Tops!!!!!
I have looked through this book and also bought another in the series.It is fantastic,and anyone who is still interested in Barbie at all shouldnot hesitate-buy it today!!!! It reveals hundreds of Barbies from the beginning of her existence,and is so fascinating and you might even see one that you once owned.

The Collectable Barbie Doll: An Illustrated Guide
And illustrated it certainly is! This is the first Barbie doll book I had read and now I am hooked on her world. It tells her story from the beginning and brings it to the present day, all the while illustrating itwith dolls from all eras. Although the 2nd edition (which is the one Iread) is expanded, I would like to have seen a little more of the late1980's-present. Overall, if you don't know much about Barbie and would liketo find a place to start this book is it!

Downmarket Deco on Main Street
Most books about Art Deco rightly cover the fine art aspects of the movement but the authors of this lovely book explore the way commerce used deco styling in mass produced products available on any Main Street.It would be a good few years before an art style was used again to sell things, namely pop art in the mid-Sixties.

Fantastic
I agree with all the other reviews and can't really add much, except to say the photos are many in magnificent full colour, and he even has photos of incomplete pieces which is great for seeing how they are put together (I am specifically thinking of the easy chair). He does not stick to strict Queen Anne but covers the subtle variations such as the Gaines chair (one of my favourites) ... this book is a true gem and since receiving it I can hardly put it down. A great resource and would make a fantastic present for someone interested in woodwork. Queen Anne furniture would have to be near the pinnacle of woodworking but with this book it seems reachable.

This book was an big disappointment, and not as advertised.It only contains an small amount of information on Peanuts Collectibles. I would not recommend it.

COLLECTORS DREAM
Once again Mr. Geary has out done himself. Just when you thought nothing else could be said about PEZ, Geary comes along with a book that is sure to be a hit with the true collectors. 10 STARS if It was possible.

Can't resist dipping into it
I bought this book on a whim after leafing through it to see what made the list. It really has a lot of info--I can't resist picking it up to read another half dozen entries. Lots of fun, even though you'll probably think of lots of other stuff he could have included. (Dr Pepper is really the oldest soft drink?)

Really fun and interesting
What a great book.This gives you info on everything American.From Coca Cola and Barbie Dolls etc etc.It's really interesting because firstly, you may not have realised that something is actually American made/invented, and then with so many products in here, something is bound to capture your interest.It will tell you all about that product like the date it was invented, where, how etc.This is a really cool gift for someone, or just entertaining reading for yourself.I recommend this to any 'history' buff or just anyone in general. ... I was looking for a price guide....
I was looking for a price guide for these toys and this isn't it, but I didn't even care because this book is fabulous.Wonderful pictures and the origination of the most beloved toys.Big, thick heavy book.Nice coffee table book.

An American Classic
Advertising and Automobiles-A perfect advertising media for The Zippo! This fantastic book celebrates an era when people were not ashamed if their cars were gas guzzlers or if they (gasp!) smoked. Not enough info...
For the money (I paid $3.84 plus S&H), a great deal. However, The Lord of the Rings box set (?1988) and an animated hardback book that I own were not pictured in this guide. I also expected more information about the different printings. I did not see anything about collector First Day Covers, stamps or coins but I haven't read the whole book. Maybe they are in there but not pictured. Again, for the money, I think it is an enjoyable guide for the amature collector or Tolkien fan like myself but a serious collector may find this guide to be lacking.

Too many mistakes!
I had originally purchased this book to assist me with my new hobby of collecting Tolkien books.It seemed to me that the book was hastily researched and quickly assembled to capitalize on the momentum that the movie trilogy had provided.There seemed to be too little detail for the various books out there and way too many errors in their description.It is now in the possession of my 9-yr old son who enjoys thumbing through the pages and looking at the pictures (probably the best part of this book).If you want a book that will truly help you with collecting Tolkien books, I would suggest Wayne Hammond's "JRR Tolkien, A Descriptive Bibliography" published by Oak Knoll Press, 1993.

All Things Tolkien Indeed!!
I found this book to be an exstensive resource for Tolkien's writings, the many publishers and cover artists, the first editions and the latest available, and the writings you may never heard of. Seeing the covers of some of the early paperbacks was like finding long lost friends, the editions I grew up reading. I also found the sections on the merchandise spawned by the previous animation features and the new movie trilogy to be very detailed. I recommend this book to anyone interested in the visual history of Tolkien's works and the art inspired by them. ... Read more

Good as a companion to Petretti's
Pros: Extensive selection of signs and cardboard items with lots of nice colour photos throughout. Many items in this book aren't in Petrettis, so it makes a good companion. All up I am happy with this book and use it regularly to price and check items.
