Seems incomplete
This book probably has a limited audience, since it seems to be missing many items for someone else, I'm adding that its back section listing only begins with the 1980's, so if you're looking for earlier Steiff information, this probably won't have it, especially some of the more common items.

Top Vintage Halloween Guide
When I started discoveringvintage Halloween items, I came upon Mark Ledenbach's book. It became my leading guide while investigating on eBay. On his web site I could contact him an ask for advice. He was very friendly and helpful. The photos and lay out of his book are fantastic and it is better organized then other books I own. I could not have enjoyed the beautiful graphics and usual, rare items if it were not for this book. You must purchase this whether you are a serious collector or not. Have fun!

The Best Halloween Collectibles Guide
Price guides frequently suffer from poor photography. This book breaks the mold showing clear color photographs of amazing piece's in Mark's Collection. Halloween ephemera continues to be a popular collectible and this book should be part every collectors library.

AWSOME BOOK!
When I bought this book I was IN heaven It had all of the pictures I wanted to see except for the cover car.It hardly had any of my cars but Im okay with IT.

This book has some good information, but is very incomplete.It does not even contain the deora car that is on the front cover and title page of the book!!!This book only lists mint in package prices and many cars have been left out.It also contains very little variations.If you are looking for a complete price guide, look somewhere else. ... wonderful images, valuable essay
The essence of any Pueblo Kachina (Katsina) is determined in no small way by its mask (as well as by the ritual drama in which it appears). And while there are many kachina books in print, this volume by Portago and Wright emphasizes the doll's mask more than most other volumes. The Wright essay is one of his best and not easy for the layperson to find, so its printing here is especially useful. What Portago's kachina-doll photos bring to the fore is the aspect of an artist at home on either side of the camera--as a model and as the photographer. Finally, this group of kachina dolls is wonderful!

A most informativeand delightful book
As one unfamiliar with Kachina figures and their history, I was fascinated with Andrea Portago's book.I was taken with the professionalism of the book - the wonderful photography and the knowledgeable presentation of the subject.It was a most rewarding reading, taking me on a delightful journey into the Hopi and Zuni cultures.

Like Salt on Melon
I too have waited for a long time for Ms Portago's book of photographs of Kachina figurines but, quite contrary to the last reviewer, I could'nt have been more delighted with the finished product. It is absolutely delightful. One must have a dead 'scholar's eye' not to be able to see the loveand humor with which she has invested these little painted fabrications of wood, clay, cloth and feathers. They laugh at us with glee or, like Goyescas, shriek with horror from out of the pages of her book. Through her gorgeous colored photography she has breathed life and personality into her beloved subjects just as did that fine lineage of photographers from which she is derived. And as for her instinct to intersperse the glory of her colored images with severe black and white photos, in the manner ofAnselm Adams, of the epic Southwest landscape from which these effigies derive, like putting salt on melon this was sheer genius.

Inspiring!
Those who say this isn't the "real" doll house are missing the point entirely! The Williamsburg house was specially made because "Thaddeus Crane" and "Emma Birdwhistle" never had their own proper dollhouse, but lived on shelves. The book explains this quite clearly. The one-quarter life size scale is fascinating in itself. Anyone who is a fan of handmade dolls, doll houses, or Tasha Tudor should delight in this amazing book. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Not bad book, but not great
This isn't Tasha's dollhouse, like I thought it was.I got suckered in like many.Still, it is a well presented book with delightful pictures.And the furnishings are Tasha Tudor's.The ideas and elements of the design are well within the reach of the serious dollhouse collector and for that, the product of emulation, it is invaluable and inspiring.But like Coleen Moore's dollhouse, and Queen Mary's, there is a lot about it that are not within the reach of the average person.One has to realize this was not an authentic doll house, but a item made for display for people to marvel at.And marvel we do.The plans shown in there are adaptable.But I would much rather have seen Tasha's dollhouse...the real thing.

Excellent resource book
I collect toys. A friend gave me this book as a gift. It is an excellent resource for anyone starting to collect toys or someone that has been doing it for a long time. I applaud the authors for making this available.The history of the company was also quite good.

Great Game Ideas for Pool Noodles
This book is full of games and activities for small or large groups using pool noodles.I plan to use several of the games with my students for team building.The pictures are slightly out-dated but the games are not.Looking forward to trying them out on my students this Fall!

EXCELLENT REFERANCE BOOK
This is an excellent referance book for early hand made German and American marbles.It is well illistrated and easy to follow. It is not meant for marbles manufactured after the late 1920's.A must have for marble collectors.

Marble Identification
I was disappointed not only in the size of this price and identification guide for marbles, but also in the marbles that were covered.I was looking for a guide that would help me identify older, but more common marbles, not so many pages on sulphides with characters encased and rare marbles.

Not great for identification.
This book has beautiful pictures and is a nice introduction into marble collecting.However, it is not very helpful in identifying your marbles.There are pictures of different manufacture's marbles but enough information to teach you how to tell them apart yourself.

Study, look and create Bleuette's wardrobe
The book starts with a little history of the doll from French and great vintage pictures are added (through out the book) to show how things were back than and there are instructions how to make the right embroidery stitches that were used. Patterns are actual size and easy to trace. Instructions are easy especially when you're an more experienced sewer but also the novice can have an easy start sewing because there are all kinds of patterns to find in this book. From very easy to complicated (more pattern pieces, pleats to make, put trimming on etc.)you will always find the right pattern to start with.

Marbles Illustrated by Robert Block
Book is totally disorganized.Beautiful pictures, but no way of researching values.The price list is in the back organized by lot no & auction no.NO reference to the illustration of the marbles in the front of the book, no way to look it up.Starts out promising, then becomes a total jumble.Totally impossible to locate anything.Too time consuming, and then still no resolve.

Great Marble Ilustrations, but try and find the description!
This book has fabulous marble illustrations, but absolutely no cross-referencing so a user can look up the description of the marble pictured. The author pre-supposes you are an expert and know what marblemaker and type you are looking for. Illustrations are grouped together inone section of the book and each is identified only by the auction numberand lot number it came from. Unfortunately, the descriptions of thesemarbles are not in the same order. Descriptions are ordered by marblemanufacturer and type of marble.Even then, the auction numbers within thetypes are random.The book is only useful if you know what kind of marbleyou have and want to see what some similar marbles by the same manufacturersold for. It bogles the imagination to understand why any sensible editorwould not cross index this publication, so a person finding a marble theylike in the illustrations, can then go read the description. It could takeyou a week to find the matching description.The sad thing is, that datawas readily available to the author and the illustrations could have beenkeyed in a day! Worst example of editorship I have ever seen! Totallyclueless! They never thought about, or cared, how a person might try to usethe book. Save your money!I wish I had! ... Read more
