read and should be on every cat breeder's bookshelf; however, I was disappointed that there was nothing about genetics (i.e., dominant versus recessive colors, patterns, traits, etc) which is also a major factor in cat breeding, hence the title is a little bit misleading.
As a new Breeder I loved it!!
As a very new cat breeder I found this an excellent book packed with loads of great, practical info laid out in a very straight forward way.I am even thinking of grabbing a few extra copies for other breeders I know.

Very Good, Very Helpful For New Bengal Owners!!!!
A lot of information that hepls new bengal owners, I would also recomend Guide to Owning a Bengal Cat by Jean S. Mill.

Average Bengal Book
The book has some good pictures and some good information, but some is contradictory. For example, if you buy premium cat food your paying for advertising, etc., but the next sentence reads that when buying cat food, you get what you pay for. Confusing.Otherwise the book tells the positives of owning a Bengal, not the drawbacks.

A good short book on Maine Coon cats
This is a good introduction to Maine Coon cats. Mostly, this is a "care and feeding of" book that could apply to any cat, which is what this book is really for. If you are new to cat ownership and have a Maine Coon, this will get you started. Maine Coon cats is a pretty good book

IF THE AUTHOR IS DESMOND MORRIS, ITS A GREAT BOOK!
I have almost all books by Desmond Morris in regard to cats and dogs in my library and would not part with any of them.This one is no exception and makes a great coffee table book.The information found here is just as implied - info on a vast variety of cats from around the world.There are many other similar books available but few as complete.For those contemplating the purchase of a cat and not sure what type is right for you, this book is a terrific place to start. The book provides a history of various breeds of cats and the characteristics of each individual breed.Any lover of the feline world will not want to miss this beautiful, informative book.

Good information!
Talked about different types of siamese the shape of their heads, colors. Also how their personalities are different from other types of cats. They are quite chatty. The book had some good information on Siamese and regular cat care.

Good General Cat Manuel
The material presented is well-presented for the average lay reader.It's a general over-view of Siamese cats, with a fairly extensive section on breeding.
Good starter book
This book is a good introduction to Siamese cats. My version is somewhat dated as it still recommends FIP and FeLV vaccinations. It also doesn't describe the risks of rabies vaccines. I've yet to find a really good reference book for comprehensive feline health information. Cats often exhibit much more subtle symptoms than dogs. I also would like to find better information on issues relative to purebreds. The Cornell Book of Cats is a good next book, but I'm still searching for an advanced layperson's book. ... Read more

persian catsnew edition is entertaining
This new edition is much more user friendly!It's filled with great information on Persians, like what specific combs and brushes to use.How to give a bottom bath. The lion cut.Not much on genetics, other than genetic disorders, since you can get that anywhere.. And the description of a show hall is right on! And things anyone can use like introducing a new kitten, breaking bad litter pan habits.

Very disappointing book
Having recently purchased a Persian I thought this book would be a great place to start - how wrong I was!Only 2 pages dedicated to their behaviour and understanding them so not much use at all to me really.Also it is important to note that (apparently) European Persians have a tendency to have very different personalities to US ones, also in the US Persians are less likely to be 'extreme' (i.e. flat faced). Not very Persian focused

Cat Information Galore
I just love cats. If it weren't for this book I wouldn't of found any of our kittens' breeds. This lists down probably every breed of cat there is, except wild and extinct cats that is. A Great Little Book

cat fancier's association complete csat book
a very informative book for the cat lover, with bright color pictures, discriptions of temperment , hair color of each cat. a very good book to have on hand.

The Cat Fanciers' Association Complete Cat Book
The book is excellent and a good source for reference regarding breeds.I also found the health information section quite informative, and would recommend it to anyone with any kind of cat.

Not impressed.
I researched this subject online and bought the book, hoping it would provide more information. It does not. Instructions are along the lines of, "you may want to buy a bigger litter box.. but you may not...", with not much explanation. The grammar is poor, there were typos, and the book is obviously cheaply made.
My little Rosie is now Litter Box Trained!
Me and my husband live in NYC and the weather can get so nasty that I recently decided I wanted to litter box train my little Pom Rosie. We purchased this book because it is the only one available on how to litter box train a small dog. I was reluctant at first, but I have to say I am really happy I made this purchase. I followed all the steps in the book and Rosie has been using the litter box with no problems for the past week, I'm so excited!! Cuddleton Kitties Review of a Brit Book
As a British Shorthair breeder I think I wanted more.It has a lot of good general cat info but not much British Shorthair specifics.
Great, but there is still room for a better book.

Good if you have never owned a cat before
The book was well written. Chapters are informative for general information on keeping and caring for cats. however, the book was so general that i think they had a word document formated so all they had to do was insert the word Himalayan before the word cat throughout the book.
Simple & Straight forward
I recently bought a flame point breeder/show quality himalayan kitten and was very interested in what the book had to say. A Terrific Book!

Last Christmas a friend gave me the book, "Catwatching" also by Desmond Morris, and I was so intrigued with the book and the beautiful photography that I began searching for other books by the same author. I finally came across this one and was equally as pleased. Catworld is absolutely fantastic! The coloured photography is exquisite and the book, with just under 500 pages, contains anything and everything you want to know about your feline friends.From big cats of the wild to the various breeds of domestic cats, from the origin of Puss and Boots to cat care, this book contains a wealth of well-organized information, all in alphabetical order. Fascinating book!

MILLS PRIDE
After reading this book and many, many more in my research of the breed for purchase I searched the internet for responsible and reputable "Bengal Breeders" and even though I found a few and corresponded with several over email and phone I also ended up contacting Jean Mill too. I couldn't be happier and now have my absolutely gorgeous Bengal Kitten I named "Nala" that Jean shipped to me. Not only is she a perfect example in description, with an awesome coat and beautiful , stunning features she has a personality to match. She is the most intelligent, loving, playful inquisitive, kitten I have ever seen and loves me and and my pups and friends that visit.

You will love reading this book and savoring the photos!
You need to buy this book regardless if you already own a Bengal, or are planning on purchasing one. The author Jean Mill of Millwood Bengals studied genetics at the University level and was the founder of the Bengal breed. An informative book from an actual Bengal breeder!
