Let's do the time warp again!
What a wonderful, nostalgic look at Christmases past.I was surprised to learn that some gifts and traditions came into being 20 years before I was born (1954), and because I lived in Germany until first grade, there were some toys, decorations and treats I never knew existed.

I HATE this thing!
This album is extremely attractive and informative and has storage space for a complete set of 100 quarters (both P and D mint marks for each state). Unfortunately, it's a nightmare to use.

The author is passionate about old houses....but:)
I am so glad I read the book after I bought my turn of the century farmhouse. If I read the book before I started renovating the foundation, roof and everything in between I think I would have been scared away. It's a must read book and if you are as passionate about renovating an old house as the author and myself...lol...read the book and go ahead and buy the house!:)

So you bought an old home?
We purchased this book while living in Watkins Glen, NY. Most of the homes in the area were close to 100 yrs old.That being said, this book turned out to the be the definitive resource we turned to for *anything* house related.The author comes across as being the house expert equivalent of Tom and Ray on CarTalk.Although you can run to it when your ready for a project, I suggest actually reading it.If your serious about owning and maintaining an older house, I promise you will continue to go for this book long after your subscription of "This Old House" has expired...

Absolute Must-Have for any Homeowner!
Not ony does George Nash "know his stuff" regarding construction and the business of restoration, he can actually write!I think this book would be a terrific manual for any homeowner because he explains how things... mechanical and structural... are put together, how they are supposed to work, when you need to repair or replace now and what can wait, what to expect.It is a wealth of information.Normally, I skip around these types of books looking for whatever pertains to the project I'm working on. Such Pretty Pictures of Our Flag.
With the 9/11 display at the local history center, I took pictures of the tattered flag and other quilts and such there and at the Dogwood Festival quilt shows.Always, the flag is a major item in the photography exhibit.

Beginners book
This is a good book for young or beginning coin collectors. It is also a great tool for any coin collector to refer from time to time. The description of the book is accurate. Not worth the money!!!!!!Won't hold the money!!!!
The size of this quarter album is nice, but it doesn't hold the quarters.I am very disappointed in this purchase and even more so in Scholastic who usually provides quality products.What a waste of money for my money!

Great Slugs and Punches
This is the Bible for anyone who collects coins. Look at your coins carefully. You never know when you'll find a coin that has a Wonderful Mint Error. I've found several mint errors in my collection, a couple of which I had varified. Unfortunately nothing really glaring, but did raise the value of a few enough to keep me looking. I haven't looked at 1/3 of my collection. You coin collectors need to have this book.

comprehensive pattern compilation/hallmarks lack
Maybe if there was some way to put all of these people in one room and force them to print one reference book for sterling flatware, then MAYBE, just MAYBE, it wouild finally be complete. While this reference is comprehensive with its coverage of patterns and companies, its hallmark references for getting to that comopany are lackluster, but aA for effort!

This is an excellent book. I buy and sell sterling flatware and wish I had had this book years ago. The author does a superb job. The illustrations are great. I highly recommend this book!

Best Beginner's Book I've Seen
This is an outstanding guide for learning how to throw pots.What sets this book apart from other beginning guides are the photos demonstrating the techniques and the cutaways showing both what the form should look like when properly executed and what the common mistakes look like and why.Other highlights include the clarity of the text, the inclusion of multiple methods to achieve a particular goal (e.g. opening, lifting the wall, etc.), and step-by-step instructions for several projects.While I made reasonable progress in a beginning class, the illustrations in this book really clarified the concepts and resulted in immediate improvements in my technique.I highly recommend it.

"Throwing Pottery Techniques" by Mary Chappelhow is perfect for the beginning potter.The information is not so lofty that the beginner is unable to keep up.Several projects are provided with clear instructions and lots of pictures.The information is easy to follow and very thorough.You will be pleased with this book. ... DISAPPOINTED WITH THE DOCTOR
I recently received this book. I was surprised to see how many brand issues were omitted. Try to find various years of Stadium Club or Fleer Ultra for example. Many are missing. I am not sure if this was intentional or accidental. This book still has a lot of value, but not Dr. Beckett and company's best effort. Really cool pictures
I love looking through this book, Halloween is my favorite holiday and these old graphics make me feel all nostalgic. I even got one of the pictures tattooed on my back shoulder. Cool book.

Best Slots Book I've Read--Needs an Update
I am not crazy about playing slots--but to get free room at the Venetian (LV) I need to put in hours each day, each visit. The Scoblete book is the most informative overall I've read so far on a subject where random chance is the rule. The chapter about which slots are loose was probably good advice--but people don't hear coins falling into the hopper any more--coins have been replaced with paper receipts.Paper payoffs also skew the advice in that excellent chapter on money management. These days most people deposit bills, not coins, into the slot machine and there is no bucket of coins to use or to reserve.Mr. Scoblete needs to revise this book.If he still gambles, I'm sure his well-thought 1994 guidelines would benefit from updating.I would be first on line to buy the new book.The organization and research of "One-Armed Bandit" are outstanding.

The Best Book on Slots
I have read just about every book on slots but I resisted buying this one because I thought the information would be old and stale. Now having read it I have to agree with other reviewers that just about all slot books "borrow" heavily from Scoblete's work and are nowhere near as comprehensive. The book is a masterpiece of research and it is well written and extremely fun to read. I recommend this as the first and only slot stop you'll need before you try your hand at the one-armed bandits.

Very funny, very enlightening, very good book

The price guide watch collectors love to hate,
the M***osoft of watch price guides, or the 2.4 pound gorilla lurking in my watch briefcase- call it what you may, but as one can see by the numerous reviews below, the Complete Guide never fails to elicit opinions both positive and negative from watch collectors.All criticisms are valid, yet this reader always finds something interesting between the covers of this book, and whenever I am looking for information about relative values of watches, this is where I usually first look.Until a truly up-to-date price guide, that reflects the reality of ALL markets is created by some enterprising individuals (any watch collectors at Google??), this is the resource many will turn to first.One suggestion: I for one would support a 10 to 15 dollar increase on the retail price of this guide if that would enable the author to hire the services of a professional editor who could then clean up the numerous errors and redundancies present in this guide, which are well documented, by the way.

If this is no better than the 2001 edition ...atravesty
I own the 2001 edition, which is awkwardly written, very poorly edited, and difficult to use as a reference.Many photos appear to be xeroxes of movements rather than photos, and are illegible.Many actual photos are of such poor quality as to be essentially useless. There is no index, no attempt to provide cross-reference material (such as calibres common to a set of watches).Even the table of contents contains an error.
