There is no other way to find out about head vases except to refer to Kathleen Cole's book. This outstanding book is a MUST for collectors, (buyers and sellers) of head vases.It clearly presents information andpictures about unique and collectible head vases.As a buyer of headvases, I would not be without my Kathleen Cole book. Stunning photos
I know little about Oaxacan ceramics but was immediately drawn to this book by the unbelievably beautiful photos. many of the shots are done outside using natural lighting and it gives the pieces a lifelike feel that I find wonderful. And the creativity of the pieces themselves! A wonderful introduction to one type of Mexicancraft.

One of my favourite ceramic books
This is a fantastically colourful & inspiring book...and of the many, many ceramic books I own this is definitely in my Top 5. Lots of beautiful & detailed photos and interesting text. The only downside is that there isn't really any "how to" section in the book to show you how to make the wonderful folk art featured.

A Beautiful Book

Terrific information for those fascinated with Wedgwood
I purchased this book at a magnificent Wedgwood show at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.This is a wonderful reference for anyone interested in Wedgwood as art.There are several interesting articles on how the company was established and how they developed their craft in pottery.The articles include discussion of major pieces made by the company, and their various types of pottery.
Excellent reference book for Wedgwood Enthusiasts
One of the BEST reference books on Wedgwood yet. This book is basically a pictorial inventory of all the items that are part of the Beeson Collection located at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the largest single collection of Wedgwood outside of the UK. A wonderful book with lots of superb color and black and white photos, and descriptions of all the major categories of ware, including Jasperware, Basalt, Caneware etc. Read more

"The Bible" for collectors of Vernonware.
This book is a must have for anyone interested in collecting any of the numerous shapes and/or patterns of pottery made by Vernon Kilns. I won't repeat what's said above in the book description or product details, but I will add that many years of obvious painstaking research has culminated in Maxine Nelson's 4th book on the subject.

An excellent table book
An excellent table book, with lots of drawings an pictures thats inspires you to create.
A 'tome', not just a book!
This is one of those spectacular books that makes you appreciate what a real book is! The books of Hamilton's collection of Greek vases - which convinced Wincklemann of the superiority of Greek art, inspired Wedgwood and were a linchpin of the Greek Revival - have been begging for a reprint, and this is a beautiful copy. Its HUGE, so it's going to need a table rather than a shelf - particularly if you pair it with Napoleon's 'Description of Egypt'!

Best Graniteware Book You'll Find
A teriffic book.Clear and well organized.My only warning to you is, don't expect to get the prices the book suggests.I find that 1/3 to 2/3 of suggested prices are more realistic for all but the rarest pieces.

Granite ware book 2
This is a must for the Granite ware buyers prices are great and great learning instruction of what to look for and how to tell if it is old or new I love this book and look at it often as I am looking on ebay alot. A must for the Granite people

Eye Candy Book for the Noritake Addict
Joan VanPatten's book is not for the china pattern enthusiast.This book is for serious Noritake collectors who want to see the broad range of products this fantastic factory produced in its early years. Helpful, but barely skims the surface of available patterns
Nice reference book, easy to follow with a price guide in the back. Unfortunatly, it has a limited number of patterns represented and no information on the types of pieces available for all but 4 or 5 patterns. I purchased this book hoping to learn more about the Rosemarie #6044 patternI inherited from my father, but will have to try again with a differentreference. I ended up keeping it for the information on patterns from the1920's. It's helped me identify a Morimura Luncheon set from 1922 and otherNoritake items I've purchased. A detailed and useful book for all
This is a very useful guide to McCoy pottery. The photos are wonderful, the text provides detailed and accurate information on the design and manufacturing process not to be found elsewhere ... and much else. The bookis well organized and easy to use. The pricing is fair. The authorinterviewed the McCoys themselves and has written about many differentpottery lines. This is a good book. But don't take my word for it. Check itout for yourself!

This book contains many photos and names or pieces and lines to help a novice collector recognize McCoy. There are better references for McCoy
Generally inferior to the real collector books on McCoy--the Nissen Hanson volumes, Sanford volumes, Huxford and the original Coates books. Pictures not as detailed, poor organization, incomplete reference for this prolificpottery. ... Read more

Meissen: Collector's Catalogue
I agree with another reviewer and was disappointed by the book. There is very little information about marks, periods, maker's marks (no pictures at all) and ninety percent of the photos of Meissen ware are in black and white and are not of the best quality. It definitely isn't a collector's catalogue as most of the pieces are unavailable to the public (unless they have a lot of money). As a new collector it did not help me at all. There is a book by Jim and Susan Harran called "Meissen Porcelain Identification and Value Guide" which has amazing photos and gives far greater detail on the products, the background, the marks (and forgery's) of this fascinating maker of porcelain.
