A good effort to useMinkus & Scott numbers, needs editing
I thought having a book that had a cross reference of Minkus and Scott stamp catalog numbers would be great. After using the Krause-Minkus Standard I have my doubts that this catalog is all that useful. I hadproblems with several sections of stamps not beinglisted and many listedincorrectly.Several stamp pictures were swapped around and several havethe same Scott catalog numbers even when the denominations were different. As I said it was a good attempt at combining the two different publicationsinto a single catalog but I feel that more time should have been taken toedit and proof the work prior to publishing.I think that if Krause-Minkuswere to provide a credit to those that had purchased the 1998 edition itwill keep some collects using the Krause numbers.I for one would ask fora refund or a replacement 1999 catalog. ... For a collector of USA and Canadian stamps of 30 years this catalog is simply the best.Not only is it complete, accurate, but also diverse.First, the size of the book makes it easy to read and access.The various values of grades, average, fine, very fine, never hinged are included along with used, mint, blocks, sheets, and cover values.Scott numbers and BW images of nearly every stamp issued is included.Beside regulars and commemoratives, it includes air, duck, revenue and other issues.Highly recommend for beginners as it has good index, glossary, explanations of errors and differences and history.The values listed are reasonable to current market pricing. ...
