You could write much more extensive book about gouramies and bettas easily. I would have wanted to see much more pictures and more specific information about species. This book isn't bad but it could be much better too.

Not enough
It is concise which is fine and in the beginning has general information that applies not only to Gouramies. Then it describes the various species but there is not enough data about the behavior of each of the species and also not enough information on how to breed. ... Read more

Living With Corucia Zebrata
Prehensile-tailed skinks, Corucia zebrata (also called Solomon Island skinks and Monkey-tailed skinks,) are relatively rare reptiles from the Solomon Islands which are unique in the skink family in that they have true prehensile tails. These tails allow them to move among trees freely, but unlike some reptiles they are not capable of caudal autonomy (that is they can't drop their tails for self-defense.)
Excellent Information!
This was the first book I purchased befor I got my PTS, and I'm very glad I did.It is THE MOST informative one I've found yet, as there is not a lot of information out there on this species.We have been keeping PTS now for 7 years, and have had success with breeding as well.Thanks to the information in this book, our skinks are very healthy and happy critters.I would strongly suggest purchasing this book to anybody interested in PTS. ... Nice pics, poor info
I have a jungle carpet python, Morelia spilota cheynei.The book listed its sci. name as Python spilotus vareigatus cheynei.They have warped their true names, eliminating the Morelia classification.I have seenbetter info in the Barron's series, which I recommend.Here, the pics aregreat, but the info is poor.Do not buy. ... I recommend it for frog owners.
I think it's a good book, however, I was disappointed with the great lack of information provided on the care of salamanders, newts, and caecilians.There is though, a lot of good information on the care of frogs and toads.

Good book for beginners...
This book was helpful when I decided to keep a newt because I was able to find out what I could feed it.It did not give information about a few of the species pictured in the book, but for a beginner there is informationabout feeding and housing that is useful.

The first edition of this book appeared in 1988. This second, "fully revised" edition is essentially an entirely new book.
