Old Books That Are Not Too Old
This guide is for the in-between books. It is for books that are not so old that they would be very hard to find. It contains 25,000 listings of old books with current values. It also lists a directory of over 200 dealers and collectors who are willing to buy the types of old books listed in the guide.
How Old is Old?
When I purchased Huxford's Old Book Value Guide, I imagined that the books that were covered might be older than those written by Len Deighton and Marian Zimmer Bradley. There's lots of stuff from 1970 on, but coverage of genuinely old books is very sparse. The title of this guide is extremely misleading, but if late 20th Century books are your area of interest, you might find this useful. I didn't.

Hit or miss...
This book does list values of 25,000 books as it claims, but it is incomplete in some very frustrating ways that have to do with how it was put together. The authors apparently contacted a number of book dealers and collected their 'inventories' into a database. These were then consolidated into the listing(s) of this book.Read more

20th Century American Culture
A wonderfully nostalgic look at pop culture of the 20th century, this is as much a social history book of the 1930's through the early 1970's as it is a history of Drive In restaurants. Jammed pack in this 187 page "psuedo tome" is the history of fast food and how it evolved into what it's become today, as well as teen culture of the era, and how the automobile turned America into a mobile society and society's response.
Great nostalgia trip
This book blends words and photography to take readers back to more relaxed days of the early to late 20th Century. The pictures alone are worth the price. It is apparent how much time, research, and effort Michael Karl Witzel contributed into the making of this book. Beautiful drawings pack an illustrated history
Bright, colorful pages packed with color illustrations and photos chart the art and history of the firecracker, from their construction and advancement to the making of labels and items promoting them. Beautiful drawings pack an illustrated history which invites leisure browsers as much as researchers, and which is very highly recommended for general library collections.

Experience the Thrill
This book shows great insite into the history of the firecracker and theintricate artwork involved with the packaging of them. The clarity of theillustrations are wonderful, its hard to believe some of the labels are asold as they are. I highly recommend this book to anyone who can rememberthe excitement of being able to "set off" these firecrackers onthe 4th of July, without worrying about breaking the law. Art! and History?
Excellent beautifully illustrated book well worth the money. The illustrations and layout are extremely well done. This is easy reading that covers some terrtory not well documented anywhere else (Vietnam.) Somehistorical inaccuracies especially in the history of the manufacture of"Chinese" crackers in the 20th century.Overall an excellentjob! Great Coca-Cola Guide Book!

Good as a companion to Petretti's
Pros: Extensive selection of signs and cardboard items with lots of nice colour photos throughout. Many items in this book aren't in Petrettis, so it makes a good companion. All up I am happy with this book and use it regularly to price and check items.

Great gift for a pen lover!
I purchased this as a Father's Day gift for my dad, who is a fountain pen addict.He loved the book and the history, but especially the pictures of the old ads for some of the classic fountain pens.He continues to talk about the book and for about $20 I found a gift that has become one of his favorites.

Beautiful volume
This is a beautiful book. The covers and pages are of high quality papers. Steinberg has written a truly excellent book on history of the fountain pens. Though by no means it is comprehensive and detail but definitely more than adequate for any serious collectors as part of the essential knowledge on fountain pens. The illustrations are well laid out accompanying the story and they are simply superb. A very elegant book and suitable for both beginners and serious collectors. Even good as a gift to introduce someone to pen collecting. I simply love the book and a pleasure to read it.

Seedy, Sleazy and Sexy
Christopher Mealie has put together a book of photos for those of us ( aging baby boomers ) who remember when lingerie, and / or bare breasts were as hot as it got. There's something about what you DON'T see that makes it all the more sexy. That these women are rather normal-looking, and would, most likely, never grace the pages of Playboy, makes them more realistic, and, attainable.For those of you who don't, necessarily, want the girl next door, and like a wide variety of breasts, this collection is for you.

Charming sometimes, usually boring...
So I received this book as a gift, and so I can't hate it too much. I did not know that I could collect a bunch of nostalgia, throw it all in a messy anthology with some random pictures of old couples and make some money. Maybe I should try it. I wouldn't consider these 'love letters' per say, because most of them are just from ordinary people chronicling their mundane lives to someone who will listen. When you buy this book you turn into that someone.
Not what I expected
I like looking at old pictures and old letters, but I thought when I bought the book that I would actually be looking in the history of someone's life with pictures to go with it but that was not the case.It is just a random bunch of pictures and a random bunch of letters put together in a book.The pictures aren't necessarily the pictures of the people who wrote the letters, so you know nothing of the authors, no explanation of the times they lived in or the place they lived in or anything.In other words, no story behind it whatsoever.Just a disappointing collection.

Book is called "wine labels" not "wine bottle lables"
In all fairness to this book, the author, and the subject: this is not a book on wine bottles - it is on the tag that describes the contents of a decanter - a "label" for the "wine" in the decanter.

Caution - misleading book title
This book is NOT about wine labels but rather about BOTTLE tags - particularly those made of silver or other metals that hang around the necks of bottles.It is probably a good guide for collectors of these bottle tags or metal hang-tags but of no use to those interested in paper labels.
