A beautiful book
I enjoy this book and similiar ones that are based on a Waldorf-education approach to crafting. The projects are well-explained and useful as well as beautiful. "Kids Embroidery" is a down-to-earth book of crafting with easy to follow directions.

Excellent Embroidery Book
I recently purchased the how-to-book of Kids Embroidery, by Kristin Nicholas. It's terrific.The book is descriptive with step by step lessons on how to make an embroidery project.I have 3 girls, elementary school age that can follow the directions in the book.It's exciting to see the vivid photos of multi-cultural children in the book, as well as the illustrations of how-to's.I would recommend this embroidery book for anyone who'd like to give a gift to a child or adult, buy for themselves, or donate to a teacher's classroom for projects during school.This book will keep the kids busy for hours, and in the end, they'll have crafted a beautiful project as a gift or for themselves.

Crafts for Children
Wonderful book with great ideas that can be
I was disappointed
There are lots of crafts in the book, but very few that I thought were very engaging.If you're looking for something that will be finished in 15 minutes this may work for you.The most disappointing thing was that out of 200 crafts, there were only one or two that provided patterns.I'm planning to return it for a refund.I liked Preschool Christian Crafts a whole lot better.There were only 37 crafts in it, but patterns were provided and they were fun, yet simple enough and engaging enough to satisfy preschoolers.

Excellent Book
I am the secretary for the Cubbies for our Awana program at our church.I am in charge of comming up with a craft for each lesson.This book has everything.I like this book better than the rest because it has crafts based on the stories from the Bible, where as a lot of books have crafts for stuff like sharing, praying, or loving your neighbor (nice but not what I need). ... 101 Good Reasons to Cut the Plug off your TV
Get those boys out of the television's gravitational field and send them out to do one of thesenifty projects. Make stuff, do stuff, learn cool tricks from this great little book. Better off trying to pass an uninflated 260q off as a worm.
The only reason this book doesn't get a ZERO is that you have to give at least 1 star. Aaron's first book (Balloon Animals) was worth picking up but this one is a total disappointment. (Even at $2.00) Almost all of the figures in this book would not even be recognizable without the animal's name as the title of the section you are reading. Please PLEASE don't waste your time. Go to the Qualatex website and get "260Q Figures", and "Advanced 260Q figures". Just look under the "Balloon Magic" section. If you are a beginner, or thinking about just getting started, I would suggest getting the "Balloon Fun" creative activity book. ISBN 0-7853-1140-8. This will give you a VERY good foundation for doing twisting. Very nice animals, a nice flower, a couple of hats, and a couple of other very nice items.

A great beginner's book
This was the first book I read about Balloon Animals, and it got me off to a great start.The patterns are introduced in order of difficulty, and the author provides a nice foundation to build on.The first instructions are extremely detailed, to get you going without any confusion.My son and I spent an evening making animals from this book, and within a couple of hours we felt like experts. Not my favorite
I had watched a number of balloon sculptors make things for my daughter and I decided to give it a shot.I had bought some balloons and a pump and just messed around until I came up with the basic flower, dog, giraffe and sword. Friends wanted me to make more balloons for their parties, playgroups, etc so I thought it would be nice if I could make a few more shapes the kids would enjoy. I bought this book knowing it came with balloons and another pump, but I figured the pump could be used if I recruit a helper at one of the parties. When it all arrived, I was ready to dive in. The pump is the type, however, that will cause your hand to cramp in short order if you are doing more than a couple of sculptures. In addition, I barely found any sculptures that were useable in the book. Many are the type that you would hand to a kid and they would say "what is this?" There are a couple of useable sculptures in it, but I think I'd have to recommend another book altogether for maximum enjoyment. After all, it isn't much fun to make something that is unrecognizable! ... Read more

A must have!
Thinking of teaching a child to quilt?Don't miss out on this book if you are.
This is an excellent introduction to quilting for children .
This book is an excellent introduction to quilting for children.It gives step by step instructions on simple quilts and wall hangings in several different sizes with a variety of themes .The methodused in thisbook allows the child larger pieces of fabric tosew together. A quiltingruler and a marking pencil are used to make lines that the children thensew over. The method does waste a small amount of fabric that iscut offafter sewing, but theses scraps could be saved for the children to uselater when they get into more advanced quilting techniques. Thedifferent blocks are based mainly onholiday themes. The largest project is a wall hanging with a block that would represent each month. All designsare interesting to young children from cats and flowers to baskets andhearts. Other projects in the book show you how to take one block, such asa heart, and quilt it in different fabrics. They also give the child ideasof how to go beyond the instructions and ideas presented in the book.Thebaskets in one idea quilt were allfilled with different items.Theseexamples allow the child to think about going beyond the patterns presentedafter they master the simplier blocks in the book.I plan to introducemy daughter and her friends to quilting using this book. Super Stickers

I am using this resource with homeschool Pre to 2nd grade children.This coloring book helps Greece come to life with pictures of markets, shipping, a wedding, several different tradesmen at their trade, children playing, senate, theater, school, ect...
Coloring Ancient Greece
I like this coloring book for children because it will help bring lessons on Ancient Greece to life and reinforce basic facts.It is organized primarily by chronology, has fairly complex drawings with enough detail and background for interest, and most significantly contains abrief historical note at the bottom of each picture.It includes highligts like Solon introducing reforms, Hipparchus being assasinated, Socrates being found guilty and condemned to death and Aristotle tutoring young Alexander.It also includes more general topics like weddings and funerals, the market, shipping and more.There is some male nudity (not frontal) like at the Gymnasium and Olympics.There is some incorporation of Greek mythology (like sculpting of a statue of Hermes, and consulting an oracle at Delphi.)Note, however, the art is not done in Ancient Greek style, but rather more realistic, scene by scene. Delightful book, bursting with ideas
As a tremendous fan of Louisa May Alcott's works, especially Little Women, I enjoy reading anything related to the novel.Ms. Penner's book contains ideas on crafts, hairstyles, edible treats, games, celebrations, and more,all corresponding to the March sisters' experiences. Although aimed atgirls in the 8-12 age range, the book will appeal to anyone young at heart.It is charmingly accented throughout with watercolor illustrations. Great for babysitting
I have used this book and the others in the "Child's Play" series for years with lots of preschool and elementary school-aged kids.It is particularly great for babysitters because all the activities can bedone using materials everyone has around the house, so you can justscrounge in the kitchen and office for paper, egg cartons, crayons, andother odds and ends for and end up with really cool finished product.Kidslove it, and the activities are easy to do and easy to clean up after. Plus the illustrations are cute and funny.

I really liked this book!
I spend every Saturday with my 3 nephews. One is 6, the others are two 3-year old twins.This book has saved my life!So many times the kids have been over and I haven't had any idea of how to keep them occupied! Since about January of this year, I've been using "200 InstantCrafts" as an instant sources of great craft ideas.The best part ishow inexpensive the crafts are to make.I really do have most of the stuffaround the house.The guidelines that tell me for what age the craft isappropriate have been an immense help to me.I had no idea what a 3 yearold could and couldn't do as opposed to the 6 year old.Using theseguidelines keeps me from asking the kids to do something they aren't readyto do.I'll be using this book all Summer!Thanks. ... Great Resource for Language Arts!
This book is one of the best resources on the market for language arts enrichment. It is authored by Trish Kuffner, who herself is the homeschooling mother of five. Picture Book Activities utilizes 50 award winning children's books such as "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Blueberries for Sal, Madeline and Harold and the Purple Crayon" as the basis for its curriculum. The curriculum is divided into the categories: Before You Read, As You Read, Let's Talk About It, Arts and Crafts, Cooking and Baking, Fun and Games, Rhymes and Finger Plays, Fun and Games, Let's Pretend, Music andMovement, Play and Learn and Enrichment Activities. There is also an appendix which covers basic craft recipes, making books with children, children's book awards, and picture book resources. On the book cover it states "fun and games for preschoolers" however this book can be utilized with children pre k through grade 2.

Encouraging a love of books
I have been using this for about 4 months with my 3 and 5 year old boys.We love the entire experience we get from this book.Always having loved reading, this book has triggered a deep desire and great enjoyment in finding and reading good books to my boys, and then doing the related activities.I'm asked several times a day if we can do more activites for whichever book we are currently on.

Picture Book Activities
I totally agree with Trish Kuffner's philosophy on reading. The quotes she chose for the introductory chapters are absolutely priceless. Her short book reviews for each selection are delightfully insightful and the stimulating related activities project cozy, loving approach. Makes being a cardmaker easy!
This book is sooo clear, direct and supplies you with all you need but a knife and scissors.(and glue) The ideas were all so easy once you cut the templates and having more than enough product to make one each of the items was a treat!

Creative fun for old and young alike...
Simply a delightful way to create cards for all occasions. The templates are sturdy and the instructions are so user-friendly. This has become my standard birthday present for children (mostly girls), 9 years and older, although my teenage son often joins his (...) sister in the creative process. A special treat is to accompany this set with a collection of interesting papers from a craft store and you have a gift filled with endless possibilities and love.
