Beautiful Jewelry
Varvara has done it again.Her books are clearly illustrated and the projects do not fail to be beautiful.The techniques are surprisingly easy and success is possible even on a first try basis.Most of the projects are made with 11 seed beads.The projects are beautiful, easy and very gratifying.

Fancy Branch Fringe
The pieces in ths book are gorgeous and frothy, but not anything I'm likely to wear. Her 'Coraling Technique' is really just branch fringing taken to extremes; quite beautiful extremes.

A beading Musthave
This is the best collection, I've see so far.I have beaded the pendant in the book cover 5 times in 5 different colors.I just love it.

If you liked the previous 2 books....
this will not disappoint you either! Her first book was the first I ever bought, when I started beading. Loved it, then loved the second one, and third one is no different. If you're a beginner it might take you a little longer to figure out her instuctions, but once you pass that, it is easy to follow.

disappointing
This is a very good resource for a beginning beader!Good pics, excellent directions, nice explanations.However, for an experienced beader, it has nothing to offer and there is nothing "new" in it that isn't already in many other bead books.It does not inspire.

Exquisite bead Jewellary
This is a lovely book with wonderful intricate designs, step outside the square and look and amazingly different ideas.This gave me lots of ideas that I had not previously thought of.Some advanced work for those who want a challenge but also more simpler work for beginners.Lots of blends of shapes and also colours. Disappointing
I ordered this book because of all of the wonderful reviews.What a true disappointment!The projects are very basic and the designs are not exciting.And, some of the photos feature some poor workmanship!Any experienced beader will find this book to bea waste.I returned my copy.

Even Beginning Knitters Can Do It
This is an absolutely marvelous book, and not only for intermediate to advanced knitters as advertised.I learned to knit last Christmas and have already completed the sweater pictured in the upper left corner of the cover and, while it was a bit of a challenge, it came out beautifully.The individual sections in this book cover different techniques for applying beadwork to knitting - each with very clear, easy to read, detailed instructions.Also, those of you who already sew or embroider will find some patterns with basic knitting techniques with the beadwork sewn or embroidered onto the finished project.The projects range from simple to very challenging, from scarves to hats to sweaters, from minimal beading to complex bead designs.What fun!

Absolutely Georgous book!
A must have!I'm a relatively new knitter (but daring and will try even an advanced pattern!) and this book is absolutely beautiful.I am considering putting down a current project just so I can try one of these patterns! Fabulous marriage of knitting and beadwork!
Jane Davis discusses the techniques of bead embroidery, beaded fringe, beadwork applique, beading over slipstitch, beaded knitting, and bead knitting (different from beaded knitting), then presents 30 patterns for sweaters, hats, scarves, gloves, and bags. These aren't cutesy/trendy projects, either. You'll be making heirloom-quality beauties! A difficulty rating is assigned to each project (easy, intermediate, challenging). Most of the projects fall into the 'intermediate' category. You don't need to be an expert at either knitting or beading, but you should have some knitting experience before attempting the projects. Instructions for multiple sizes are available for the sweaters, but not for the other patterns. There's a glossary of potentially unfamiliar terms and a list of abbreviations, but otherwise the author assumes the reader has a knowledge of basic techniques. The photography and diagrams are flawless. The instructions are crystal clear. The author even tells you what yarns she used so you can duplicate the knitting. Not so nutty Knots
This book is actually pretty good, but more for someone who has done knot work before.I dont know that i would necessarily recommend this to a beginnner that has never done any knot or macrame work before since the patterns do not give a step-by-step illustration of what to do and this might prove difficult for someone just getting started.

This book was just so much fun!My sister and I have a weekend hobby of macrame and other types of craft work and we have enjoyed this book a lot.It's just one of those great books you can go back to again and again for different techniques and ideas.

Not what I expected
Personally I found this book rather dissapointing. The instructions are very perfunctory and often incomplete. Better instructions on most of the included tecjniques are available free on the web with a bit of searching. It is an interesting book to read but don't expect too much practical help.

Best beading guide ever
This is the most complete guide to beading techniques I've ever seen.It covers everything you could possibly want to do with beads, especially seed beads.It covers everything from beadweaving (peyote, brick, herringbone, netting, etc. stitches) to knitting, crocheting, and tatting with beads, to wire work, to bead embroidery.The instructions are wonderfully clear and well-illustrated.There are 2-3 projects to make with each technique, including a small sampler project to get your feet wet.The book is also an invaluable resource for tips and tricks and information on beads and beading.
Titled appropriately
The book is wonderful.The illustrations on how to do the various stitches are enlarged enough to easily see what's going on.You don't need to puzzle out stuff.Besides the size of the illustrations, they are clear cut with each step having its own picture along with clear written out instructions.

Excellent photos, difficult reading
Although the photos of beads are excellent, I found this book far too much like a PhD dissertation, with the feel of a synthesis, having substance but written in a format which was difficult to read. Bibliographic references imbedded in the text just add to the unreadable style. The text is painfully lacking in the kind of information I appreciate, such as dating, geography, and clear references to the individual beads presented in the photos. And references to values of beads in dollars has no relevant meaning unless there is a time reference. As a reference book I would rate it of minimal worth. As a coffee table amusement it is acceptable, but would need far more photos to make it useful for that purpose.

Beautiful Book But Not For Beginners
This is a beautifully written, beautifully illustrated book, however, it is definitely for the advanced bead collector.Its main focus is on beads the average person could not find or afford. I am a beginner in the bead collecting world and needed a book that was more of an identifying guide.The chances of me running across a bead that was illegally excavated from an archeological dig in a foreign country are slim..and I wouldn't know what to do with it anyway.I'm returning the book and continuing the search.

A stunning work of art.
This is a work of immense proportions. Robert Liu is both a scholar and an artist.This is a work which draws on both sets of skills, and the result is wonderful.For bead lovers it's a definative work.As a scholarlypiece, it likely has material of interest to those interested in arthistory and world culture as well.It's an important book and one thatwould be sorely missed if it ever went out of print--I say this as onewho's passed on books like this, only to search the world over for themwhen they were no longer available...get this one now. Excellent beginner book!
I had always had an interest in glasswork but never had the drive to look into it more seriously.My wife makes Native American bags, chokers, etc. so I thought it might be nice if I were able to help out by creating some of the beads that she would need or custom ones that she would want.I picked up this book with enough knowledge to know what a glass bead looked like and it is one of the few non-computer "how to" books that I have read cover to cover.The instructions and tips are clear and concise with enough examples to take the mystique out of glasswork.The book imparts enough knowledge to make even the most timid of beginners excited and eager to get started. As of the writing of this review I have yet to obtain the materials to start... but I know that with what I have learned from this book (not to mention having it by my side), I'll be able to successfully start the process of making glass beads and perhaps at some point become good at it (even for a computer geek ;-)

The real nature of making Glass Beads
I can say alot of things about this book. It is a complete book for the beginner in lamp working soft glass(soda lime glass). It starts at safety, tools, equipment and studio set up. This book filled in a number of blanks from some other glass working and bead books left that I own. A lot of craft hobby books assume you know more than you do. From the first bead you wind, to the advanced techniques. You are guided with well lit niced sized pictures of what is being described. With boxed notes of important info that needs to be reinforced.
