Amazing Collection of hard-to-find and exquisite militaria in one great book!!!
This book is a great read-through for anyone who is interested in either militaria collecting or a general appreciation of the second world war. The one aspect of this books that sets it above the rest is its documentation of GI's taking these things back up, which is shown through several example photographs. I reccomend this book, yes the price may be high, but if you are interested in seeing amazing items like Hitler's famous "brown shirt", and a very large selection of other personalities, such as Goering, Himmler, and many others!!! An absolute must for the armorer
I have yet to find a better book for armoring. Nearly every fundamental is covered.
A rather useful book
This is a book on how to build armor.Tools, techniques, materials, workspace needed, cost estimates are all part of it.I make leather armor for re-enactors, so much of what was taught here was not directly applicable.However, there are chapters on how to measure, pattern, and cut.These are useful even if the material used isn't metal but leather.There are even some basic instructions on leatherworking.Overall, a pretty straightforward work.I recommend it for anyone who is interested in armor construction, collecting, or re-enacting.

Reynosa has laid out an excellent book. Heavily researched and documented. Photos include manufacturing, in use combat photos and detail close-ups. A must for the collector this book has most everything except a quickreference guide to take with you to gun shows and auctions. ... Read more

Too short
As a Collector's guide, any respectable one should have more than a few plate in color. Most of the image shown in this book come from other books published many years ago. If you take a look at the bibliography of this book you will be puzzle, so many good books are listed. So if it was the case, why Mr. Lumsden did'nt make a good summary of all of these books. It come short in terms of distinctive image. Short also in matter of description. If you intend to do a collector's guide, when you present a full battledress Waffen-ss you have to explained everything shown on the image, not just a collar patch or a belt buckle.Read more

Splendid overview
Jet Age Flight Helmets is giving a very useful overview of the topic. It is packed with beautiful colour photos making it easy to identify each helmet type. A little more information about the helmets would have been useful and the same goes for an alphabetical index. Nevertheless four stars fully earned.

So many details
When I purchased this book, I didn't expect to see all the diagrams and charts that it included.The author not only has photos and descriptions of the numerous tiger patterns, but he studied the different buttons and zippers as well!He has hand drawn pictures of patterns and cuts, and there are even a few personal photos of his family wearing tigers from his personal collection.
Excellent book on tiger stripswith some glaring oversights
Sgt Johnson's book on the tiger stripe camouflague pattern and its variants is an excellent book. Indeed, it is the authoritative reference on the subject for some time. The authour's methodical sysmatization and meticulious research have certainly provided militaria collectors with highly rigourous technical standards. EXCELLENT

The Essential,No-Frills List
Mr. Vernon a retired British schoolteacher who resides in California has updated his popular and comprehensive guide to world medals and their prices. If one is a novice to the world of medal collecting, this book is a standard refernce. Copiously illustrated by black and white photos, the book is organized by country and thereafter by standard order of wearing precedence: Orders, gallantry awards, campaign awards, long service awards etc.. Vernon then lists each and every medal (including standard variations) at their "list" price as he has noted their sale over the past 5 years. Over 8,000 medals are listed by my count. Want to know how much a Silesian Eagle with swords is worth? Ever wondered what a Turkish "Gallipoli Star" looked like? This book can show you. The author also handily includes some surficial notes on various awards noting recent fakes and signs of copies. While this is no small, thin book its only frustration is that it contains a only a modest number (e.g. @1000) of photos relative to the items listed. An excellent starting point
Since there is no other book on the market which provides such essential basics to becoming a knowledgeable collector I rate this book very high. If you intend on getting into the fun of collecting Nazi era memorabilia this is the first book you should get your hands on. Don't buy anything until you read this book. Chances are if you take this book with you when your looking for Third Reich Militaria you will at least end up with an original and not a fake. Without this book it's buyer beware.

Not perfect but:
If you are going to collect 3rd Reich militaria this book is a must. The biggest drawback is the lack of short glossary explaining some of the terms and how to determine certain kinds of metal. For example: if an item is made out of "tombak" how do I differentiate that from zinc or aluminium. All photos in B&W, color would have been nice. All this aside this book seems to be the best book on the market on the subject.

Informative and Concise
This book is a very helpful guide for helping to separate the fake items from the real ones out there. The hundreds of pictures included in the bookwonderfully illustrate the points made in the text. The "MiscellaneousRegalia" section could have been larger and more inclusive but what isincluded gives good examples of how far people will go to forge items,especially written documents.
