I had this book for a fews years. And wanted try out the patterns. So, I did a eyeglass case with cherries on them. This book is easy to understand & for doing the projects. 5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful!
I bought this book after receiving Mary Engelbriet's "Cross-Stitch For All Seasons" as a gift.I absolutely fell in love with her designs. My only wish is that she would publish more books with cross-stitch patterns of her artwork. This book has many adaptablepatterns for a great variety of projects. If you are across-stitcher...you have to have her books!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
Just recieved it and I have already done two of them.It is definately an inspirational book.I have so many ideas now, it has really given me a jumping off point!I'm going to spread my subversiveness as far and wide as I can!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wickedly Funny, Stirringly Inspirational and Great UnClean Fun
Hats off (caps, visors, tiaras...WHATEVER!) for this delightfully fun and geniously creative book based on what can be an otherwise vanilla (yawn!) branch of the crafty arts.Ms. Jackson (is that Julie, if you're nasty?) has turned her efforts at recreational therapy into a springboard for others who are disgruntled with our world full of pink bunnies and fuzzy teddy bears.Let your creative juices flow after becoming inspired by this new approach to an age old means of artistic expression.I'll be picking up a needle & floss for the first time in almost 30 years thanks to my delving into this lovely little book. FUN, FUN, and more FUN!

5-0 out of 5 stars Counted cross stitch as you've "probably" not seen it before.
It is a book for someone with a sense of humor that loves to cross stitch. The patterns are simple and well designed and the pictures show beautifully framed finished projects. The only problem I see, is that the verbal content of the patterns will not be to everyone's taste. I personally think it was a hoot and ordered the book the day after seeing it at a stitching group I belong to.I admire Ms. Jackson's ability to express herself so well in floss and I fully intend to stitch several of the patterns.I would recommend the book to people with a sense of humor and long time stitchers who are bored with the sameness of the patterns that are out there. However, don't forget what thebook is titled. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Must have for counted thread enthusiasts
Don't be fooled into thinking this is just a cross-stitch guide, though much of the discussion is about cross stitch.Counted thread work of all kinds are included in this book. It's wonderful!
5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic resource book
I have been cross stitching for years, but that doesn't mean that I still can't learn a few things! This book is full of ideas and techniques to help any stitcher explore new methods and understand how to enhance their work.
5-0 out of 5 stars The guide I turn to everytime...

5-0 out of 5 stars Stocking are wonderful
There are so many stocking patterns and ornament patterns in this book. The directions are clear and easy to follow.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this book - and the entire Christmas Remembered series!
The designs in this book are simply amazing.I love the way you can see a full color picture of the finished product at the beginning of the book, and the reference to the charts at the back.I would only recommend this book to an advanced stitcher because of the incredibly detailed charts. In addition, the charts are in color and don't copy over very well into a black and white working copy, so if you are used to having working copy that you can put reminder marks on, this may not be the book for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Christmas stocking cross stitch patterns
There were many patterns to choose from that were varied and very attractive; and therefore somewhat challenging. The hardest part was I needed the stocking I chose to "face" the opposite direction, so I had to mentally reverse the pattern. But even with that, still reasonable to complete.Would not recommend for a beginner. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars cute and cuddly says it all!
Who can resist adorable little creatures cavorting about? I am so glad I bought this book, the designs are . . . well, exactly as the title says, cute and cuddly. Many of the designs are given with additional little projects and instructions for finishing them, such as a scissor holder, thread holder, pajama satchel, even instructions for creating a simple framed card. The patterns are very easy to read, are in full color and seem fairly simple to stitch. This book would be good for beginners and experienced stichers who are looking to add something fun to their stitching library. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Plenty of pattern graphs - BUT NO KEY!!@!
I bought 7 of these as gifts for the year 2005 and was EXTREMELY disappointed. While there are plenty of little patterns, many rather cute, not a single one had a color key! So, if you want to do one of these babies, first you have to sit down with a color card (mine is DMC) and figure out what 2 shades of blue to use, and do they go with all the other colors you also have to pick out?

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple, colorful patterns that capture the charm and magic of Engelbreit at her best!
After longing for "Mary Engelbreit Cross Stitch for All Seasons," but balking at the high price, I eventually picked up a copy for a song in a bargain bin.I am a longtime fan of Mary Engelbreit's whimsical work, and copies of several of her more famous works (Everyone needs their own Spot, It's Good to be Queen) grace my home.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but...
bought the book - love the designs (am currently going cross eyed doing "believe" as a present for my mother).

5-0 out of 5 stars How many ways do I love this book
Although this book is at present out of print a friend managed to pick it up in England having borrowed mine. This truly is a superb cross-stitch resource. The alphabets are divided into various sections such asfloral, antique, elegant, baby, kids etc. As with all The Better and Homes AndGardens imprint this is downright lavish in its use of colour and the sizeof charts. The alphabets are shown finished in myriad ways. It is all here, boxes, cushions, throws, towel borders, afgans and of course alphabetsamplers. It is yet another book to make me wish to live and stitch for athousand years. If I could only ever take one cross-stitch book to a desertisland this with be a real contender. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars William Morris cross stitch
I first purchased this book prior to hearing about Beth Russell. The projects in this book are relatively straightforward and attractive, however, they do veer off from what William Morris was really trying to accomplish (i.e. rich, medieval tapestry, etc..).Please compare to Beth Russell's interpreetation of W. M. I have made a couple of projects from the Barbara Hammett book, but in future, I will work on Beth Russell's William Morris interpretations which capture the Arts and Crafts essence alot better. Some of the skein counts in B. Hammett's book were inaccurate as well.
3-0 out of 5 stars I'm Having Reservation About This Book.
I just received this beautiful book in the mail. Several projects will look great in my American Arts and Crafts bungalow home. I have purchased the material for the Orange Bell Pull and found the materials information for the item inaccurate. Specifically, the fabric called for cannot be Sage Aida 16 count. When I placed all the skeins of floss against the fabric called for many colors washed right into the color of the fabric!

3-0 out of 5 stars A broad assortment of cross stitch Fantasy Images
Julie Hasler's Fantasy Cross Stitch book contains a broad variety of fantasy designs. The patterns are in full colour and contain a materials list and an explanation regarding the significance of each fantasy icon.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book!
I was looking for a good fantasy cross stitch book, and after checking out the three most popular at the local book store, I bought this one.It has the widest range of patterns and with a little practice one can adapt them to suit one's needs.I also thought that the patterns in this book were the nicest. Some of the other books had good patterns for some things and really ugly ones for others.Julie Hasler's book has very nice patterns througout.I highly recomend it if fantasy cross stitch is what you are looking for.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Talented Ms. Hasler
I first encountered Julie Hasler's name at a bar in San Antonio while I was standing behind this one guy waiting to grab the bartender's attention.I saw on his back an embroidered clown face somewhat like the old clown "Red Skelton" used to imitate on TV.I asked the somewhat tipsy biker who did his cross stitching on the back of his shirt, he said, he got it from a Julie Hasler design. He had the same design tattooed on his upper arm as well, he was the first real Hasler fan I ran into. After a few drinks I decided to investigate the whole cross stitch phenomenon and quickly snapped up her different books as they came my way.

I own this book, and it is the best cross stitch medium for Native American designs that I've seen on the market. The charts are large and easy to read. 5-0 out of 5 stars Very Informative
I disagree with the previous review.I think this book does a good job of explaining things that beginners need to know.I especially liked the introduction/history of needlework and the many color photographs included. The book discusses materials and equipment needed to start stitching and gives clear instructions with visual aids in how to do the various stitches. It also talks a bit about designing your own work, and finishes as well as caring for your work once it's completed. This is a good resource!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best books...
To be honest, I had my doubts about buying a book of patterns without any examples whatsoever. However, I do not regret it, because this is one of the most beautiful and fantastic books on cross stitch I have ever owned. Each pattern consists of 3 or more colors and are clearly charted in color. There are different themes on each chapter (fantasy, oriental, magic etc.). Some of them are quite hard to do, but there are plenty of smaller projects which I am thankful for. I do have to add that a lot of the patterns use quarter stitching, which can get on my nerves after a while. Either way, I think it is a high quality five star book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Book
This is a nice book. I like Teresa Wentzler designs and decided to get this on a whim. I'm not disappointed. The designs are not too bad. The dragons are beautiful. I'm not thrilled with the mermaids and the nautical themes, but the rest of the book is nice.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fantastic book for your cross-stitch library
