Five star pictures in a three star frame
Have autos looked any better than Michael Furman's stunning photos, I doubt it. These vehicles look just perfect with liquid looking bodywork and perfect chrome, in fact they probably look better than ones just off the assembly line.This is fine art photography and if you wonder how the 'Furman look' is achieved there is a clue on his website.Click on BIO and you'll see a shot of his studio with an amazing looking light panel hovering over what looks like a very small car.It seems to me that his controlled lighting source is the key and when digital images are printed on quality paper with a 200dpi screen you'll see the perfect picture as on these pages.

This book is another loving tribute to those classic autos that can send shivers up your spine sometimes, they're so cool. I simply cannot see how Mike's photography can be improved upon in any way, shape or form. Buy this; you won't regreat it, promise.

Okay for model history
Okay for general information. Covers too many years for details about any one model or year.

Standard Catalog of Chrysler, 1914-2000
A great resource with almost TOO much info to devote alot of print to each car. Lists production numbers, and brings back alot of memories. For having so many models, the book does quite well. Also, nice histories of each Chrysler brand, incl DeSoto, Eagle, and Imperial.Lots of pictures of just about every car listed.

Great book, beautiful!
This is a great book of historical sports cars, with lots of information and beautiful pictures. This is a neat reference and a great coffee table book, very informative and very very classy too! I really recommend this for a car person, of just someone who loves the history or simply the art of beautiful cars.

An ideal guide to American Muscle cars.
This is a big book.Its mostly color photos throughout.Each car has 1 page devoted to it,1 color photo (sometimes 2 photos)and plenty of information.Its a great book.

Old pocket watches explained
The focus is on antique European pocket watches, especially British ones, this being a British publication. The technical history of watches is thoroughly covered, the various outdated watch mechanisms--verge, fusee, cylinder escapement--are explained, and interesting footnotes are included, like the wage records from a 19th century watch shop. A chapter on repair will get you started, and even tell you how to restore the blueing on the watch hands (heat them in a tray over an alcohol lamp). The author has spent much of his life studying and collecting old watches, and has produced an easy-to-read guide filled with interesting and useful information.

A very well written summary of the watch development
If you are a "newbie" in the world of watch collecting, this is the right book for you. It focuses the watch evolution from the late 16TH century to the modern quartz watch. It has a lot of graphics and black andwhite pocket watch pictures...The book, however, is, in my point of view,intended for a quick knowledge of the watch's history and mechanics...Itdoesn't cover, for instance, the modern automatic wristwatch. A must-have for the serious model car collector
Collectors of model cars prefer to spend their spare cash on model cars, not books on model cars. I can understand their priorities, but in the case of Ford in Miniature they really ought to reserve a few dollars for an exceptional book that puts an important part of their hobby in perspective - 1:43rd scale handbuilt models of classic American cars. Randall Olson displays a knowledge of Fords and handbuilt models like few others with a stunning array of color pictures and loads of inside information. His book will surely become a standard work for the model collector - at least for that discerning collector who is willing to spend a little on books on model cars, and not just model cars.

A pale imitation
This book looks superficially like the Standard Catalog books dealing with American cars, but the data is incomplete and the editing is grossly inferior.Just a few of the problems I noticed flipping through a few sections: Lots of information on lots of cars

Comprehensive, accurate, beautiful... a fun read as well!
Adler has done it again with a sumptious book showing the true evolution of the marque. Original photogaphy of very rare cars is complimented by museum archive shots, most of which I've never seen elsewhere. What amazed me was the 1930's poster art as well... Stuttgart clearly gave him total access!
Another Disappointment
After being disappointed by Adler's Duesenberg book, I approached this book with some trepidation. In the Duesenberg book,the one redeeming factor was the excellent photos. This book, Mercedes-Benz, not only exhibits worthless and erroneous history and information, the photos are a huge disappointment. Poorly cropped, over or under-developed and poorly printed, this book will become the first automobile title that I will actually return for a refund; it will not find its way onto my bookshelf! ... Solid Guide to Bicycle Restoration
I am mainly into restoring classic British cars, but my interest in classic bicycles has always been strong.I have found this to be an excellent book for its coverage of the restoration process, for the many helpful technical tips sprinkled throughout, and for the high level historical information covering major categories of most commonly collected bikes. how to restore your collector bicyclebyWM. Info-packed and a great read to boot!
I can't say enough good things about this book! Of course it has the usual "how to remove a tire" info, but the sections on rebuilding and refinishing a vintage bicycle are plain outstanding!The information is detailed without being overwhelming. And they also make sense to non-gearheads like me. The book also gives lots of sources for obtaining vintage and reproduction parts--with URLs that actually work!One of the things I liked best about the book is that the author places much emphasis on the decision making process involved in cleaning/repairing/restoring an old bike. As we all know, many collectible bikes (and collectibles of any kind!) have been ruined by over-enthusiastic owners wanting to make them "like new." Indispensable
This is an indispensable, pocket guide for identifying Lionel Trains at train shows. It's easy to use and obviously handy because it slips easily into a back pocket. I use the pricing only as a way of identifying general area of value. Any one item could be worth more or less. Guide is great for keeping track of train items you own or are looking for.
