Beanie Book blastin with Information
Looking for a good book to give you information on your collection? I know this book sure helps me! This guide with it's color-filled pictures, andacurate Ty prices is the perfect book to help you with your collection. Italso has bonus ways on how to tell a counterfeit from an original. I almostbought a counterfeit Pincess and Doby, if this guide didn't help me. Itincludes a time line of all Ty Beanie Baby events, plus information on howto tell which Beanie Baby will be expenisive in a year. I bought one for(sadly) $20 and it was $40 two months later. And don't forget, this book itgood for all different stages of Beanie collecting! If you're a collector,this Beanie book is the book for you! :-)

If you collect Breyers - you need this book
I bought this book for my 14 year-old daughter as she was getting serious about showing her Breyer models.She and her cousin spent hours pouring over the pages of this book and we've found it indespensible for showing.I've read that others had problems with the poor quality of the pictures and yes, they're a little off, but still the book is great.Highly recommend.

Great For Breyer CrazyKids!
This book is great for people who love breyer model Horses! I am a big fan of Breyer horses. I really like all the photos of the model horses. I also really liked the way they have all the horse's names and the year that they were made in. I think this is a great book for kids from ages seven to about twelve. I would not reccomend it to anyone over thirteen. I think it is not only good for Breyer crazy kids. Real horse lovers will apreciate the cool models of their favorite animals! I should know, because I have a Welsh pony called Chocolate who I show on a hunter show circuit.

The best Book Ever!
I love to play with model horses and now I have a Book full of pictures of my models. If I ever have to sell my models I am going to use this book. I have really liked how they have every model Breyir has made so I can choose one I like and show my mom and dad and maybe get it for Christmas! I think this is a good book for kids who like to collect toy horses. It would be sort of silly for grown ups, thouh, 'cuz they would not need toy horses. But even thouh no grown ups collect horse toys becas they are too old, I am going to collect Breyirs when i am older becas I love them ... Read more

I'm glad I read this along with Lymon's "Mad Cowboy"
Eeeek! After reading this I am never, ever eating non-organic meat again. And if I win the lottery I think I'll raise my own critters for eggs & milk (or better yet pay someone else to do it!). This book is frightening but helps explain why many of us feel so damned cruddy most of the time. There are so many toxins and chemicals and other assorted grossities in our food supply it's a wonder many of us are still breathing.
a real good inquiry into discovery and remedies for BSE
This is an excellent activist book on the discovery of a new type of disease, BSE, also called Mad Cow Disease.The story involves a very interesting history of the science as well as the reactions of the beef and fast food industries.

The year 2000. What's in store for Beanie Babies??
I have heard that for the year 2000, Beanie Babies will no longer be. Can you comment on this, it would be a great disappointment for alot of children.

If you are looking for information in Beanie Babies, there are three magazines out which give newer, more current, and more complete information than this.Also, numerous web sites, including Ty's own, are up to theminute.Every edition of this book just shows pictures of the beanies,which we've seen hundreds of times by now and never goes into any detailabout them.Why are certain styles popular, and with whom?Some piecesare more plentiful than others and this kind of information is neveranalyzed.Until they provide more detail about the Beanies, this book willremain an inessential purchase and money not well spent. ... a useless book for a useless pastime
i just got this book for my birthday and i have to say not only is it a terrible book, but it's completely useless to me. i don't even have any beanie babies. i think my nana gave it to me in hopes of getting me interested in these silly toys, but honestly, it's only made me hate them even more and feel sorry for the people who consider them a valid collector's item. what can you do with these puppets aside from display them on your dash board or "admire" them? that's not exciting. and it's definitely not fun. i'd rather take a nap. or collect stamps. atleast stamps will be worth something in 20 years. heck, atleast stamps are worth something right now.

NICE BOOK BUT HARD TO KEEP UP WITH WHAT IS OUT THERE
Ok this is a great book. I didnt buy it normal price (I got at a thrift store for $1 lucky me!) but its a nice find. I mean I am thinking of buying the newest one for 2001. But I think I might stick with the magazine. The reason is this book doesn't have all the beanie babies that were out in 2000 because it was published before they were out. For example I love the teenie babies 2001 but they are NOT in this because it was put out before they were put out. CheckerBee publishing puts out a lot of great guides, this is sure one of them. At least they put out one for Beanie Babies updated. Puffkins has ONE from 1999 and that is the ONLY one out there and they never update, and just like Beanie Babies they are always changing too. Well so I put 4 stars not five because of it not going to be as updated as you want. There is a great magazine Mary Beth she seems updated, or try to internet. But as a new collector and as a person who wants to see what they are worth or to see at least who goes with what name, this guide was great. Gives great information on beanie baby, retires, prices and check list. Cute pictures too. So if you need a view of them or a checklist this is nice. very used book
i received this book thinking it was going to be in good shape. when i received this book it was wrote all in. for the same price i could have bought it new. Question the REAL Value
The good folks editing the reviews here at Amazon have told me in no uncertain terms that my reviews should focus SOLELY on the product itself. Comments on merchandising are entirely unwelcome, at least according to some editors here.In reference to my comments on a similar product I've been told "Your review of the Collector's Value Guide has been removed from our database, as it is not a critique of the book in question.It is not clear from reading the review that you have read the book you commented on."How one comments on the quality of a "book" like the Ty Beanie Babies Winter 2001 Collector's Value Guide, which is almost exclusively about merchandise and exists solely because of marketing, without commenting on merchandising of the products I don't quite know.(To prove I've actually "read the book", hopefully I'll be allowed to tell you that the products considered in this tome are small stuffed animal [some imaginary] toys with heart-shaped paper tags on their ears known as "Beanie Babies".I'm not at all sure that I'll be allowed to discuss these legume-namesaked infants further, though.) I do not really use this as a price guide, because let's face it, most of the common Beanies are only worth as little as 3.00. But it is a good color picture guide, and you can use it for knowing what's out there. There were so many 2001 releases, I couldn't keep track of them online. I thought the book had too much information.Most of the information was outdated quickly.The book was too expensive also.Didn't have many pictures.I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you want to read boringinformation.

Bad Business
When We ordered the book, It was suppose to ship within 3-5 business days, however after 4-months we still did not recieve it, everytime We called They would say "give it another week" So We were forced to get a refund, and that took another Month to recieve!!The least they could have done was just tell us they didn't have the book to sell, In 5-Months they never called us once, if we didn't call them, We would still be waiting with no response,altho they had our money from day one!

I was so upset when I recieved the book in the mail.Unless the book is wrong,beanie babies are going out of style.The bears prices have dropped anywhere between 10$ and 60$.It starting to scare me,I'm wondering if I made a bad investment!?

One Big Book
"The Big Bear Book" is indeed one big book! But, don't let the size fool you. The text in this book is minimal compared to the size of the book. It reviews the history of teddy bears and gives a paragraph description of many of the main manufacturers. It also includes a chapter with information teddy bear events, museums, and shops. Famous teddy bears and notable teddy bear people are also mentioned.

Crazes come and crazes go. Hula-Hoops twisted themselves into oblivion, deely-boppers never quite made it out of the 1980s, and the worldwide obsession with the Spice Girls, well, without Ginger should the others now hang up their Union Jack micro-dresses as well? But one craze that isn't going anywhere is the obsession with Beanie Babies, those oddly endearing beanbag animals. This craze becomes easier to comprehend when you realize some retired Beanie Babies are fetching several thousand dollars at auction. With random Beanie Babies being retired every year, who knows what your Bongo the Monkey or Gobbles the Turkey will be worth in a few years? A mediocre horse collectible book
This is a very poorly researched book consisting mainly of photos with captions like 'brass horse $3'. The first section on Breyers, Hartlands, Hagen Renakers and North Lights has some nice pictures. If you can't get acopy of the HR Handbook, this book has pictures of some neat horses, andthere is no North Light reference book available. There is some info onolder famous horses like Trigger, Fury, and Silver. Recomended only for thepictures in the first section. ... Read more

Great photos/accurate e-Bay prices
While this book doesn't include every beanie ever made, it does have 1,200+, with a clear color photo for every one listed. About 70% of them are Ty, which makes sense because that's by far the most popular maker. And the photos are big enough to easily identify the beanies. It's got the best photos of beans and Ty tags that I've seen in a beanie book. It's not an exhaustive manual, but it does have a lot for its size. After all, it's a pocket field guide, not an encyclopedia. Not enough accurate content.
I bought this book today because I'm an avid Ty collector.There are so many Beanies not listed, and hardly any of the various other types of Ty products.Also only a few pages of each of the other brands of plush when I know there are so many products.This is just not a very complete book.If you want a much better, although still not perfect Ty collector guide, go to Bangzoom Press and buy the Beanie Babies Value Tracker from them. ...
