4-0 out of 5 stars Good but be careful
This is a good book for the beginning Rookwood collector. But for those more interested in the earlier, artist produced pieces, this book will be no help as it focuses more on the later mass production wares.

5-0 out of 5 stars Scholarship adds to book value!
This book is an absolute must for the Rookwood collector. The most complete survey of Rookwood figurals and paperweights available in the book marketplace today. The book gives very accurate market value estimates for each item and ranks each item's rarity from "never seen" to "common".The authors, however, deserve great praise for the scholarship which allowed them to identify the Finisher's responsible for the "Finisher's marks" occasionally impressed into the bottom of some Rookwood pieces.Having potter's names associated with these marks insures additional valuation increases for many examples of Rookwood pottery both artist signed and production.A terrific book and a great addition to any collector's library! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great book to stimulate your interest!
This great little reference guide is a bargain - the price and the information. It is a easy to use price guide - not a table top book - but useful anyway.I collect Limoges and love Debby DuBay's books but I can't carry them while antiquing - The Antique Trader's books give me enough info so I don't make any major mistakes while purchasing Limoges.

4-0 out of 5 stars Love Limoges and this book is a great value but if you want
to read about the history of antique Limoges or want info on the back stamps or marks suggest Antique Limoges at Home or Collecting Hand Painted Limoges Porcelain.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Value Guide!Love the section on Limoges!

1-0 out of 5 stars List of potteries is incomplete
If you are a collector of Arts and Crafts Art pottery this book is not for you. Of the many collectible potteries for this movement (i.e. Rookwood, Grueby, Weller, Hull, Tiffany, Pewabic, Teco, Newcomb, Ohr, Chelsea,Fulper, Roseville and Van Briggle) only two (Roseville and Van Briggle) areincluded in this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a must book for anyone that needs info on pottery.
My copy is dogg-earred, stained and marked-up. I've identified alot pieces of pottery with this trusty book I've always felt confident in it's information and price list. Please Mr. Duke another one.

5-0 out of 5 stars #1
Antique Limoges at Home is a great resource book with the marks & beautiful photos of unique pieces.Highly recommend this book.I have the book by Gaston & those by Waterbrook/Clyde and I can not recommend them.If you need a book on Limoges porcelain purchase one of DuBay's:Antique Limoges at Home, Living With Limoges & Collecting Hand Painted Limoges Porcelain.

3-0 out of 5 stars Limoge Expert??
I love Schiffer, but I prefer Keith and Thomas Waterbrook-Clyde books on Limoge!I think that their 4 books, and especially the most recently published, contains more insight into the world of limoge.

5-0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY #1 REFERENCE BOOK ON LIMOGES!A MUST!
I own all three of Debby DuBay's books on Limoges along with all of the other reference books available on the market today.I have to admit - it is hard finding this book unless you purchase it on line - but it is well worth the effort.Out of all of the Limoges reference books this book Antique Limoges at Home is the absolutely best.It covers French factory listed artists, amature artists, American Decorating Studios, American listed artists, every back stamp and mark out there, reproductions and a complete section of American Limoges marks.Antique Limoges at Home is the best and a must for the Limoges collector. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Book For The Flea Market and Antique Stores
Gonzalez is organized, thoughtful, and extremely visual in giving tips on how to recognize Vintage Fiesta from Post86 (reissued) Fiesta, as well as distinguishing knock-offs from the real thing! He discusses each of the impressed stamps and ink stamps used to identify Fiesta, as well as providing pictures of each stamp. He also shows how to measure items to distinguish Vintage from Post86. His value ranges are a bit high, but this book is invaulable when it comes to being a useful resource for new and seasoned collectors alike. This book is great to use hand in hand with the Huxfords' book. The values in the Huxfords are very accurate, but the book can be confusing - especially if you are at a Flea Market and need info quickly.Gonzalez will provide info clearly (and easy to find) without rambling.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book for Collectors of Fiesta and Lu-Ray
I am usually a harsh reviewer and rarely give a book five stars except for one with strong scholarly content. This is one where I did give five stars because the book so adequately covered the necessary topics important to collecting this type of item.It is the most comprehensive book available for information on Fiesta.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous Hardcover Volume of Fiesta, Lu-Ray & Colorware

5-0 out of 5 stars Devotional art
If you are into southwestern folk art, specifically from New Mexico, than this book belongs in your library. Do not be put off by the title being in Spanish as the text isin English, with the exception of a bilingual section. The works of master santero,(one makes saints, usually in wood) Charlie Carillo are featured throughout the book that is is in full color. The text is quite interesting as the subject of santero is explored in both a historical and contemporary context. The text does include Spanish but is limited to the foreward. The tradition of the santero is thus examined and brought into the current state. There is also a discussion of related subjects like the Penitentes, which is a Roman Catholic Brotherhood dating back to the 1700's in Northern New Mexicoand Southern Colorado. Included in the printed wordis a concise glossary that provides defintions to the terms used that includes materials used etc. to create the santos and retablos(flat wood panelpaintings). Of particular interest is the section that introduces the reader to the santos. This includes short "bios" on the santos and their particular role in the life and religious drama. This is extremely important to understand, in order to seethe signifinceof these figures for which the artist has toiledfor hours to create and "bring to life." The feast day of celebration is given as well for all of the saints "bios." There is also an extensive bibliography, information on New Mexican Hispanic Culture and personal awards and achievements given to Charlie Carillo for his works(some 3,500 pieces as of the books printing) as well as a list of exhibits that have featured his works. Carillo also shares some interesting stories related to the pieces featured which includestheinspiration to the creatve process. Although the written word is extremely interesting the color photographs of the three dimensional santos and flat retablos are fantastic. Sometimes there are two or three different related pieces on a pagebut this does detract from the fine details given each piece. An artist, like any other person in their respective field of interest should be an evolving person that gets better with age. Some his earlier works, which are featured from the late 70's are rudimentary compared to his exquisitely detailed labors of love made more recently. The various phases of his evolving artistry is outlined and displayed. These are some of the most inspirational works you will ever see from an exceptionally talented folk artist. Great stuff to browse through whenever, this is a book for anyone interested in folk art or who may be a woodcarver themself. Highly recommended for the collector of books related to the arts of New Mexcio. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This book gives excellent value for money.
I bought this out of curiousity brought on by the possession of two subtley disparate pieces of Blue Willow ware about which I was curious as I was under the impression that the patterns were all the same. This book immediately disabused me of this notion which is, in big part, why this is such a great reference:Because it shows and describes a myriad of different vessels, wares, designs, and manutacturers in FULL COLOR with information that is relevant and helpful to both the novice and the professional.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Colorful look at California Pottery
This colorful and enjoyable book makes a strong case for the importance of California's commercial potteries in drawing on the state's unique cultural heritage to introduce dramatic new colors and styles to the United States. The book is easy to read and filled with interesting facts, with beautiful color photos on almost every page. I was fascinated by pictures of pottery from the 30's, side-by-side with the handmade folk pottery on which the designs werte based. This is a must for any serious pottery collector! Note that the book parallels an exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The author, Bill Stern, was the curator for that exhbition. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars More appropriately titled: My Danish Art Pottery collection
I'll begin by stating that I am an avid collector with extensive knowledge of Scandinavian studio art pottery. And while I don't consider myself necessarily and authority on the topic, I'm not writing a book on it either.I found Hecht's book informative on some levels and largely misinformative or under-informative on others. The information gathered here filled a gap in collector's books that was long overdue. It is unfortunate, however, that this book is littered with very poor and inaccurate references to its topic. It contains either false, nebulous or no reference at all to some pottery marks and their meanings & rarity. Some of the most significant factories and artists are often barely touched on or left out completely while several pages will be devoted to others that are comparatively far less significant.I also found that of those artists featured, many have no reference to their most representative work. Not to mention, 3/4 of the book is devoted to Danish work, with the last afterthought 1/4 to Sweden, which is, in my opinion, diametrically allocated. And as for values, I don't know where these came from -- some are strangely through the roof while the very few absolute hottest collectible artists will be strangely undervalued.I hate to think that the author is providing this to help sell her own collection at terribly inflated values alongside her Fleetwood Mac albums and tour buttons on eBay while picking up the best pieces at lower prices. Some of us are not fooled.

4-0 out of 5 stars great introduction to Scandinavian art pottery
I'm not a collector of pottery of any kind.I saw this book at a friend's and started reading it.The history of the pottery houses and different genres are very well explained here and it's a compelling read.I was ableto even see styles and artists that matched my sensibilities.Overall, Ilearned something new and saw many pieces of art pottery that I enjoy.Iunderstand why Scandinavian art pottery is so collectable now. ...
