5-0 out of 5 stars Highly recommend this book very well done !
I mainly use this book for inspiration as a quick reference point for what things are worth. When I take this book into someone's house and quote off some prices...I get allot of happy screams of joy.
5-0 out of 5 stars It's a 'bible' no avid Ebay seller or buyer should be without
Whether you're a frequent Ebay seller or only dabble from time to time, every Ebay seller knows that setting prices is central to gaining a successful bid. The Ebay Price Guide: What Sells For What (In Every Category!) is the first reference to compile an array of items and their selling prices, from rare books to video games and jewelry. While it can't possibly hold every item ever listed, it does compile the most popular collectibles, and comes form an online auctioneer whose expertise covers some of the most trafficked Ebay categories. Each category's average sales price is listed along with high and average prices. Introductions to each section include risk assessments, tips on discounting, locating items on other venues, and more. It's a 'bible' no avid Ebay seller or buyer should be without.
3-0 out of 5 stars Not so thorough...
Although this compilation of items is a good start, it is not so thorough as to eliminate the need to browse e-bay for a more accurate idea of pricing. But, it's a good place to start and a great gift for any e-bay aficionado! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting Read
This book has lot of informative history of tobacco and tobacco smoking. The stories incouded were not only interesting but also full of intrigue. It includes a description of different pipes and their uses.I very much enjoyed learning about the humble beginnings of the Dunhill family. It does make a wonderful coffee table book.VERY WELL PLEASED!!

2-0 out of 5 stars More of a reference guide to pipes throughout history...
While this book is filled with fascinating drawings of strange and unusual pipes from around the world, it is certainly not one of those "just sit down and read it from cover to cover type books." Think more of an "a to z" dictionary of pipes. As a novice pipe smoker, I was hoping for something more informative on the actual mechanics of pipe smoking. I would highly recommend The Perfect Pipe by Jeffers or, if you can find a copy, Weber's guide to pipes and pipe smoking. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Crystal Stemware Identification Guide Wish List
It was dissapointing that the contents of the book is in gray and white while the cover is in color.Very misleading.Although a multitude of patterns were covered many were sketched. All in all it would be difficult to recognise patterns using just this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Crystal Stemware
Although the authors have done a great job, I felt they could make it better by including a little bit more of the antique european crystal (such as Saint-Louis) and by trying to date the patterns by decades at least(1880-1890, 1920-1930, 1950-1960). Anyway, it is an invaluable source for collectors and crystal buyers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Source for Identifying Stemware
This is an excellent book for identifying good stemware that you find at garage sales, swap meets, auctions, estate sales or something left to you by a relative. The book has several hundred pictures - either actual photographs or sketches of stemware that are sorted by manufacturer. Just browse the book until you find a match and you know the manufacturer and pattern name of the item. It also has a handly index - if you happen to know the pattern name - so you can find the corresponding picture or sketch and the manufacturer. Once you know the manufacturer it's easy to get more information off the internet. The book also references a place where you may be able to get additional pieces or sell the pieces you have. My only wish is that the book gave some historical information on the various manufactures and their patterns. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Very Good Reference Book
This book is a useful addition to any firearms enthusiast's library. It covers a wide range of pistol, rifle and shotgun cartridges, both modern and obsolete. The only thing that would make this book better is dimensioned illustrations of all the cartridges listed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Information
The 10 th Edition is a worthwhile addition to the library. The newer cartridges are here as well as the obsolete ones, including the Military stuff.Section leads are updated to include the latest information avaiable on the cartridges as well as the manufacturers and users. As usual, advice is provided for possible parent cases or sources for new cases to reload for the obsolete rounds. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars lovvvvvvvvvvvveddddddddddddd it
i lovedthis book because it gave you funny expample of how to play i also loved it because it gave you marbles that you can play with.
5-0 out of 5 stars Marble Mania is catching!
Marble Mania has fine photographs of every imaginable marble from pebbles found alongside streams to the Industrial Revolution in Germany & Austria. Here the cutting of agate cubes & polishing them into marbles for export all over the world became a huge cottage industry. You have tosee the beauty of all the clay, pottery, crockery, china & porcelainglobes. It was fun to read this big book. Found myself chatting at thelocal recycle shop about the blue canning jars in their windows filled withmarbles. Eyeing them eagerly, with a little more knowledge & a few morenames.

5-0 out of 5 stars An "Industry Standard"
I bought this book for my husband (from Amazon) for Xmas. Not only is the book very beautiful, but he has become an expert in his own right. With a year-2000 interest in things retro, marblesare enjoying a boom.We nowhave jars of them everywhere, looking great and, according to this greatbook, appreciating in value as we watch. With the help of the pricingguides we discovered that we already owned some very valuable marbles, andhave since acquired more.In fact, the book paid for itself about 10minutes after we got it, with the discovery of an unrecognized treasure. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Not your grandfathers NADAblue book
This book is great not just prices but a ton of knowledge that is extremely helpful... What to watch for and how to verify it... There are always those that try to get a little more than they deserve in any business... After reading this books hints and tips it is like you have twenty years experience in buying selling trading guitars... Many of my long time guitar experience friends are amazed when I come up with things that even they didn't know... Like serial codes that indentify what country their guitars were made... One of the biggest bang for the buck books I have bought in a long time...

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference
I use this book as a reference in pricing. I have found it to be a very valuable tool for a starting point on pricing. Also, I have found it to be a very handy reference to locate model information without having to go to several sources. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in collecting or buying vintage guitars.

2-0 out of 5 stars R is for Ripoff

4-0 out of 5 stars Three Decades is a Long Time Span
I purchased this book mostly to help date vintage fabrics from the 1930's, 1940's, 1950's and 1960's.I love the spiral binding. The swatch examples are awesome. The notes on color and styles are helpful.I do feel, however, that lumping 1930 through 1960 photos together with no notes does not really help to date the fabric accurately enough.

3-0 out of 5 stars Quilt fabrics
This book would be of interest to quilters and those interested in dating quilts. The patterns are listed in colour headings under 20 to 30 year groupings eg 1880-1910 and there are several pages in front of each year grouping with details including the period, textile colours, fabric print styles and quilt styles. The pictures are in colour and the book spiral bound so it will lie flat easily when open - good for making comparisons of quilt material.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a lovely book for anyone who loves vintage fabrics
I love repro fabrics for quilting but wanted to learn more about them. This is a particularly well done book, with good color and real-life sizing of the prints. Each period section begins with a few pages that covers what was happening in the period, what fabrics were popular, what quilt blocks and quilting patterns were popular, etc. There's also a bit on how the fabric was manufactured in that period.Fabrics before 1830 took an enormous amount of work and were basically done laboriously with hand-coloring and wood blocks -- very labor intensive process to produce prints. The prints they produced remind me (not surprisingly since India was the source of much of the cotton fabric then) of the gauzy prints from India that you still see today. There's a discussion of popular colors and dyes, and the fabrics are organized by color within each period section. Now I know what Turkey red is -- including where the dye came from, when it appeared, etc.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great starter for Swarovski collectors
I had previously owned some Swarovski that I had received as gifts and decided I wanted to start actively collect them. I was buying a lot of the older pieces on the second market and wanted to make sure I was getting a fair deal. This book was exactly what I was looking for. It had the details that I needed to make sure I was getting authentic pieces at a fair price. Great for any starter collector.

5-0 out of 5 stars A TV GUIDE FAN'S DREAM BOOK!
The episode of Seinfeld where Frank Costanza was noted to be a collector of TV Guide pretty much cemented that publication's place in the lore of pop culture. Now, from Bangzoom publishers comes "TV Guide" the official Collector's Guide.A lot of collector's books claim to be the only book you'd ever need to own but this one truly fits the bill. With over 3700 pictures, and every national and regional TV Guide cover pictured from 4/10/1953 through 10/19/2005 this is truly the ultimate resource for not only collectors, but fans of the magazine as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent
A very good selection of designers and examples. I miss more elaborate explanations about the technics used in glass production. Images are in very good quality and the colors are vivid and beutifull. Very recomended for an overall study of 20th. century glass art.

5-0 out of 5 stars Transparent goodies
I think this may well become the standard reference guide for glass collectors.Beautifully designed, accessible and I thought very comprehensive in its coverage. Starting with blown and cased glass then pressed and moulded, iridescent, enamelled, painted, stained, engraved and finally cut glass. Each of these sections is broken down into national styles, for instance, the Scandinavian section of blown and cased glass covers Kosta Boda, Orrefors, Holmegaard, Riihimaki and Karhula-Iittala.All the glass shown has a caption that includes a dimension and price guide. The back of the book includes a glossary, dealer and museum addresses and that all-important index.

4-0 out of 5 stars One Of The Most Comprehensive Guides On The Market
The Beckett Guides are the most popular guides in the world, bar none. And what I've always liked about Beckett is the depth of information contained in his guides. With this one, you get listings of sets from as far back as the late 1800's to 2001. Now please note before I go any further, if you buy this guide and by chance your card or set is not listed, it does not mean your card(s) are worthless, it simply means that what you have may not currently be receiving alot of market activity, or may be a card or cards that aren't currently known to exist. You must realize there are virtually thousands of sets on the market and newer ones coming out every week by various companies, so it is almost impossible to keep up with every one produced. So Beckett concentrates on sets that are both known to exist and have heavy market activity. Oh and one more thing, if you have rubber bands around your cards, please get rid of them. Go to your local card shop or go online and get some card holders. Condition is a key element in a cards worth, and rubber bands can cause severe damage to cards. Now, as for this book, Beckett has sets listed in ABC order and lists the individual cards of the set. So if you are putting together a set, and you see yours listed in this guide, you have the perfect checklist to keep up with what you do and do not have. For each set listed, there's a little bit of information included, and there may be production numbers included in the trivia. Beckett shows you how to collect, how to preserve your cards, how to determine condition, shares football card terminology, and has other interesting facts about football card collecting. Ahh to go to a game and load up on hotdogs. Collecting football cards brings me back to the time when I was in high school and went to the games to pull for my home team (and yes, I ate a lot of hot dogs then too). Collecting football cards make me think about the times when me and my dad would watch a game together, screaming at the players to run run run. So as I'm sure you already know, collecting football cards for most people is more than just an investment. And when I look through this Beckett guide, I see lots of cards that came out when I was younger, and they bring me back to a time(The late 60's, The 70's, and early 80's) when playing football was one of the things I loved to do the most. Beckett guides have remained the most sought after guides since the 80's and are used the world over. Some of the brands of cards you will find in this edition include Fleer, Upper Deck, Topps, Score, Playoff, and Donruss. Again, there are many other brands listed in the guide, but these are some of the most heavily traded ones. This book is a valuable tool for any true football card collector.
