4-0 out of 5 stars ALL BLUE RIDGE COLLECTORS NEED ALL BLUE RIDGE BOOKS
TO IDENTIFY YOUR PLATES BY NAME, YOU MUST HAVE THIS BOOK.EACH BOOK HAS NEW LISTINGS FOR NAMED PATTERNS THAT HAVE BEEN FOUND.
5-0 out of 5 stars Avid blue ridge collector!
I have to disagree with the above review. I found the review to be totally incorrect and unfair. Blue Ridge China Today" is both a beautiful and informative book. What a great introduction to Blue Ridge! My wife and I have been collecting for many years and have been looking for such a complete guide to assist us in our Blue Ridge purchases. The authors are to be commended for their relevant and insightful descriptions of confusing patterns. We found the pictures, descriptions and prices to be very clear; easy on the eye and easy to understand! This book has been very helpful to us in helping us to build our own beautiful and valuable Blue Ridge Collection! In addition, it has encouraged our children to start their own collections! Bravo John and Frances! Well done! When are you going to send us more?

1-0 out of 5 stars Not recommended!
I waited with anticipation for the delivery of this most recent Blue Ridge book.I was terribly disappointed.....extremely unprofessional in its overall organization, layout and quality of photos. Some pictured itemshave values beneath, some do not. Some are not even identified. If youwere looking to identify something specific, you would nearly have to lookthrough the whole book...I have to say that it seems more like a personalphoto album with collectors holding up their prized pieces, than it seemslike a guide. There is a price guide in the back that seems adequate...butif you don't know what the items look like, you're out of luck...as thereare no pictures with that. I have the Blue Ridge Encyclopedia from 1989 andfind that book infinitely more professional and useful despite the factthat its price list is out of date and collectors have changed some oftheir interests. This book truly is more like a photo album...it showscurio cabinets full of Blue Ridge pieces, often with just one or two piecesin the whole cabinet identified....if you can even see them well enough tomake an identification. Often a caption asks one to "note" thepresence of a certain item, but does nothing to help a newbie understandthe importance of that piece!I can't imagine what the publishers werethinking. If you are a versed BlueRidge collector, you might enjoy thesesnapshots and tours through collectors' display shelves...but if you are abeginner, I recommend you start with a Blue Ridge book by differentauthors. After reading through this book one time, I thought "Well, Idon't know any more about Blue Ridge than when I started." ... 3-0 out of 5 stars The Collector's Encyclopedia of Majolica
I am new to the wonderful world of Majolica.I was looking for some reference books to help me purchase quality pieces of Majolica on ebay without paying more than I should.I found The Collector's Encyclopedia of Majolica a good reference because of the approx. 180 pages ofcolorfulpictures illustrating the various types of Majolica pottery available. This book includes a value guide for the pieces pictured in it with a fewpages of general information.I gave it 3 stars because it is helpful inpricing certain items but does not give you alot of details about thehistory of the many companies that produced Majolica. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Details entire process of production ofpottery of Santa Clara Pueblo
The beautiful polished black and polychrome pottery of Santa Clara Pueblo is rivaled in design and execution only by that of its neighbor, San Ildefonso, among the Pueblo Indians of New Mexico. In recent years it has been sought by growing numbers of collectors and investors. 5-0 out of 5 stars A book well worth buying and reading.
I have read this book a number of times and find out something new each time.I find the book well thought out, well photographed, and very informative.I am especially confused about the review from July 2002 that claimed the book had no photos? My book has photos on every page.

1-0 out of 5 stars PEDESTRIAN PRICE GUIDE
I found this guide to be of little use.All of the information contained could be easily gleaned from internet auction sites with little or no effort and no expense.Other guides make an effort to include obscure pricing with much more complete reference.Avoid this one as it is of little help.Find other guides by authors who put a little more effort into their work.

2-0 out of 5 stars Falls WAY short of helping you Buy and Sell Roseville
This is a book that someone puts together so they can say they wrote a book on Roseville- it reminds me of those cheap Printer/Fax/Scanner machines, that claim to do three things but do nothing well. There's just not enough photos, information on Roseville styles, information on fakes, or enough information on anything, to allow you to Buy without risk. In addition, the author should offer FREE price updates on current Roseville market prices at his website, but he doesn't. THERE'S MORE FREE INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET ABOUT ROSEVILLE, THAN THERE IS IN THIS BOOK. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Information and Pictures
This is a MUST READ for anyone interested in Bauer Pottery. It is a shamethat the last book about Bauer, written by Jeffrey Snyder, didn't use thisbook as a reference. Mitch Tuchman did extensive research on the subjectand no inaccuracies are found. The pictures by Peter Brenner do thecolorful pottery justice.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice pictures and history, but not much detail about lines.
Bauer: Classic American Pottery, by Mitch Tuchman a detailed account of the Bauer family business, from its nineteenth century roots in Paducah, Kentucky, until the close of its Los Angeles plant in 1962.This chronicle is punctuated by large, beautiful photos both old and new.The second half of the book features pictures and brief descriptions of the collections of several people. In all, it makes a pleasant read. The only things one might ask for are a suggested values list, something appreciated in most collector's books, and more detail conerning the shape and colors of each of the lines, to help with identification. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing
Looks like they took the larger Warman's (2004)(which I have and like a little) and republished much of the same info in a smaller version.I was expecting a significant addition of material. If you need Roseville books:Bassett's Introducing (2001), Bassett's Understanding (2002), Bassett's Prices (2005), Jack and Nancy Bomm - Roseville in all its Splendor (2004).Bassett's prices are close to reality. The Warman's (2004) book has some prices that are low and some that are right on.Many of Huxford's (2001) prices seem to be way too high.If you get the 3 Bassett books and the Bomm book, you have a good core set to use.
