VALUE FOR MONEY, BEGINNERS BOOK ON BEAR MAKING
This would have to be the best value for money, beginners book on bear making that has been published in the last 10 or more years.The author has written this for the home sewer and doesn't assume that there is a teddy bear supplies shop just up the road where you can buy those expensive specialty items like joint sets, mohair fur, etc.Everything you need can be found at home in the sewing cupboard, at the local sewing shop or general store; eg: like buttons for joints, teddy jumpers/sweaters out of socks.Read more

Finally Bing.....
For the advanced collector, there has been a shortage of information on Bing Bears in regards to identification, charm and market value until Ken Yenke wrote and complied wonderful photos of Bing Bears in this comprehensive book.As always, I am impressed and learn more than I had hoped when selecting one of Ken's books to add to my Teddy Bear Book reference library.A wonderful book for all who seek more knowledge about our loved...Teddy Bears.

This book is much more than a report of a company's products.It is an honest and directaccount of what happened to a creative and productive enterprise under Hitler's oppression, and after that it is a beautifuldescription of the many fantastic items the company developed. Ken Yenkehas made a fine contribution to the history of the German toy industry bydescribingthe happenings that led to the demise of the Bing company.Thepictures are terrific, and the dialogue is strong and exciting.You'llwant to read every word and study every picture.I strongly recommend thisbook to all toy collectors.

Tops in my opinion for identifying and valuing these dolls!
Basically this book is THE BEST if you are at all interested in the Terri Lee dolls and finding out which one you have, does it have its original clothing and what might it be worth.This wonderful guide begins with the background and creation of the Terri Lee dolls-- beginning with the early compo dolls, the painted plastic dolls, vinyl, and hard plastic, then their recreation in 1999 and also current introductions.It has absolutely fabulous clear color photos and all dolls are pictured with their original costumes and the latest collector prices (for the year 2000).Original boxes are shown for some, enlarged pictures of the accessories, and so much more!You won't be disappointed -- it is truly a well researched reference guide and the author deserves 5 stars for this book.

Could Be Better
This book on Terri Lee dolls has some great pictures but not much information. If you really need help identifying the doll and clothes, this is not the book to buy. The book dedicates space to 1/4 page pictures of the author's grand children, Shirley Temple and lots of identical information. The same copy is duped onto different pages. ... Read more

What a Clever Book!

Classic reference
This is a nicely organized book chock-full of great pictures.It begins with a brief history of the teddy bear, conservation tips, and guidelines on what to look for when investing in a bear.It moves on to discuss Steiff dolls and animals with guidelines for evaluating Steiff dolls/animals for purchase or sale.The book covers miniature bears, Teddy Bears before 1940,Teddy Bears from 1940-1980, contemporary Teddy Bears (as of 1984), artist bears, Teddy Bear relateditems, Steiff Dolls, Steiff Animals before 1940, and Steiff Animals from 1940-1984. Not for Steiff Collectors
Firstly are you a Steiff or TeddyBear in general collector. If the answer is Steiff this book will have no use to you. The first seven pages are informative but after that it is packed full of colour pictures obtained from peoples personal collectons. It is more like a photo album of bears, although saying this, the pictures are of excellent quality. If you want to check the value of a bear pictured you have to look up the page number at the back of the book and find the relevant item. I have 15 Steiff Bears and not one of them were listed, I have looked through this book 3-4 times and all in all I am dissapointed in it. One Big Book
"The Big Bear Book" is indeed one big book! But, don't let the size fool you. The text in this book is minimal compared to the size of the book. It reviews the history of teddy bears and gives a paragraph description of many of the main manufacturers. It also includes a chapter with information teddy bear events, museums, and shops. Famous teddy bears and notable teddy bear people are also mentioned.

Delightful book!
This is a great book for the seasoned artist as well as the beginning collector. The photography is great and the text is very readable. It's a pleasure to carry with and read while traveling, as well as to study the photographs for ideas. I enjoyed reading about the artists, especially the ones I already knew; and learning about the ones I was'nt familar with.The photography was a pleasure, as well as the the text. I would recommend this book to anyone intested in teddy bears and artists!

Enchanted Journey
Cherish Me Always is a series of 4 books (3 have been published as of Spring 2002) that have grown out of the author's photograph collection. The photographs are shared in a graphic format that compliment the vintage photos. Poetry and literary quotes maintain the feeling of childhood storybook wonder. The child subjects of "Teddy Bears and Warm Fuzzies" are both girls and boys. Many of the toy companions shown are teddy bears, but not exclusively so. There are many identifiable and unidentifiable plush toys that do not seem to be teddy bears, but all of the plush animals seem to be loved and cherished by their child companions. This book is an enchanted journey back to the childhood days of bygone years.

Crazes come and crazes go. Hula-Hoops twisted themselves into oblivion, deely-boppers never quite made it out of the 1980s, and the worldwide obsession with the Spice Girls, well, without Ginger should the others now hang up their Union Jack micro-dresses as well? But one craze that isn't going anywhere is the obsession with Beanie Babies, those oddly endearing beanbag animals. This craze becomes easier to comprehend when you realize some retired Beanie Babies are fetching several thousand dollars at auction. With random Beanie Babies being retired every year, who knows what your Bongo the Monkey or Gobbles the Turkey will be worth in a few years? what can I say? I bought this book 5 days ago and anybody that has been to my house since has spent the entire time reading it! I cant get enough - give me more! The photographer has extraordinary talent and the captions are absolutely delightful! I cant wait for the next one!

Teddy Bears
I just fell in love with Steiff Bears as a child growing up in England. As a British expat living in California seeing Marc Hoberman's "Teddy Bears" brought back fond childhood memories of "chocky" my constant childhood companion. The personalities of the bears come to life through the photography making this book something special for bear lovers the world over.
