5-0 out of 5 stars Buy it or you'll be sorry!
This book contains more info than one could even imagine! In fact, that's all I'm going to say becuase it would take to long for me to even give you even a basic idea! I will tell you this: If you don't have this book in your library then you are missing out big time!!!!! Oh, by the way, the illustrations are awesome too!!!!5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing detail
I'm not really into sword collecting, but I nonetheless found5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent piece of work!
The Connoisseur's Book is exceptionally detailed and not to mention very aesthetically pleasing. The book itself has the feel and look of a high-quality encyclopedia. As should be expected, the information inside is very well detailed. It is an excellent book and I very strongly recommend it, particularly if you are ready to start deeper in-depth studies of Nihonto. For a novice, I would probably suggest the books by Sato and Yumoto. But this is what I feel would be a step beyond those.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Kowalsky Book Surpasses Godden's Standard Reference
For years, serious collectors of pottery and porcelain relied on the works of Geoffrey Godden to assist them in their search for manufacturer's marks. Other authors produced different books, but Godden always remained the standard. Those days are over as Arnold A. and Dorothy E. Kowalsky have now produced what will undoubtedly become the definitive ENCYCLOPEDIA OF MARKS. Emphasizing the products of American, English and European earthenware, ironstone and stoneware from 1780-1980, the Kowalsky's present - as their book jacket states - "Makers, Marks, and Patterns in Blue and White, Historic Blue, Flow Blue, Mulberry, Romantic Transferware, Tea Leaf and White Ironstone."Containing 688 pages and hundreds of manufacturer's marks, this masterpiece highlights - and cross references to Geoffrey Godden - American Potteries and Marks, English Potters and Patterns, and European Potters and Patterns. Also included are notes from selected authorities spotlighting transfer printing on blue and white ceramics, historical Staffordshire, Flow Blue, Mulberry Ironstone, White Ironstone and Copper Lustre Decorative Motifs on White Ironstone China. The authors have diligently provided a guide for readers to know how to use their book. Some books are written for information; some for pleasure. This wonderful addition to the world of antiques and collectibles provides both information and pleasure. You really can't get any better than this!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best S&P book around
This book is what I would term user friendly. It isset up in such a waythat you can easily access the information you need.In the back of thebook is a listing of many importing companies and information on them. This is my favorite of all of the shaker books.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is the best book available on the subject.
If you are going to own just one book on salt & peppers, this is the one in which to invest. It is quite comprehensive and very well organized.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book will add spice to your collection!!
Mike Schneider keeps raising the bar a little higher--so high that Sergei Bubka couldn't vault over it.When I got the book I showed it to friends and that was the acid test.Over and over I heard, 'My grandma had thatpair,' or ' We have those in the basement...they're worth that much?!?' These people were enthralled with the book. Mike Schneider's book runs fromroutine shakers to really obscure ones to ones that are absolutelyunbelievable. The prices are true and the colors are crisp. Mr.Schneider's previous work caused me to be sure I got this volume--and asalways I am very pleased with his efforts.Schiffer Publishing has arising star. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great resource
This book is a great resource, or a beautiful coffee table book. It covers a broad range of architectural stained glass styles with both common and unusual examples. The photographs are excellent. I pull it off my shelf to illustrate possibilities to my stained glass clients all the time. It is very similar to "Old Stained Glass for the Home" by the same publisher, but the two together make a great pair for ideas, information or inspiration.

4-0 out of 5 stars Stained glass will never be the same again!
I am an amateur stained glass collector and after having read this book I feel much more prepared to continue my hobby.I found the book well oragnized and photographed beautifully. There was more than enough information for me regarding pricing, locations and vendors. I recently had the opportunity to meet with the author and I found her very charming and well informed. She really knows her stuff. Not only am I a fan of stained galss but now I am a fan of Molly Higgins! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Only 5 star collector book I've seen! Just super!
Wow, is this a mature book.It covers nearly every pattern I've run into, gives a good history and overview of nearly every one, has realistic prices, lists each piece, identifies and describes (yes, describes) how individual reproduction pieces can be spotted. The patterns are listed alphabetical.
5-0 out of 5 stars Mauzy's Depression Glass: A Photographic Reference And Price Guide
I have purchased many books in the past on depression glass, antiques, 40's, 50's and 60's era. But this book is my far the best written, best photos and gives the best details I have yet to see. I will be looking for others done by this author as well. I was suprise to see all the information that was put into this. Absolutely recommend for any antique dealer or collector of any type of glassware.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best glass book ever

5-0 out of 5 stars BUY THIS BOOK
This is a CLASSIC reference book on Revolutionary War artifacts!5-0 out of 5 stars The best book written on Revolutionary War artifacts.
George C. Neumann and Frank J. Kravic have really done it this time. Hands down this is the best book written on artifacts of the American Revolution. From A to Z you can look up nearly anything that was used in the War ForIndependence. Great for amateurs and pros alike it is an indispensablereference tool especially with museums and private collections. Verypopular with online auctions as this book is referred to often. Greatphotographs that are clear with a brief description of every item. Some ofthese artifacts are now on display at Valley Forge. For collectors andhistorians alike this work is unparalleled and for over 20 years has beenthe "bible" for collecting artifacts of the American Revolution. No other work has come close. Highly recommended.

3-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful photos, but not much else
The photos are great! There was little information to really tell about each gun pictured.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book of Guns, Indeed!
This book looks sweet on our coffee table. The pictures are beautiful- especially the ones of antique rifles. My knowledge of firearms has greatly increased just by reading it in my spare time. There is fascinating history about guns that I had never heard of previously. I like the way the book is organized by firearm type and country of origin. I'm truly glad I purchased this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting Historical Review but lacking modern details
I have been learning a lot about modern handguns, and I wanted a book that would give me some history of guns, how their operation has evolved, and an overview of the types of handguns in existance. This book is definitely interesting and fun to flip through, and has some great photos.I liked the photos of the older flint-lock pistols, pepperbox revolvers, and guns of the old-west.Some of the oddities were especially interesting, including the Japanese sword-gun (not a bayonet, but a full-size sword with a handle that was a gun). Also, I liked the WWII Liberator, made by GM to be cheap, easy to build, and to dropped in mass on Germany for partisans to get. However, I felt the book was lacking in a few key areas.I understand that the author can't possibly include every gun ever. But why are there so many examples of home-made guns throughout the years, and no entry for the Glock? The Glock was a revolutionary gun, with an interesting history of unknown Gaston Glock with no gunmaking experience making a gun for the Austrian army that bucked much conventional thinking regarding guns.Who would think a plastic frame would make a reliable gun? Now, every gun store you go into is packed with Glocks, and it is the favorite sidearm of many LEOs including police and FBI.Most CCW books I read recommend the Glock.Half the new guns I see today are essentially Glock copies (Springfield XD, Steyr, S&W SW, etc). The only mention of the Glock in this book is in a side-panel about SWAT teams, where it mentions that SWAT teams use Glocks among other weapons.

5-0 out of 5 stars High quality work
I took the initiative to build the carved corner china from the plans in this book and they are excellent. When I was done with my project I wrote Mr. Gottshall with photos of my project and he wrote back immediately, as I am perhaps the only other person he knew who built this particular project.
5-0 out of 5 stars Instructions and Measured Drawings for 40 Classic Projects
I gave this book "Making Antique Furniture Reproductions" as a present to a person who is learning how to make furniture. This book was very well received and appreciated for all of its detailed information and illustrations.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gottshall will be a good companion.
Franklin Gottshall has written a number of great woodworking project/reproduction books and periodically reshuffles and reassembles his popular plans. This book one is similar to an earlier red cover version on Reproducing Antique Furniture. I built a variation of the blockfront chest. Gottshall's construction explanations are very clear and his drawings are thorough, and accurate. I wanted a four drawer instead of a three drawer chest. I used a Kittinger catalog to rescale the piece, but basically followed Gottshall's construction. His piece did call for full 7/8in sides which required a little research to find.A source supply would have been nice. I accomplished the carving of the shells from his layout, though I modified the center design somewhat, and thought his shell looked a little thick, but simply thinning it down did the trick. Because when I built the piece in 1974, I didn't have the variety of router bits available today, I found I had to design some templates and jigs to ensure success on the complex cuts. But all that is doable. Recommend that you draw up full scale plans from Gottshall's plans for complex pieces. It will help you learn the construction. Even if you do not like or build all the pieces, it is a valuable reference on fine furniture construction that you'll reference often. It's a great book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Flayderman's Guide
I am an ardent collector of antique firearms.Flayderman's is an absolutely essential resource with detailed information about practically every firearm ever produced in early America. There simply is nothing comparable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms and Their Values
One may disagree with some of the prices given but if a novice collector bought only one book, this should be it for the wealth of information found within its almost 700 pages of photos and text. Whether your area of interest is Civil War arms, Indian guns, air and spring guns, or even whaling guns you'll find this book helpful. My only criticism is the arrangement of the index and that was the responsibililty of the publisher. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars overrated
I have a room full of gun books, and I didn't find anything new in this one.I bought this because it was recomended to me for finding dates of manufacture. It falls short. There are many books on other brands that give "year of manufacture" by serial number.Supica says this cannot be done with older Smith & Wessons, yet if you send a serial number to S&W, they can tell you when your gun left the factory.Somebody other than Supica has this info and I'm looking for that book. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars missing information
for a 2006 edition this catalog is missing many many coins from previous years that one would expect to find. there are even missing items from before 2000! not very good for an edition that soppose to be 2006. in other cases, complete countries are missing like the new set from cocos islands with the 2004 set.

4-0 out of 5 stars 2006 world of coins
Great book for small amount of money...
5-0 out of 5 stars I use KM numbers to help organize the collection
I need a guide so I just do not blindly pay big bucks for cute pictures. There are a lot of good guides and some more specific on particular eras and locations such as Westphalia. But as you do a coin search you are bound to run across something you are not familiar with and need a guide. This guide is a great place to start; it is easy to navigate and gives cursory information on particular locations and times surrounding the coin's production.

4-0 out of 5 stars he's nuts, but he produces fabulous art
as good as the book is, i must say that it pales in comparison to seeing his work in person.i saw some of it at the renwick gallery in washington d.c. and it's just incredible.he's come out of his shell in the last fewyears but has been producing great stuff for a long time.2-0 out of 5 stars Ho-Hum
Great photography and sculptures, but the writing style is fool's gold. Too expensive as well, even with the Amazon reduction. It's great but not that great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply Brilliant, Simply Authentic, Simply Golden.
As a professor of Art History at an Afghani University, I would like to congratulate, extol, and exult Daniel Brush's masterpiece of a monograph. Its insight and vivid explanations are invaluable and I am discussing withmy colleagues about including it as an elective course for my students. Itssheer brilliance exemplifies its utter domination over any other art book.Congratulations to Daniel Brush for enhancing the art world. 3-0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners
The first half of the book is a really well-written beginners introduction into the world of cigars, their history, making, smoking, storing and other vital knowledge.
3-0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Penultimate
This work has been highly overrated, since it is far from being the "ultimate" cigar book.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An education in perspective
This is one of the best and most informative books on the subject of perspective I've read or studied. Thank you very much for making this book available.

4-0 out of 5 stars Clear guide to basic perspective
For some reason, perspective is the boogey-man of many people learning to draw. It doesn't have to be that way. This book will help you put that sense of solidity and reality into a drawing.4-0 out of 5 stars Not just for engineers and architects.
I got this book because I had a floor plan that I wanted to make into a 3D or at least 2D home elevation.I've never taken a drawing course and before this, everything I drew was rubbery or floating. :-)Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars does not live up to promise
A cute book, but contains very little information for all of its promise. The authors are busy making jokes but not talking about the nitty gritty of restoration. Maybe it is to hard to do since every job presents its own challanges. I just found the content thin. I am sorry I purchased it. If I could have found a copy in my local library, I would have saved some money. ... Read more
