Overall it is helpful.I am really just getting into this, so it is great to have something I can refer to to get an idea of where the item I have comes from.

4-0 out of 5 stars INFORMATIVE BOOK
The book, on the whole, does as its title asserts - uses good photographic images to show the reader the various shapes used by Wedgwood. It also offers some guidance as to the rarity of colors used and a basic historical reference.
4-0 out of 5 stars great quick reference
This is a great book on wedgwood jasperware. It will definitely help identify genuine pieces and offers great illustrations. I thought there would be much larger collection of pieces illustrated within the book though, so I was somewhat disappointed since none of the jasperware I own was even listed in the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Author's opinion given as a reference work but pix are great
The title of this book suggests that it is a guide to all Wedgwood Jasper Ware, but the author concentrates strictly on dipped jasper ware. The title should indicate this. The text of the book also is filled with the author's opinions that dipped jasper ware is somehow superior to solid Wedgwood jasper ware and that the latter category of wares is rather declasse. He is certainly entitled to his opinions but they should not be presented as standard for Wedgwood collectors. His collection (and therefore his book)concentrates on a very specific period of production that he prefers but as I stated above the title does not indicate this. Having said that, am I sorry that I purchased this book (indeed pre-ordered it and waited several months for it?) Not at all. The photographs are sumptuous, and that section of the book is superb. The shapes of the pieces and subjects of the bas reliefs listed apply to all types of Wedgwood wares, dipped jasper, solid jasper, basalt, Queensware, drab ware, etc. For this very reason, the book is a valuable reference. Quality books on Wedgwood are few and far between and older ones are difficult to find if one wants to own them and not have to go to a library. In conclusion, drool over the pictures, but divide the text into two categories: Wedgwood history (which the book is short on) and author's opinion (of which there is plenty.)Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Collecting Lladro: Identfication and price guide
As a Lladro collector of more than 25 years I found this book to be most informative.Even though I have read much about Lladro there were topics covered that were new to me.A new addition would be most welcome.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good read for Lladro enthusiast
Good book to read about Lladro porcelains but it's pretty outdated and doesn't contain samples of the newer Lladro pieces. But then again, Lladro related books are so rare, this itself is a jewel. Majority of the pictures shown here are the 'official' photographs of piece by Lladro themselves. It would have been great to see pictures taken by the author or owner as it would give a different angle and view of the pieces. I'm an avid collector and was thrilled to see many of the older pieces and read a short history about them in this book.Perhaps the author would consider to publish a newer edition?? And also source out Lladro examples from a more varied selection of collectors. A view of how they are stored in display cabinets at individual homes would be great too, to give a more personal and homely touch to the pieces. This is a great book and I'm sure it took a lot of effort to come out with it.... I would recommend it to anyone and hope that new editions will be published in the near future.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Resource!
For anyone who is interested in learning more about Lladr, the company, the history, the incredible artistry, "relatives" such as NAO and Zaphir, collecting and becoming better at collecting, and how to care for your collection, this book is fantastic and I highly recommend it!Peggy Whiteneck is truly an expert in this field, and has a passion for collecting Lladr that shows in every page. This second edition includes updates and new information as well as even more photos.Lladr collectors will not want to miss this! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Love the layout
He went through a lot of trouble to get actual color pictures of the pottery and porcelain along with the marks.I have a lot of books on marks but I always consult this book first because it will show the type of pottery made by a potter along with the marks.I really like it and wish he would do a second edition. It does not include histories or other detail of the potters.
5-0 out of 5 stars One of those "keystone" books for your library.
If you need a history of each pottery manufacturer, this book is not for you.The author cuts right to the chase and gives us what we need -- an authoritative directory of makers' marks. He provides a photograph of the mark and right next to it an illustration of a typical product of the factory.Although in some cases experts might quibble about what is "typical" the result is an incredible cumulative reference source.Dating has been derived from Kovel, Lehner and other reputable sources. The marks are arranged alphabetically, which is about as user-friendly as this sort of tool gets.Add to this good indices, and we have a reference tool that no museum, collector or dealer should be ashamed to own. ... Fabulous colored photographs with complete descriptions and a value under each. This price guide is easy to read and the only one I could find on general B. Potter collectibles. Highly recommend this lovely yet inexpensive book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Potter book by Debby Dubay is a must for the collector!
Collecting is wonderful and documenting a collection is an honor that Ms. Dubay has bestowed on her friends the Sewall's. There are many books on the market that go into Ms. Potter's life like expert Judy Taylor who wrote the foreword for this book! As a novice collector, of many porcelain pieces, this is the first book I could find that has the values and is actually a useful price guide for the diverse Potter collector. I highly recommend.

4-0 out of 5 stars Limoges Boxes - From Snuff to Sentiment
I found the book to be quite interesting, not to mention beautifully photographed. While I have to agree with some of the other reviewers that the book tends to be a bit jaded (since the author IS the President of a major Limoges distributor), it is still packed with history and facts. However, I would have preferred that it also mention current values of some of the many styles of Limoges boxes.'Looks great sitting on the coffee table!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Superb cloisonne photographs, excellent signature photos
A beautiful and somewhat varied collection, with excellent background information. If the exhibit had greater variety, and a little less focus on Ando in favor of other artists who are not represented, it would provide the perfect reference as it almost does. It would also be nice to see some representation of recent common products to aid in differential identification with Meiji, Taisho and Showa period wares. A must buy for the Japanese cloisonne afficionado nonetheless. ... Read more
