Button, Button...
For a beginner, who knows nothing of buttons, I'm impressed with the depth of knowledge in this book.It's a must for collectors, or for those wanting to learn more about buttons.

Great reference
I bought this for my mother who started collecting buttons that she was finding at yard sales and flea markets. She absolutely loved the book.It is very complete in terms of providing information on all sorts of materials and subject matters.There are lots of examples, great pictures, so you can compare your buttons with the ones shown to get an idea ofthewir history/origins as well s some pricing info.Definitely the best book I've come across for buttons as I was looking for this gift for my mom and she's gotten great use of it.(Now I get to hear from her about "oh and this button..... and that button..."It's fun :)

Easy to use with great illustrations!

For buyers, not researchers
After 20 years working in Africa and collecting beads, I find this the best book of its type for people actually going into African markets, American bead shows, and flea markets looking to buy rare or collectible beads. It is not the right book for someone who doesn't yet know the basics about where and how the major types of beads are/were fabricated, how they have traveled, and the ethnographics associated with their past and present uses. (For those subjects, try Dubin, J. Allen, Liu, Picard, and Beckworth's Africa Adorned.)But for ballpark pricing, comparisons, and availability, there's nothing better in print.

I boughtthis book for my mom - she was getting really into hunting for beads (and buttons but that's another story) at yard sales, antique stores etc.She didn't really know what she was buying - just what she liked - so I bought this book for her about a year ago and she has loved it ever since.There are a lot of pictures, descriptions and background info on the different types of beads.If nothing else, it has provided a good foundation for her in her hunt for more beads so she knows a little more about the types/styles to look for (in addition to just what she happend to like)

I like this book as there are many illustrations and after reading the book I had a deeper understanding of buttons. A great place to start
This is the same book sold in the Official Disney Pin Trading stores at Disney World. The price point is excellent! The book picks up where the official Disney website stops. (The Disney website has an incomplete or purged listing.) The book includes older pins, pins available at parks worldwide, as well as pins available through other sources.The book does not include original retail prices or more specific current values, it lists ranges for current value.The pictures are somewhat small. Another Great Book by Dorothy Kamm
Wow, what an informative, helpful book if you have any interest in vintage jewelry or hand-painted porcelain. Wish I had some of the pieces featured here....

Honest review:
I read the reviews on this book prior to purchasing it.I also noted the reference to another book: LIVING WITH LIMOGES and I purchased it. Of course I compared the two.LIVING WITH LIMOGES is FANTASTIC and has an entire section on WEARING YOUR LIMOGES that is informative, professional and has fabulous photographs of thousands of hand painted pieces. The quality of Living With Limoges is much better than this book Painted Porcelain. I personally don't like paperback books and Painted Porcelain is a paperback.I thought I would enjoy both but my recommendation - don't bother spending the money on paperback reference books -- put your money toward the better book.

A Collector's Guide to Buttons
This is a small book, black and white photos of very old buttons. Hardly any buttons from the 1920's on. Not enough information to make it worthwhile. I was quite disappointed, did not feel it was worth what I paid for it. The book itself was in good condition and was sent promptly.

An asset for the pinback collector!

A must have for the serious collector of political buttons
Ted Hake's three book series has become the standard by which all others are judged. This first book of political collectibles is the most comprehensive book of it's kind in existence. Life size photographs andaccurate pricing for each item make this book relatively easy to use. Theonly drawback is that the first edition (now out of print) was in color.Nevertheless, even black and white photos make identification ofcollectibles a cinch.
