4-0 out of 5 stars Cellar space
Its a good coffee table book, Some great photos with good ideas, and some general information for those looking to build a cellar. I'm glad to have it.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great coffee table book
Beautiful pictures, it gives you plenty of things to talk about andthink about if you are planning a wine cellar. This book does not give a lot of details on why things are done the way they are - it is more of an idea book.I've read a few other books on the details of wine cellar construction, so I already knew why things are done as they are in many of the pictures.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Book For 3D Modellers and general Artists
This book is really the reference book for furniture and has a Wide variety of furniture types covered! About 99% of the books pages contain Beautiful and 100% clear Photographs.
5-0 out of 5 stars Furniture by Judith Miller
A few months ago, I found this book while browsing through the shelves at a local bookstore. The fantastic pictures and descriptions in the book ignited my interest in furniture history. This is not a how-to book, but if you want an understanding of the details that are characteristic of particular furniture styles -- as well as some background on the historical, political and social forces that influenced these designs -- you probably won't find a better reference manual.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great new book
This is an absolutely beautiful book. The photography is spectacular, all of the pieces are on a white background so you can really see the details. It has a lot of information accompanying the photos and covers all the major time periods.I would like to use this as a text for the History of Interiors class I teach. ... I e-mailed the publisher to ask for an update of a celebrity address. He was fast with an answer. He also mentioned he has started a new service to autograph collectors. He will answer any question on the subject of autoghaph collecting for FREE!
5-0 out of 5 stars Here's The List of Celebrity Autographs
I have known David Moore for many years and he is the only author of celebrity directories that uses and updates his address list on daily basis. For me, here is a list of celebrities who I have contacted and received autographs through the mail. They are: Sarah Jessica Parker, Bill Gates, Roy Clark, Gillian Anderson, Nicholas Cage, Bill Cosby, James Garner, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Gary Trudeau, Olivia Newton-John, Brandi Chastain, James Watson, Sandra Day O'Connor, Harmon Killebrew, George Bush, Betty Ford, Jimmy Carter, Leann Rhimes, Muhammad Ali, Angela Landsbury, Reba McEntire, Jay Leno, Faith Hill, Tommy John, Tom Hanks, Michael Eisner, Nolan Ryan, Tony Bennet, Colin Powell, Robert Duvall, John Mellencamp, Whoopi Goldberg and many others. If you want excellent results and great customer service, I highly recommend David Moore's book.

4-0 out of 5 stars DXF
The details are good, but the conversion from the Author's Mac-Based PowerCADD to AutoCAD are not that great. It assigns polylines to most every object with a global thickness.I found the DXF easier to work with. The user will have to explode the detail into the more primative objects in order to customize the detail. Finally, the software allows you to review the detail before pulling it up in your CAD software, however, it doesn't work UNLESS you move the details to the root drive. For example: I installed under the default directory C:\Program Files\Architectural Details.I matched the path in the detail program to where they were located on my drive and it did not work. The only way I could get it to work was by moving the DETAILS folder to the root drive- C:\Details.Once I did this and changed the path, it called up the details in the CADD program fine. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Instrument Flying
This book is good if you have your instrument rating, but it is not set up for trying to learn the techniques. Most of the book assumes that you know what it is talking about, but it does offer an entire chapter of a glossery.4-0 out of 5 stars Great for the beginner, Ok for the experienced
When I read this book I was already through with my instrument training, it does contain many great tips and is a very fun quick read. However, I wish I would have read it earlier in my training, the description of the book says it's great for both beginners and experienced but I found it to be written for too large an audience and was left hanging on certain aspects of the book.Overall I did enjoy the book and can see it being of tremendous value to someone who has become rusty, for those that are already sharp this is not a necessary read.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must read for ALL pilots.
Taylor delivers strongly in this timeless book about IFR flight.Whether you are a strict stick and rudder pilot or a more procedural and technical pilot the author clearly spells out the basic premises of instument flight, from the cockpit to ATC.It should be required reading for all students seeking their instrument rating; it was for me.Please take note: this is NOT a complete guide to IFR flight.Rather it is helpful in understanding and reviewing the basics. This should be one of many books read when getting one's instrument rating or CFII. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Packing Iron
Excellent book on period gun leather. It was a great help to me in establishing period items for cowboy shooting.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must gave for the holster maker or shooting enthusiast!
Whether you are a cowboy action shooter, single action shooter, cowboy/ western fan, or like myself a budding holster maker and leather worker, this book is a must have for your library. The photos are wonderful, and it was quite clear the author had done his homework researching the subject. Probably the finest work on holsters and gunbelts to date.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fascinating reference to an oft-neglected subject.
There are hundreds of works describing the weapons used in the Old West, yet those treating the subject of how those arms were carried are few and far between--a handful of articles in magazines and collector's journals that defy easy access on the part of the average reader. Enter "Packing Iron," a single source examining frontier gunleather from early saddle and belt holsters of the early nineteenth century to the end of the cowboy era and beyond (20th century examples from Hollywood and television receive some coverage). The book is copiously illustrated with full-color photographs of historical pieces from a variety of collections supplemented by period images illustrating gunleather as it was worn in both studio and field. For the western historian or enthusiast "Packing Iron" is a fascinating book, and for Cowboy Action Shooting participants seeking authenticity in their interpretaions it is almost indispensable. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT ASSET FOR THE COMIC COLLECTOR
Overstreet is certainly the book to have when trying to access the value of your collection. I only regret that they removed the grading system from this book and have moved to endorsing commercial companies to do this for you. Wizard only care about what is hot right now. All in all, this book is your best bet but alway remember, something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Paperback Poor Quality Binding.
Iv'e had several Paperback Overstreet Guides and after moderate use pages tend to come loose from the binding and the book becomes worthless as a resale not to mention trying to keep it together. The Hardbacks seem to hold up much better and are more desirable as a collector item. For the additional price I find it is worth going with the Hardback version. I have never found Amazon.Comm to offer the Hardback and I don't know why??

5-0 out of 5 stars 'THE' Comic book guide

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent resource for the antique wrist watch collector...
....A thorough explanation of both the history of the wrist watch as well its mechanical evolution.Direct, easy, approachable, yet thorough, with a significant number of illustrations and photos of every description of watch from all the major European manufacturers from the early years thru modern times. If you collect wrist watches, this book is the Gold Standard.

5-0 out of 5 stars In-depth guide meant especially for collectors
Now in a newly revised fifth edition, Wristwatches: History Of A Century's Development by Helmut Kahlert, Richard Muhe and Gisbert L. Brunner, is an extraordinary, high-quality, in-depth guide meant especially for collectors but also filled with fascinating information for lay readers curious about the technological, sociological, and economic factors that have not only contributed to the development of the wristwatch, but made the portable clock an important part of world history. Over 1990 black-and-white and color photographs abound throughout this lavish compendium, which includes extensively detailed essays on the origin of the wristwatch, its distinctive features versus the pocket watch, its basic construction and function, self-winding watches, special types of wristwatches, preservation and care of wristwatches, and much more. Express focus is given to various name brands and types of wristwatches throughout the past century, with many photos, capsule descriptions, and sample prices for classic watches. Wristwatches: History Of A Century's Development is truly an outstanding reference for hobbyists and historians alike.
4-0 out of 5 stars Rise and Fall and the Rise Again of Mechanical Watchmaking
Wristwatches' is an excellent survey of the huge variety of watches thatbeen developed this century. Highlights includes a consise history of thechanges in design over the last 100 years and brief insights into howparticular complications are constructed. However, for the english reader, for this is a translation from the original German editions, it has a fewfaults in it's germanocentricity. All of the historical advertisingmaterial displayed in the book is in German. It would have been moreappropriate to include at least a few english language advertisments as itgives a lot of flavour to such a book. In addition there is a completesection on German wristwatch development which is a bit dry if this is notyour particular interest. A major editorial fault is that the vastmajority of photos have lost their numbering and you are left trying tomatch up the descriptions to each picture. For such a book this fault is apity. However it is still one of the best guides for vintage and modernwatch enthusiasts as it covers a vast range of models with a very useful, and fairly accurate, price guide. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource
Lark has a series of books presenting well photographed, contemporary fine crafts. This book is a good survey of what is being created in brooches (compared to the bracelet book, which is not at all complete or even a small survey of contemporary work and should have been a gallery brochure). If you are teaching in art history or fine crafts areas, this is an important resource for students, collectors, museums, and libraries.

2-0 out of 5 stars 500 Brooches Review
This book, as all others in this series, is put together very well.But...the brooches are the poorest examples of exemplary contemporary artwork I have seen.In my opinion, 98% of the entries are unprofessional in their initial design and completion. Most are unwearable and impractical as brooches and are the farthest stretch of someone's artistic imagination in regards to fine artwork.Putting it bluntly, the bulk of the "artwok" in this book is rubbish.Embarrassing. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Wow...A Great Coffee Table Book for Any Firearms History Buff
Just the pictures in this huge volume are enough to make it worth thumbing through, but the written information is tremendous and the author manages to cover all connections to Winchesters' Fathers, including John M Browning, my personal hero (other than my Father, Uncle, Grandfather and all other veterans of WWII and Korea).Probably not all the information on Winchester firearms and ammo history but all that I can absorb and still have a social life.

4-0 out of 5 stars The lovely Reed
This is clearly the best of the current crop of rod building books. It could do with an index (ther isn't one!), updates on components (The Golden Witch, Bellingers - he carries **everything**, not just reel seats), and additional information on critical processes (straightening glued up rods, filing, scraping, sanding a blank, wrapping, etc.). Overall, though, if you are going to build a first rod this ought to be your first purchase!

4-0 out of 5 stars The most current book on bamboo rod making
Bamboo rod making is one of those crafts with enough twists in the road that most first-timers want as much up-to-date information as they can get before they start. The Lovely Reed ("LR") is both possibly the best single reference on the subject, and the most generally useful book if you are only reading one.4-0 out of 5 stars The modern Bibel for Rodmakers after Garisson
Well, Howelss Book is a must for todays Rodmakers and all lovers of the split cane rods! Shue, he tells not much new in the craftmanship of bamboo rodbuilding, but he shows ( a lot of photos)a simple way to build your own rod. He`s way is noth much another than Garrison describe, but Howells Way is a synthese of old and new formulas! Exelent written and have also a look at his informative taper-section! Better buy the book now - most better books about the rodbuilding are fast out of print! Mabye Howell created the new rodmakers bible?!Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good guide
Good book for someone interested in knowing what they have.It is based on using specific equipment, but does give the biginner a good understanding of what is needed, and how to use it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Pros, but Cons as well...
When I bought this book I was looking for a way to indentify various stones that I inherited from my Grandmother. This book if great if you're looking at selling or profiting from your stones AND willing to spend $$$ in advance to do it. The book basically lists equiptment, where to buy it, how much it costs, etc... and then how to use said equiptment to identify stones. I was looking for something that would help me to identify stones without spending $1000 before hand.
5-0 out of 5 stars A True Gem for Gem Lovers
As a professional Gemologist having studied gems extensively and also someone who helps instruct already certified gemologist, aspiring gemologist, gem and jewelry retailers (many are not gemologists), gem cutters, hobbyist and consumers, I find Gem Identification Made Easy to be a very worthwhile purchase. It is comprehensively informative, accurate, resourceful, inspiring, and articulate as appropriate for the intended audience with a wide diversity of gemological knowledge. And, it's fun! Let's face it, gems, and jewelry containing them, are expensive toys, and though the money used to purchase them are typically discretionary, I don't know anyone who wants to pay for something that is not what it is represented to be. Very good, basic gemological information contained in this book will pleasingly educate the reader of any of the categories above, but can also potentially save the reader from mistakes worth multiple orders of dollarmagnitude beyond the cost of the book (or the recommended basic tools which it explains how to use). The 3rd Edition provides updates that deal with new treatment processes, new synthetics and simulants and gemological evidence that will aid in their identification. I have many reference books on gemology in my library, and I proudly display and use this one. Highly recommended! ... Read more
