1-0 out of 5 stars Defective merchandise
I ordered this book from Amazon, and it arrived looking like it had been damp at one time. All the pages were wavy, and wouldn't even lie completely flat when the book was closed. I asked for a replacement, thinking it was a fluke, but the second copy was even worse. I returned it as well, and decided to purchase it elsewhere. This was my first disappointing purchase from Amazon, and am still surprised that they offered no apologies or concessions.

4-0 out of 5 stars Silver still shines
This publication offers many photos and ideas for Airstream enthusiast. Having purchased other books that are similar, this one offers a lot of modern ideas for those who are restoring. It opens one's imagination to the possibilities of the legendary Airstreams of times past and spans the horizon to the new. I think it would provide information for the novice as well as the seasoned Airstreamer. A job well done.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love the interior shots for renovation ideas
This is probably the best book I've see besides maybe the 75 year factory Wanderlust book on interiors. Lot's of great ideas that I've looked at many times now. Can't wait to put the ideas I've gained into place in our 68 Tradewind. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect
This book is what you need if you want to know HOW aircraft engines are made. Since it's thought for technicians, it doesn'cover (almost) at all thermodynamics, no math, just a few basic physical principles on aircraft gas turbines. This is the real point: more photos, shematics, diagrams then equations (rigor mortis).
5-0 out of 5 stars A compelling reference souce
This volume is the best publication for aeronautical gas turbine technology. It is a powerful tool as a reference and as a didactic implement.5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for Gas Turbine Technician students!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow...A Great Coffee Table Book for Any Firearms History Buff
Just the pictures in this huge volume are enough to make it worth thumbing through, but the written information is tremendous and the author manages to cover all connections to Winchesters' Fathers, including John M Browning, my personal hero (other than my Father, Uncle, Grandfather and all other veterans of WWII and Korea).Probably not all the information on Winchester firearms and ammo history but all that I can absorb and still have a social life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Eye Candy
Beautiful to look at. Not heavy in the way of company or technical history, but what a great coffee table book. Costly - if you can find it - but wow!

5-0 out of 5 stars How to RestoreClassic Farmall Tractors
This is a very informative book with lots of good color photos and descriptive, but not model specific info on evaluating, tear down, inspecting and repairing componants. Each chapter is devoted to a seperate componant or system. The paint chapter focuses on selecting different types of paint, primers, sealers. There are suggestions on selecting and applying decals. I found a nice appendix with contact info for parts suppliers and clubs. I didn't see much about tractors made after the late 50's. This book would be a great companion to a detailed shop manual for someone who has little or no experience working on tractors. There is also a chapter that gives ideas on tools and tool selection.

5-0 out of 5 stars A no-nonsense, in-depth how-to manual for collectors
How To Restore Classic Farmall Tractors: The Ultimate Do-It-Yourself Guide To Rebuilding And Restoring is a no-nonsense, in-depth how-to manual for collectors, hobbyists, and even professionals. Chapters cover how to repair, restore, and spruce up every part of vintage Farmall tractors, from engine repair to the clutch, tires, hydraulic system, electrical system, cooling system, fuel system, sheet metal, paint job, decals, and much more. Black-and-white and color photographs, explicit diagrams, and thorough instructions in layman's language distinguish How To Restore Classic Farmall Tractors. A fascinating guide for classic tractor enthusiasts and hobbyists and an invaluable resource for anyone determined to get their classic Farmall tractor in the best possible condition.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good reference book for the Lionel train enthusiast.
This book is a must have for the serious collector and casual Lionel train fan alike. The book gives good background information for each segment of Lionel train (locomotives, flat cars, etc.) as well as insightful commentary on each train car model. The pictures are excellent but if you are looking for detailed information on the parts and assembly of the trains then this book will not help.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great from R. L. Wilson
Another great book from R.L. Wilson. Every bit as entertaining and informative as the others he's wrote. Fun to read about the old west and the guns used to tame it.

My gun loving son, cried when his teacher would not let him bring this book to school to show his friends. It's absolutely gorgeous with an interesting text and glorious photos. We love the section showing the actors and their screen guns.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best book on Old West guns
This book is one of the most beatiful I have seen. If you like cowboy guns, buy this book. The extraordinary amount of information provided on the text is surpassed only by the quality and variety of the pictures. 5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Starter Books
By far a really, really good starter book for anyone looking to see what it would take to get into restoring a classic car.If you know the basics; budgeting, tools needed, what car to look for this is not the book for you.
4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Beginner's Guide
If you already know a lot about Pitman arms, rag joints, pinion gears, and harmonic balancers, then this book is probably not for you. After all, the word, "idiot," is in the title. As the new owner of a collector car who hasn't much of a clue where to start, I found it to be perfectly suited to my needs and knowledge level. The information is presented in such a way as to apply to a wide range of vehicle types, which I especially liked, since my specific vehicle interests don't correspond at all with the author's.Most importantly, the author is a good writer and the book is enjoyable to read, cover to cover.(There are a few typos, which always surprises me.)Overall, a good value and a great introduction to the topic for beginners. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars $225.00 bucks for this, you're crazy!!!!!
I paid $19.95 give or take plus shipping for this book a couple years ago. I was very disappointed with the book when I bought it, for the price that I bought it. I can't let someone pay $225 for this book.
1-0 out of 5 stars Worth It?
This book was originally $19.95 and worth every penny of that sum! Most of the information included is from previously published Military Vehicle Magazine. A purist would be hard pressed to take much from this, all of the information is contained the G-741 Tech manual. Sorry Dave!

2-0 out of 5 stars Save your money
If you buy this book with the idea that it will guide you in the restoration of your M37, save your money because it does not do that. There are a few useful suggestions but very few specific restoration tips. The book is worth its original issue price of $20 but not much more than that. It's an interesting read but not a how-to book. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars FINE CONTENT MARRED BY FAINT, SMALL PRINT
This is a nice "coffee table" book about their recent exhibit. As a rider since '59, I couldn't wait to get into the text, which is divided by time periods.4-0 out of 5 stars Essential reading for enthusiasts
Museums, exhibits and the books devolving from them only hint at the mysteries they purport to show but rarely reveal. This is particularly true of exhibits of things that move, whether airplanes, cars and motorcycles on one hand, or people on the other. Once mummified via restoration and encapsulated in historical review, these lively subjects lose their kinesthetic value and become dessicated.5-0 out of 5 stars A Can't Go Wrong Gift

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Guide for Collectors !
I started collecting Hotwheels cars about 3 years ago. What makes me different than most of the other collectors, is that I live in Santiago, CHILE (here, Hotwheels cars market is very small compared with other countries). Many of the variations and models that exist in US, aren't available here. Mike's guide has been an invaluable tool for me to get those variations I never know that exist or I will never find hanging in pegs in Santiago.5-0 out of 5 stars Invaluable Resource For Collectors
I found the 'Ultimate Guide to Hot Wheels Variations' one of the most valuable resources to date for the valuation of Hot Wheels variations; both for collectors and dealers alike. As owner of [a web site,] I refer to this guide on a daily basis for determining the minute differences between Hot Wheels variants. The guide is concise, well laid out, easy to follow, and extremely accurate (in my opinion).

5-0 out of 5 stars Written by an enthusiast for the Tifosi
Mike Covello is a real car guy and a Ferrari owner. He loves the marque and his passion shows in his writing - I follow his work as a regular contributor to Auto Week and Forza Magazine. Yes, this book does have a few warts probably the result of time pressure, the difficulty in confirming details and simple human error. But it's still one of those "must have" books that Ferrari fans need on their book shelves. I have a signed copy and consult it when I need to understand the differences between the many confusing (to me) models. This book is priced well and rich enough in detail to make it a worthwhile investment. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An outboard collector's reference
After reading the 2nd edition of Peter Hunn's The Old Outboard Book I couldn't wait to get the revised and expanded 3rd edition. I take the book with me when I go looking for old outboards and swap meets. No better reference exists in my opinion.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Old Outboard Book
This book has become the "Bible" for most outboard collectors. It has everything in one place. The big list ofalmost ALL known US outboard manufacturers,The price guide which is the only published guide of its kind, developed thru consultation with a good cross section of prominent and active collectors, Great Serial number guides, Spark plug charts, and much more.Peter's style is very readable, with a "story" connected to each brand. Hundreds of outboard collectors keep a copy in their car, while touring the country looking for additions to their collections. Most helpful to identify, and value that Garage sale or Outboard meet, find.HIGHLY recommended, especially for those new to the hobby.

1-0 out of 5 stars Save Your Money
This book is stretched between a technical manual and a coffee table book way too tight. Hunn covers the larger manuf. with research that could be found on any historical website, and briefly touches on the rare and obscure in general descriptions.Do not rely on this book for technical information.Simply order specific parts lists for the motors you have. I would like to know if Hunn's other book was better as a picture book, as this one was too poorly written to be of any enjoyment. ... Read more
