A lost art
This is a wonderful book in the series with wonderful reproductions of the posters of the decade.Makes a wonderful gift for someone who loves movies as well as a great coffee table book. Highly recommended

A trip down memory lane
When I first looked at this book, it was like going back to my childhood, well, sort of, it was so neat to see posters of some of my favorite films from back then and a lot from movies that I never knew they made. The artwork on those posters is most certainly something to see and admire!!! If you love art and or movies this is THE book to get you won't be disappointed!

Jaws, Star Wars, Grease, Taxi Driver do I even need to go on
Like the other decade books in this series Film Posters of the 70's is a sensational buy.You could either keep it intact as a collection of posters in a book to show and discuss with friends, or cut the book up and actually have a vast number of posters up on your wall.This book is about a third the size of your standard film poster and most movies are full page colour.Any of them would look great up on the wall.Read more

The Official Price Guide to Action Figures (2nd Ed)
This book had all black and white pictures, and almost all of them showed the item in its package.I needed a book to help me IDENTIFY individual figures, which this book DEFINATELY DID NOT DO.I immediately returned the book.

Terrific Lucy Memorabilia Book
Let me start with the complaints. The prices that the items have designated to them are very off. You can easliy go to a flea market or an online auction and get most of the things at least 25% cheaper than they are listed as being worth in here. Maybe the prices are so high because the guy never planned to update it, but an update is what the book needs. After the 50th Anniversary of I Love Lucy there was a ton of stuff released. In all honesty a For The Love of Lucy Pt.2 book could be made, after all the book is 7 or 8 years old. Now moving on to the good stuff about the book. This book includes so many Lucy items that were made available from early on in her carrer to after her death that this book would be a great conversational piece for when you have any company. Each page is filled with stuff from cards and comic books, to dolls. This book is perfect for any Lucy fan who is or isnt collecting Lucy stuff. Overall this book is great, but updating it would be nice.

Lucy Lovers Will Love This!
Talk about complete! "For the Love of Lucy" is the ultimate book for fans and collectors of "Lucy" memorabilia. Filled with beautiful color and black & white pictures, along with helpfultext and value estimates, this compendium will keep any fan busy for hours. I'm not a collector, but I found it thrilling to sift through all the pages and see the many different things out there. This would be a great birthday or Christmas gift for any Lucy lover you know.

alternate use?
I used this book for a slightly different use: I cut out the pictures to use for decoupaging a table.It served its purpose excellently as the pictures were just the right size.My one complaint is that there were too many instances in which the same movie had quite a few posters, each one looking just barely different.

Nicely done book
I guess the other reviewer has no concept of art, or probably has no idea these posters are worth thousands of dollars each, at least. If you don't believe me, check out the author's background, as he used to run Christies auctions, as well as his own eBay auctions, to the tune of a lot of money since 1989. So, if you're a movie buff, have an appreciation for this art, and can afford it, then great! If not, go whine somewhere else!

Book doesn't quite live up to website
I purchased Semling's book based on the quality of his website, "Brians Toys."If you are new to collecting Star Wars, I recommed this book.If you already know the basics, you may want to look elsewhere.The book has large quality photographs, but the writing is at about a highschool level.

Average at best
The Black Diamond 2 book, while it is definately good to use as a cross reference with other price guides or collectible books, I have found a disturbing amount of errors in facts, not to mention bad editing and spell checking. I further believe that the author is one of the biggest hypocrates around. He reviews books in his book section and basically slams the KISS Collectibles Identification And Price Guide book put out in 1993 by Karen and John Lesniewski. He claims that it is a bad identification book because the photos are in black and white and are blurry. I have used this book extensively and found it to be super helpful. The pictures are clear and there is an eight page color section with only photos. I have found the black and white photos to be as clear and consise, if not clearer in this book than in the Black Diamond 2 book. The last thing I could say is how can you trust the information in Black Diamond 2 when the last page of the book is filled with corrections from Black Diamond 1. He didn't even know that Ace was from the Bronx!!!!

Very little readable material. Just a bunch of dates and lists of people.Disappointed to say the least.

Another essential book for KISS fans.
Dale Sherman has done it again!He's put out another book that is essential for KISS fans.Although not near as exciting as BD1,I again did learn a lot I didn't know before.This book is pretty much for KISS collectors only.Butit sure could be a life save you a lot of money and heartache by providingdetailed information on imports and bootlegs you might be consideringpurchasing. Yes,it gets rather lengthy and boring ,but at least itshonest.And for that reason ,I give it five stars. ... Read more

Finally! A Monkees collectible book!
I am late on reviewing this book but had to comment. I LOVE this book. Very goog work and research! Great photography! It's so nice to see someone put this much effort in a Monkees collectible book. My only complaint is the records are not valued correctly. We need a Monkees record collecting guide. If not for values, just to see the great world wide covers of the albums, single and EP's that differ from country to country. The Monkees are collectibles...........
I love this book it has everything you need to know what is very valuable. There's a lot of interesting stuff in it that was very popular and sold very well back then when the Monkees were quite hot......So I also consider this book a classic because it has so much information in it I just love it......

A detailed look into the early years of Star Wars collectibles
I have been a big Star Wars fan since the first film was released back in 1977. I used to own many of the old action figures and played with them all the time up until my grandmother gave them away to the Goodwill. I picked up this book in 1997 just as I was getting back into collecting Star Wars figures once again. This is a very detailed book with lots of great color photos. Seeing the pictures of all of the older toys brought back a lot of memories. And it makes you stop and think about how much your old collection would have been worth if you had saved it. I recommend this book to anyone who is a true Star Wars fan and collector. You will not be disappointed.

Sticker fun

No frills in content or presentation
I'd like to begin by noting that this isn't a bad book for the price.It contains some interesting and worthwhile information, and parts of it were fun/interesting to read.I particularly liked the chapter that dealt with reproduction weapons and other fake items (though it would have been nice if it included a few example photos).There were also solid chapters dealing with the history of Star Wars collectables, as well as vintage and new figures, trading cards, comics, etc..

A book that teaches you how to price items
This book is a fantastic way to learn how to price items. Since markets fluctuate, and price guides become outdated very quickly, it was a great read that informed me of what to look for when both buying and selling. With the information in this book, you can compare your item with those on the market and it will help you adequately critique and value you're collectible. If you are in a market to get quick numbers for pricing items...this is not the book for you. But if you want to learn what makes items valuable, and how to preserve those that are, this is definitely the book to get. ... Read more
