4-0 out of 5 stars lovely pieces
Great book for stringing ideas. Case is obviously an expert in this field and she shares much of her knowledge here. Lots of good tips on how to make her designs. They are really beautiful. She organizes the book by type of bead. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because she says to string the beads according to the picture and while the pictures are very pretty, they aren't large enough to see that clearly the order of the beads. Each item is rated on a scale of 1-10 and time given to make the project along with all the items needed. Her hair slide or barrette has very detailed instructions on how to make it. Also there are lots of good earring ideas here. I've just ordered her earlier books. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book! A "Must Buy" for Novices and Experts Alike
I bought this book after learning how to do a couch stitch. After one night of beading, I had learned many different stitches and was creating works I didn't think I could do! This book is a "must buy" for any new beader and I can't help but think that it would also be a good book for anyone who has been beading for a while but needs some new ideas. I checked out several beading books, and really believe this is the most helpful! Thank you Nancy! You've inspired me!

5-0 out of 5 stars Off the Beadin' Path
I have worked thru the exersizes in this fun book and found it to be an exciting and a challenge to me to push the boundrys of creativity a bit.Such fun and clear illustrations what a joy.Easy to follow and well written.Better than a lot of the other bead books I own.

5-0 out of 5 stars Off the Beadin' Path by Nancy Eha
From the personal growth challanges in doing a Discovery Journey journal, to the examples of stitches used in creating original beadwork I have found Nancy's book a wonderful way to get out of the creative stuper I was in after moving from Ct. to Fl. I now can just sit down and throw beads together and before I know it I have a wonderful piece of bead art that all my friends admire, and to tell you the truth some of them envy because they feel I am so talented, (if they only knew the secret was what I learned from Nancy's book.) A must have in any beader's book collection to open up the artist in all of us. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars This book was very disappointing.
As a beginning to intermediate beader, this book was a disappointment to me.I guess I should have taken the title more seriously! The projects lack inspiration and the photographs are of poor quality. Many of the pictures are repetitive.I also felt that the book is not organized in a logical fashion and, although it covers wirework, it does not even mention wrapping a donut or a pendant or a basic rosary turn.If you are looking for a really good basic book on beading or you want to find some fresh new projects, this book is not for you!

1-0 out of 5 stars No pictures for critical steps
I purchased this book to learn HOW TO ATTACH CLASPS. Well, there are NO PICTURES to go along with the step by step instructions. I am a total NOVICE at this, and with all the great reviews I figured this would be the ONE BOOK to get ... no. I still have no idea how to modify a necklace on a leather cord to attach a clasp. If anyone can offer any help, I would appreciate it. But I would not buy this book if you don't know how to attach clasps.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great source of beadwork and info; but not very inspirational!
While the title of this book is rather offensive, it must be admitted that the text inside provides a thorough introduction to all types of beadwork.

2-0 out of 5 stars Way beyond beginner
This book is your standard seed bead how-to fare.First you learn the stitches, followed by projects using the stitches. The trouble with this book is that the projects are far beyond beginner level. If you are just starting out with seed beads, their size alone is daunting, so look for a book with easier projects.

3-0 out of 5 stars Art of Seed Beading
I was disappointed not to find more jewelry patterns in this book. The first chapters have very helpful and enlightening descriptions about types of seed beads and how they are made. The instructions on basic stitches are well-described, also; however, I found many of the projects themselves to be of little general interest given what one finds in most other beading books.(I realize that this could be my own bias!)With a title as general as "the Art of Seed Beading," I thought there would be more instructions on how to alter basic techniques such as peyote or netting to create unique pieces.I did like a couple of the projects, though, and I found the opening chapters very helpful and useful.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Projects, OK Instructions
I bought this book for the patterns... especially a wonderful elephant necklace... and they are great.Unfortionately, I also bought this book to learn from and ended up with alot of trial and error time before I understood the directions. She doesn't explain how to hold the work in order to maintain tension only mentions that it is important. The pictures of techniques are misleading but if you ignore them and read the instructions only it makes alot more sense.Good point though... the projects are not as hard as they look and come out wonderfully. All in all this book was well work the money. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars great, inexpensive fun for adults and teens
this is a great book. The author goes into great detail about making dozens of paper and fabric beads. I would recommend this book to any crafter who enjoys jewelry, beads, paper crafts, recycling, and new and unusual crafts. Good instructionsare easy enough for a pre teen or teen to follow-good party, scout craft idea. Buy it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Exquisite and artistic bags
I agree with other reviewers that this shape of book is not the easiest to read, but I flattened my copy and put a weight on it to hold it open while working... no big deal. It's what's inside that counts!
3-0 out of 5 stars great stuff, bad format
I have to first say that the photos and projects in this book, as well as the others in the Beadwork series, are gorgeous. They are not your typical jewelry items:they show unique colors and mixtures and ideas.Love that part. What I hate about the book is the format...it is long and skinny with a tough spine. In other words, extremely difficult to hold, much less do a project from. It's so narrow that the inside page closest to the spine often cuts off certain words.I tried going to office max to have one drilled to be loose leaf, with the spine cut off, but it still makes for awkward work. Why they couldn't make this a full size book with a lay flat spine is beyond me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Designed to appeal to all levels of beadworkers
Jean Campbell edits Beaded Bags, a survey of 30 bag projects designed to appeal to all levels of beadworkers. These aren't just the usual rectangular bags; they are especially notable projects in presenting a diversity of bag styles and designs, from clutches and drawstring purses to wrist bags and market bags. Techniques range from embroidery and loom weaving to bead crochet, with plenty of colorful photos and step-by-step clear instructons. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Directions - Limited Projects
Very detailed directions for all sorts of netting; if you can't learn from this book, you won't learn at all. However, there are only a few specific projects included so you need to be able to take the basics from this book and use your own imagination and creativity to actually produce jewelry, home decor objects and the like. The photos of netted objects from all cultures are facinating; there is even a netted window valance!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good How to on netted beadwork
I've tried other method of "beaded beads" but the method outlined in this book is the simplest yet. I've been carrying a small container of beads with me on airplanes and make one beaded bead in about an hour. I haven't tried anything else in the book, but Diane offers plenty of inspiration.

5-0 out of 5 stars it's great, as expected
All her stuff is fabulous, but I have to say this is one of her best yet.You are not just getting instructions, but the illustrations actually open your mind to new color combinations, textures and possibilities.Highly recommend ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Poorly Done Book
This book is very shoddy and I'm sorry I bought it. The color plates (what few there are) are re-screened from another publication, they suffer from moire and look awful.
4-0 out of 5 stars Really Good Book with Great Ideas
I got some pretty good ideas from this book and am very glad we bought it.I would recommend it to anyone interested in the hobby. There are other books out there that have maybe a little better presentation, but overall this is a really nice book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good book for beginners
I'm in my 30s now.....I wanted to re-learn how to make a plant hanger like I had done about 20 years ago in 7th grade....Try as I might I couldn't remember how to do it from memory so I went in search for a good book from the '70s that could remind me.This is a pretty cool book - its has the basic knots that I was looking for and has good instructions. It still seemed easier to do when I was 12 yrs old sitting there in art class but this book gave me a good start. It has a wide variety of things to make and many pictures to show/inspire.Don't think I'll be making that macrame purse with fringe but the plant hanger was good. ... Read more

This is an okay book if you looking to bead whimsy costume jewelry for young girls.Actually some of these projects could be done with young adults. There are a lot of illusion style projects.Just was not for me.

I Like this book for its Simple.it is easy to make the projects ,not real expensive to get the materials or one probably already has them on hand..and one can incorperate the projects or parts of them in any of jewerly/beading/or polymer clay pieces..I wouldnt recommend this book for a real Intermediate or advanced jewerly maker..its for people like myself..or my daugther who are new to this craft and want to have some trendy pieces to wear and or sell...it has more ideas to me than patterns ill follow step by step,And most important the pics are wonderful....Mrs.C ...
