Fun even for the Non Collector
I saw this book sticking out on a shelf in the library. Though I don't have a doll interest I decided to check it out. I've checked it out at least five times since then. Great Information Source on Dolls of the 60s and 70s!
This book is great. I am very pleased with it. It has lots of dolls to look at/look up. The dolls are catagorized by manufactorer but if you can't find your doll that way the index is extremely easy to use. It has helped me a lot in my doll collecting and it has also helped add some dolls to my want list. All in all wonderful book, worth buying.

As bad as Ward's Aifix book was good
This book is professional to look at, but amateur hour to read.
Great Boxart But Short on Story
You'll enjoy this book whether you're a collector of vintage plastic kits or built models in your childhood.There are wonderful photographs of some the the older kits especially from some of the more obscure companies such as Eagle,Kleeware and Rosebud.And the coverage of Airfix, Frog and Revell is excellent.However, I was disappointed in the manuscripts for some companies as there was an inconsistency in the degree of detail.Keep in mind that the author is English and as such, the descriptions definitely have an English viewpoint.The history of Airfix, Aurora, Frog and Revell are all well chronicled in other books including the excellent review of Airfix by this same author.I would have enjoyed reading about the smaller companies who struggled mightily to exist and sell their unique model kits.I also felt that the title of this book, "Classic Kits, Collecting the Greatest Model Kits in the World, From Airfix to Tamiya" was inaccurate.Where are the gift sets and isn't it a bit premature to include DML/Dragon in this group of manufacturers?Nevertheless, this is a good addition to my library and I appreciate the quality and clarity of the photographs. ... Don't buy for the values, but for identification
Ok, Let's get the negatives out of the way:
Does not have all 1990's
If your looking for a book that would have Barbie, Skipper, ken, stacey, Kelly and friends. This is not the book you want. A Great Little Book
The author of this book gives us exactly what she claims to offer. Concise illustrations of the regular "pink box" Barbie dolls of the 1990's. There are other wonderful books featuring the older Barbie dolls but the regular dolls from the 1990's are frequently left out. The full body and close up shots have been helpful in identifying my recent thrift store finds. The author provides us with issue dates and stock numbers and approximate values at date of publication. The specific head and body markings are unfortunately not included. ... Read more

Very nice ID/value guide for the collector who has to have everything.Tons of collector items listed- shown in mostly original packaging. Barclay ToysTransports & Cars 1932-1971 Review
I believe that this book will be the one people will turn to to get valuable info. on theBarclay Transports & Cars.It must have taken the authors years to compile all the information in this book .If you collect Barclay's then this is a must have book .

I found this book highly detailed and very very informative. The authors not only did an excellent job of clearly explaining the differences between the 4 basic styles but showed all the many many colors , shades and tints .I especially liked and found interesting, all the little notes and stories of the background of how and why some of these changes came about. The high quality paper and clear photos make the pictures jump out at you right off the page. The photo effectiveness really shines thru, when it came to showing all the various tints and shades of the same color.The pictures were not only close andclear but very vivid. I especially liked the authors simple, straight forward and very effective way that they cataloged these various changes. This easy, open ended system, allows more additions to be included later when they are found. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. Kudos to the authors, for taking, what had to be a huge amount of man hours to bring this much needed book to the next level . I predict this will be theBarclay " bible " for identifying the small Transports.

Hunt For Those Toy Treasures!
Are you wondering what to do with all those old toys that are up in your attic?Before you sell them at your next garage sale, or pitch them in the trash; I'd recommend that you check out their value.
A little about a lot of things, but not much about anything
This book is ok, if you want to know just a little about a lot of things and not much about anything...I was disapointed at all the collectible toys they left out...Too much on hot wheels, beanies and old tin toys and not enough on Barbie, Fisher Price etc.Nothing on Transformers, Slot Carsor other popular collectibles. Prices do not jive with Schroeders orcurrent market. Photos ok, but not great. A ok book if you want to knowjust a little about some things. I was disapointed, I returned my copy...
