5-0 out of 5 stars Can't do without it!!
I rely on these books from Florence. As always, this one is exceptional.
1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointment
Gene Florence has let true glass collectors down with this book. With so many etch patterns to identify, he chooses instead to cover more obscure things like Cathay Crystal. I did not solve one glass mystery with this book and wish I had saved my money. Also, again, he chose to completely ignore Maryland Glass. Although a fan, I cannot let this one slide. Save your money and don't bother with this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars As Elegant As The Glassware
This book is as advertised, an identification book. Wonderful photography assists in identifying glassware of era's gone by. In addition, patterns are easy to define for matching purposes, with a small guide alongside each picture which provides the manufacturer name, pattern name, colors, and years the item was made.

3-0 out of 5 stars DC, I still don't get them.
I am a marvel fan. I like DC, but I am not a die hard fan. DC is fantasy. Marvel less fantasy.(At least after that 90's weirdness.)I love Batman and Superman, but the rest of the DC Universe is out three. In the Justice League cartoon, Doomsday was just an alien who wanted a fight. According to this Encyclopedia, he was created on Krypton (Which makes his body able to kill Superman) and was sent into space in a suit he could not escape from. He lands on Earth and spends hundreds of years trying to break free. He finallly does and digs his way to surface. Instead of celebrating, he kills Superman. Wow! Get this book if you like things like this. Personally, DC leaves a bad taste and I can only take so much at one time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Can't Have Everything
I enjoyed the book.Yes, there are some characters missing. However, I don't think you can include EVERYTHING.Some things just fall through the cracks.Overall and for the most part, this is a very good text for the DC Universe. And with the way the comic universe changes, you can't put everything in a one volume text. This book came out before Infinite Crisis.Look what that did to the DC Universe.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must have for ANY comic fan.
What a wealth of information! The book covers over 1000 characters, teams, locations, and vehicles. Based solely on how much is covered in the book; this is an absolute must have for any comic book fan - Marvel, DC, or otherwise.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have for tobacco card enthuiasts!!
This comprehensive and superbly organized work is richly supplemented with numerous color and B/W photographs.A brief and informative history about various tobacco products/inserts and manufactures is provided. The book is organized principally into two units:N-series for 19th century cards (N1-N694) and T-series for 20th century cards (T1-T177).Each entry includes a brief description of the set and card appearance (front and back). The overwhelming majority of entries include an actual size photograph of a representative card (front and back) and a list of all cards in the set.Comments pertaining to card variations and prices are useful. The edge of each page is labeled with the set number to aid with rapid location of descriptions and card images. The work is peppered throughout with short vignettes and essays (published previously in various trade journals) by Dr. Terry Mitchell about specific sets or card themes.Although this is a soft cover book, the pages are printed on high grade gloss stock paper that tolerates repeated handling.Suprisingly, the book is neither overwhelming or boorish in its presentation. The brief descriptions and inclusion of images for virtually every set are effective strategies and make the book exceptionally user-friendly.No other work to date has done such a masterful job at capturing the variety of subjects, visual appeal, and historical allure of tobacco cards. This book is a must-have item for novice collectors and enthusiasts.

3-0 out of 5 stars Beautifully done; Notcomplete for all collectors
A beautifully executed publication, however as a collector of Victorian Trade Cards, I was greatly dissapointed NOT to find ANY of the cards in my collection listed.I would have expected at least ONE to have beenreferred to, but the items in the book are mostly geared to the collectorof tobacco insert cards. If this is your thing, this is your book.Forgetit if you are more geared to Tradecard collecting

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
A absolute must have resource - well organized, descriptive, and easy to use.It has served me exceptionally well each time I have had to use it!

5-0 out of 5 stars The greatest book for seriousHummel Collectors!
I have quiet a few Hummel books, but Luckey's Hummel Figurines and Plates, 11nd Edition is my favorite. The book did educate me in the different Trade Marks on the bottom of the Figurines, The Authors explanation is simple andclear. I purchased many Hummel figurines at Internet Auctions and foundthat the "Current Value" prices of Mr. Luckey's book are veryconservative and very closed to the final Auction prices! I do recommendthis book, it is the "real" thing! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Blue Book Dolls and Values, 16th Edition (Blue Book Dolls and Values)
THE resource for all your doll questions on values and dolls.

4-0 out of 5 stars Misses the mark in several categories
Although the Blue Book is the avid doll collectors' favorite price guide, it contains numerous categories that have not been updated for quite a number of years.China, parian, papier mache, and wooden, some of the earliest dolls in existence, have been gaining in popularity for several years now and the market prices, both at auction and online have been rising considerably. The Blue Book has not caught up with this trend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Reference Material
As on online vintage jewelry dealer, Atlanta vintage jewelry dot com, Warman's book was one of the first in my reference library. Sure, it has some faults, but not to the degree to make the book 'useless'. I used to spend my evenings in bed reading through the pages, getting familiar with the vast array of information.
5-0 out of 5 stars Drool . . .
Over the years, Warman's guides to antiques haveestablished a reputation for reliability. This volume is the third (2002)edition of their jewelry guide. It's lavishly illustrated with examples from many styles, eras, and price ranges. It provides a feast for the eyes and a lot of useful information as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVED THIS BOOK AND I'M NO DUMMY!
Antiquing for Dummies is a cheerful primer for those of us who were antiques-challenged. Learn what to search for and what to avoid when confronted with the possible pitfalls of flea markets and antique malls. Find out how to differentiate trash from treasure. The text is very readable, filled with puns and mnemonics.A must-read for budding antiques enthusiasts!

5-0 out of 5 stars Source of Antique Knowledge
Antique lover I am HOWEVER, knowledge is minus, MINUS! ANTIQUING FOR DUMMIES was given to me as a gift and MAGIC has been created. My brain is now functioning in the antique mode. How proud and delighted I am.I willbe forever indebted to having the opportunity to own such as informativetreasure. In fact this book will be on my future "giftpurchasing" list for my "hard to please" friends.Again,THANK YOU, from Dallas, Texas.

5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST FOR BEGINNERS OR INTERMEDIATE COLLECTORS!
I have collected, sold and even appraised antiquesand artwork for 25 years. This book is well written, and has valuable insights and tips for the beginning or the intermediate collector. It has very good illustrations, good anecdotes and hints, and is all in all a delight tohave and read! I learned a couple of things myself, and have bought copiesfor my antique collecting friends and colleagues as gifts. I would highlyrecommend this to anyone who wants to gather practical and easy tounderstand tips and facts from authors and experts who obviously have manyyears of study and work in the field of antiques, collectibles and fineart. For this price, it is worth more than many of my big fancybooks on single topics within the field of antiques or antiquecollecting. This is easy to read, humerous and fun to read, and offers goodbasic information on many kinds of antiques and fine art which are beingcollected, inherited and sold. Bravo to the writers and to Dummies! ... Read more

not a whole lot of item's. More picture's than anything. A lot of the item's in the book I beleive are way to over priced. Not a good book to take to flea market's or auction's.
