5-0 out of 5 stars Simply 18th century coins of the world for the world !
Certainly this is the book for 18th century coins, unless you are mainly interested in one country like the UK or France -- in that case you would find more information more attractively laid out, along with other centuries, elsewhere, usually more cheaply too. But for its coverage of the world, including hugely complicated countries like Gemany, Italy and India, it is unbeatable. This 3rd edition is an improvement over earlier editions, because more pictures (especially of the smaller coins) and more obscurities have been included.
5-0 out of 5 stars As my collection slowly moves back in time
I need a guide so I just do not blindly pay big bucks for cute pictures. There are a lot of good guides and some more specific on particular eras and locations such as Westphalia. But as you do a coin search you are bound to run across something you are not familiar with and need a guide. This guide is a great place to start; it is easy to navigate and gives cursory information on particular locations and times surrounding the coin's production.

5-0 out of 5 stars Everyone interested in coins should own this book!
And here in 2006 we have the 60th anniversary of what is commonly referred to as "The Red Book", which is of course a guidebook of US coins which encompasses state coinage such as Massachussets, New Jersey and the other colonies, gold coins from the American wild west as well as the Southern mints, pattern and experimental coinage and essentialy a basic guide that every coin collector, coin dealer, hobbyist and even part time student of coins cannot be without. Edited by one of the greats, Kenneth Bressett, this book also makes a great gift for that budding YN !( young Numismatist) As a professional coin dealer I recommend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Latest coin information here!
This latest (2007)publication by expert authors gives up-to-date+ values of coins. The color representations of coins is also helpful. The spiral binding allows one to hold the book open while examining one's collection coins with a glass and comparing with photos in the book. The history included with descriptions enlightens and enhances reader's knowledge of the coin of the land.Great book, recommended highly.

3-0 out of 5 stars For mature coin collectors, not chldren
This coin folder was made in somber dark colors that lend themselves to serious coin collectors, not to children.I bought this folder for my daughter and have been very disappointed in the difficulty to get coins in using smaller fingers and children's muscle power. Also, after only two openings and closings, the glue started to release, letting the cardboard 'pages' separate. For an ongoing collection of quarters (many of which have yet to be minted and released), I foresee this being in pieces long before my daughters 'collection' is complete. If you are looking for something for your child to use, keep looking. This is not what you want or need.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quarter Folder
My eight year old grandson thinks the quarter folder was just wonderful and has already filled more than half of it with quarters. This folder asks that you fill quarters from the different states with a D mint mark and a P mint mark. This makes the search more fun for the kids

5-0 out of 5 stars Great ProductHard to find.
I have 3 different types of collector books for the Quarters. None are complete. This set is complete both the East and West Mints. You should buy one for each child, greandchild or greatgrandchild. These will make a great Christmas present for 2008. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I recommend you the last edition of World Coins
An excellent book as allways, recommended for people who collect, and/or sells/buy World Coins, A lot of improved images and list of prices. I would say this book is the STATE OF THE ART in World Coins catalog.
1-0 out of 5 stars No price changes....
Here we go again...You might think that with the rise in the price of metals this year we would expect to see overall price evaluations in this latest edition of World Coins (The answer is NO, Krause Publishing figures that a re-designed cover qualifies as a 'new' addition). Save yourself some coin and purchase a used 32nd edition, which is basically identical except that with the 2006 ed. you also get coin listings of 2001 and up! You will now have to purchase another catalog for 'updated' 2001 and up coin pricing...Lazy and a rip. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Slugs and Punches
This is the Bible for anyone who collects coins. Look at your coins carefully. You never know when you'll find a coin that has a Wonderful Mint Error. I've found several mint errors in my collection, a couple of which I had varified. Unfortunately nothing really glaring, but did raise the value of a few enough to keep me looking. I haven't looked at 1/3 of my collection. You coin collectors need to have this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A picture IS worth a thousand words!
Being a newbie to coin collecting, I found this book to be by far the most helpful to me. I was trying to understand the grading system, so I went to the local bookstore and browsed several books on the subject. And while there are a lot of good books out there...a photo of an EF coin is SO MUCH easier to comprehend than a 25 word description of one! I especially found it helpful how the author pointed out the typical wear points for each of the different coins, and then explained in VERY simple terms how that degree of wear would affect the coin's grade. I don't think I would be overstating things if I said that even a 10 year old could comprehend this book. The author really does make it THAT simple! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A must have book for world coin collectors
who specialize in gold coins minted prior to 1600. It would have been much better if the photos would have been in color. In todays new coin business and hobby it's essential to communicate not only the basic design of a coin but also it's unique look and that means color and high quality digital pictures. We are learing in the trade that these color photos are an essential part of the business, and students and collectors of coins want research material that also accurately portrays coins as well. Still a necessary book for the collector as well as advanced Numismatic library, let's hope we see a new release that we can all be happy with.

1-0 out of 5 stars Buy another book.
The book is poorly constructed and lacks a lot of acient middle eastern gold coins. The lack of color also makes me feel that I over paid for this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Statehood Quarter Album Review
It's a good looking album, well made, and displays the quarters, both front and back sides. Instructions for use are quite adequate.

5-0 out of 5 stars (4.5) The perfect way to store your quarter collection!
This is one of the best albums I've seen for collecting the statehood quarters, and is what I keep my personal collection in. It's simple and yet classy looking. I'm not too keen on those tacky map-like albums. It has ten cardboard pages, with room for two years' worth of quarters (ten) on each page. The coin slots are open on both sides of the page, to allow for viewing of both sides of the coins, and have plastic coverslips to protect against scratches, fingerprints, etc. Each coin slot is labeled with the state's name, and they are arranged in order of production. The book itself is very sturdy and affords ample protection for the coins. The inside cover offers a brief explanation of the "50 States Commemorative Coin Program Act" and some information on quarters in general. The inside back cover lists all the states in order of production, the year in which each was / will be produced, and the date on which that state gained admission to the Union.4-0 out of 5 stars Another fine coin album from Whitman
Whitman has a long history of producing sturdy, similarly dressed coin albums for coins for all types of United States coins throughout the country's history. This album is the newest edition for storing 25-centpieces that are a part of the new (starting in 1999) Statehood quarters. (5 quarter designs will be released each year for 10 years--1 coin for eachstate, released in the order the state joined the Union.)What I can addto the previous excellent review is that all of Whitman's dark blue hardback albums, like this one, have six plastic sleeves per page.Threesleeves behind and three in front of the six rows of holes for the coins, which slide in and out of the pages. And, each hole in this album ismarked with the State whose design graces the obverse of the coin.Theresult is an album where both the obverse (front) and reverse (back) of thecoins are viewable just by turning the page--no removal of coins isnecessary, preserving the condition of the coin. It is unfortunate thatthis book does not have two holes for each of the circulated coins("P" mint mark for coins minted in Philadelphia's US Mint, a"D" for coins minted at the US Mint in Denver).Whitman's otheralbums usually make room for all minted circulations for the coin.Butthat's ok, I'll just have two Statehood Quarter books in my collection ofWhitman Coin Albums. ...
