4-0 out of 5 stars Easy and Fun Aloha Project!
This book is written in an easy to understand manner, with lots of helpful "real-world" suggestions.I was able to complete a four row lei in about five hours (and I'm a relative beginner to reading crochet instructions!)My only complaint is that the pictures could have been clearer - it's really hard to see the stitch definition when they are using Fun Fur!

1-0 out of 5 stars OMG!!Aaaack!
Sorry, I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.I love yarn.I love crocheting and knitting. And I love admiring others lovingly handmade items. But I do NOT love eyelash yarn or any product made out of it.And I can't believe anyone over the age of 5 would ever want to wear one of these leis. Please, Coryn Tanaka, write a crochet book about something people (grown adults) would actually wear!!!And please include in this future crochet book:clear and concise instructions on HOW to crochet. That would greatly help any new crocheters out there.

4-0 out of 5 stars good, but i expected more
i absolutely love eyelash crochet leis and have been looking forward to getting this book for a long time so i could finally make them for myself. the designs are gorgeous and the list of school colors is quite handy. the instruction on crochet stitches was not very clear, however, and i'm still not secure in how to do the stitches. the pictures in this section are not the best either. this is the only weakness i have encountered so far. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Mary Frances Knitting and Crocheting Book
This is an excellent book for teaching a young child to knit. The projects are small and quick to make so young people do not get bored with something that requires a lot of concentration. The illustrations are helpful and the format very charming.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cute Book for Children...
This is a story book format for teaching children who show the inclination to pick up knitting or crocheting. It is a cute fantasical tale, with clear black and white photos throughout of how to hold needles/hook and of finished projects. If the child looses interest in knitting or crocheting, then they still have a cute little story to read and treasure. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Skip this unless you prefer openwork crochet.
I bought this hoping for some new and interesting all-over patterns. What I found was a book that was really focused on openwork and motifs. If you prefer that sort of thing, this book has a lot of designs, but a lot of them are in the Readers Digest Ultimate Sourcebook (also published by Harmony, but in a softcover and more expensive!!).They've even used the exact same pictures. And, for the price, you're better off getting the Ultimate Sourcebook.
5-0 out of 5 stars Another Must have for every crocheter
Not only do you get more stitches but the Afghan/Tunisian tutorial in here is well OVERLY complete. No there are not any written out patterns, but the stitch dictionary can help you create your own patterns.Be sure to get the Harmony Guide Volume 6 to go along with this one, both books are a must have for any crocheter's library.

1-0 out of 5 stars mostly re-hashed stitches
I purchased this book, sight unseen, based on the glowing reviews given here. I'm very disappointed and would send the book back if the hassle of doing so wasn't greater than the cost of the book.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Lots of variety ranging from absolutely stunning to horrid
A variety of thread and yarn crochet projects can be found in this book and you will most certainly appreciate severalprojects.I personally liked most of the thread projects like the absolutely gorgeous x-mas ball covers (shown on the front cover) and the notions (piano, bassinet, swan etc.Overall though, I found myself unimpressed with many of the yarn projects in this book. A few of them are cute like the Mr. and Mrs. snowman pocket scarf and ear muff set, the nativity set, musical angel, gingerbread house and a range of different ornaments but the afghans are all average looking (as I have seen much nicer ones elsewhere) and a few projects are quite horrid like x-mas stockings made with black and brown yarn, an ugly pine cone wreath and a gingerbread tree skirt pairing up again black and brown yarn along with the more traditional x-mas colors. I was also disappointed to find that several of the patterns can be found online at freepatterns.com. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great *intermediate* book with tons of variety
While the crochet patterns in this book aren't necessarily *easy* (most are intermediate with a few advanced) the projects are extremely creative and modern. The afghan patterns are the best (and there are lots of them), one with blocks that display multiple kinds of stitches in each block, one with star blocks, one mod looking one with diamond blocks, one with pine tree blocks, and more. All have good contemporary graphics. Lots of patterns for several great hats, many, many shawls and sweaters, and various bags.Variety is certainly a feature of this book, and something for every age group.Like I said though, this is not the place for a beginner to start, except for a couple of the projects, and it certainly doesn't provide any lessons on *how* to crochet, just brief reminders really for those who already know.If you do know how to crochet, the book provides great charts and diagrams for how the stitches should look and how to size the clothing, helpful for visualizing what it is exactly you are doing. Great book to look at for creative projects, color scheme ideas (the color combinations they use are very contemporary), and not easy but not too complicated projects. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars MAJOR MISTAKES!!!
Before you decide to purchase this book, be aware that there are some MAJOR mistakes! The instructions for the V-Neck pullover given on p. 24 are NOT for the sweater pictured. Apparently these instructions are for the vest pictured on p. 79 though it is hard to see the stitch pattern clearly. The instructions on p. 78 are probably for the sweater pictured on p. 25 even though the color yarn called for is ecru rather than aqua as pictured on p. 25. The motif pattern and raglan style given on p. 78 match those pictured on p. 25. Unfortunately, I found this mistake after I had finished the front and back of the pullover only to discover there were no directions for sleeves, only armbands. It was then that I decided to give the instructions throughout the book a closer look.

5-0 out of 5 stars wide-ranging doll collection
Thank you Amazon for having this book here. I ordered it sightunseen and it is just fantastic. All kinds of dolls that are crocheted including animals and an INdian couple with beads. I can never have enough doll books and this one is very inclusive.
3-0 out of 5 stars Annie's Favorite Crochet Dolls
Frankly, I was disappointed.I felt the title and cover of the book was misleading because I was looking for DOLLS to crochet, not doll clothes! Most of the patterns in this book are for Barbie doll clothing, not for actual dolls to crochet as is shown on the front cover. However, the few dolls there are to crochet are cute, which is the only reason why I did not give the book a lower rating. But if you are looking for actual doll patterns and NOT doll clothes, then I would save my money and look elsewhere.

4-0 out of 5 stars Annie's Favorite Crochet Dolls

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Mix!
If you like texture, there's one in here called Shadow Box Trellis. It's all these trebles worked 2 in front, 2 behind until you get this honeycombed effect. It's very effective in the single color. For charm, Michigan Tulips has a folk art feel with it's insertion of panels of big, bright tulips between panels worked in a lacy design. There are a few hooded type blankets for babies, a child's afghan that's embellished with ten rows of crocheted edges across the top ( I like that one!), and a Bunny Faces afghan that is made with granny squares whose center is a bunny face with 3-D ears. The rest are a really good assortment of designs. Something for everyone here. Shells. motifs, MAM, double-ended, crochet-weaving,filet,ripple, it's all here. There is one afghan that's made with Lion Brand Homespun called New Day Dawning. It's fringed with Homespun! You can see in the photo how the Homespun fringes are starting to unravel. You need to tie a knot on the end of every fringe to keep them from exploding into an unraveled mess. There are enough patterns in here to hold your attention. You should be happy with this book no matter what your skill level.

4-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Afghan Patterns
This book has each pattern given with suggested brands of yarn for chosen textures and colors. Also a difficulty scale for each pattern so one can choose their own speed and ability.Lovely and often unusual patterns to opt for.Enjoy!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Oregon Coast pattern
I have just completed the Oregon Coast pattern from this book & love it!!!!!I will definitely have to make more afghans from this book.Although the book says the patterns take 16 hours to complete, mine took 23.But, I also have to mention that the fastest I've ever created an afghan before was 1 1/2 months! So, I think that these are absolutely wonderful patterns!I have & do recommend this book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The perfect gift for a beginner
Want an inviting crochet kit which goes beyond the usual spiral-bound book format? Based on the book Cozy Crochet, here's a wonderful gift book pairing a book with basic crochet techniques with five different-sized crochet hooks, yarn for several projects, and over twenty patterns printed on lightweight cards for easy viewing. Cozy Crochet Kit is the perfect gift for a beginner.
3-0 out of 5 stars Nice project but the tools loosy
I like the projects that are in this kit, but the crochets that the author provides are useless.Within an hour of strating one of the projects the crochetG, that I was using, broke in 3 pieces. My advice to you: buy your tools somewhere else before you attempt to do the projects.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent and fun resource for a crocheters bag....
Although not for the advanced crocheter, this kit includes all the basics for someone to get started and to try some new projects. I have been crocheting for years, my grandmother taught me and I liked the ease of the cards and some cute new projects to just whip up for gifts or fun. I also bought a few of these for some friends I am teaching to crochet. This with the encyclopedia of crochet will get anyone started, even those that don't have help. I think for someone young, or even in their 20's or 30's they would enjoy making most of these projects for sure.... other ages would depend on a persons style or ability to modifiy patterns to their own tastes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Book of Crocheted Clothing!!!
Yippeee, a book that has crochet pattterns that you can actually wear! Believe me, I have all the books and this one is A+. Gayle Bunn is an actual designer that actually designed the projects, not like some of the other books like,Stitch n Bitch, that uses patterns from many designers (with multitudes of mistakes). There are shawls, shrugs, wraps and scarves but the way they are constructed tells me Ms Bunn knows her stuff. There is a gorgeous green sun dress that uses a G/7 hook and cotton yarn, a luscious pansy garland scarf made of Reynolds Saucy and F hook, flowers and crocheted beads, a suit in a silk/cotton blend and H hook, a lace skirt made with Aunt Lydia's Fashion Cotton and an F hook, vest, bags (one felted), bikini and vest, a belt of chain loops made of Merino wool, and a flair sleeved cardigan. I love that this book uses easy to find materials. The topping on this sundae of a book is that there are numerous color UP-CLOSE photos of all the stitches.

5-0 out of 5 stars Crochet for the 21st century--finally!!!
I LOVED THIS BOOK!
1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing!
I received this book today, which i was excited upon until I opened the cover and started reading.Almost all of the patterns are a form fitting halter top and small skirt, alot of belly showing. I dont mind showing a little skin but every other page was like that! The patters were starting to look alke. Alot of themusing Lionbard Glitterspun or something just like it.The was a Berrocco suede 2 piece halter a skirt i like until i saw the back, which would make you look like some street tart!! A red duster with multicolour feathers coming down the sides which was so ghastly not even your old schooled grandmother would attempt! with the model doing her best to make the ghastly thing look good, most of pattern have some type of open work, a ridiculous bolero, a cheap looking sml tote bag, plastic beaded necklace and bracelet. The only nice thing is the body suit on the cover and who is going to wear that every where they go!NO, nice sweaters or cardigan, stiff yarn, and the worse possible colour combos! The stitches are easy, mostly for beginner, possibly intermediate, intermdiate-advance my cry at the boredom. Save your money on this Im sorry to say this is going back, with a "Refund immed!!!" ... 5-0 out of 5 stars my inner crochet artist comes to life
What an awesome book.It didn't take much reading before I had to go out and get a hook and some yarn in order to try to co-create with Noreen Crone-Findlay.Although I hadn't held a crochet hook in over 25 years, her clear instructions and dazzling designs kept me motivated. Lest you be overly impressed, I did begin with Chubby Lady Bug on page 109, an adorable little being, and perfect for a beginner, or someone returning to crochet.5-0 out of 5 stars I love this book!!
I love this book. It's absolutely beautiful and magically inspiring.I want to start at the beginning and make every doll in it.Noreen gives plenty of info for beginners and those who like to work from a pattern yet leaves plenty of room for those who want to take her work off in their own direction. If you love dolls and crochet, do not fail to own this book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing
I was very excited when I found out that Noreen Crone-Findlay was going to do an entire book on crocheted dolls. However after buying the book , andgetting a chance to go through it...I must say that I am very disappointed. It's perhaps the most disappointing book I've ever purchased. The dolls in it are very amateur in their presentation. Few of her examples/projects rise to a standard equal to that of someone just learning the craft. Most of the projects seem like an explosion of yarn. Your craft book dollars would be best spent elsewhere. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars beautiful patterns
they are beautiful patterns, but not what i was looking for. Im not found of making bedspreads from thread [ tho there is no denying their beauty!]or even lace to sew on dresses, hang on shelf ends etc. I was thinking / hoping there would have been more doilies and baby items in this booklet. It's pretty good anyways, just not myfavorite.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Patterns for Intermediate to Advanced Crocheters
Lots of Irish crochet doily patterns!Irish crochet is an intermediate to advanced technique of crocheting. It is very tedious and time consuming, yet the results are stunning! This book has easy to follow written out instructions. Most of these designs may take some time to master, but you'll definitely end up with an heirloom treasure.Rita Weiss and Dover always have outstanding crochet patterns as well as other needlecraft books.Put them on your top 5 best sellers!
