Great Santa Collection
This is a great santa collection, the charts are in full color, very easy to read.
The Search is Over
This is, so far, the best collection of Santas and Father Christmases I have yet encountered. The charts are color coded, and there are a great variety of designs. This is perfect for someone who knows a collector of all that is Father Christmas! I have even kept several to display myself.

Beautiful and challenging
I'll keep it simple but reiterate that these designs are incredibly beautiful but very time-consuming and difficult to stitch.All the charts are in black and white and most of the pieces require at least thirty or more colors of thread, so if and/or when you decide to purchase or work from this book be sure that you're willing to devote a lot of time and effort to the projects to do them justice fully.If you're willing to put in the effort, you will be wonderfully rewarded.This is truly the best set of patterns that I own.

Options abound here!
What a wonderful book! Clear, concise patterns that give so many options.You can either choose to do the entire Pegasus in the clearing, or just him in another setting, picking out other elements from other designs in the book, or by himself!This is just an example of the versatility of TW's designs.All however, are exquisite in their intended state. Even if you already own the leaflets...
Even if you already own all or most of the individual leaflets that are in this collection, this book is well worth buying.The greatest improvement over the original leaflets is that the different colors of backstiching are all marked differently--no more guessing!Read more

Great "Quick and Easy" designs!
This book is full of wonderful designs that are a snap to work up.I used scraps of cross stitch fabric and left over floss to make small designs that I sewed into gift bags made from Christmas fabric.There are so many wonderful designs it is hard to pick out a favorite. They also make great package ties and the designs can be grouped on a larger piece of fabric to make a nice wall hanging.This book gets used every year and I still have many more I want to stitch.Sam Hawkins is a talented designer.

Great designs, but NO mention of measurements!!
This is a great book with beautiful designs and illustrations. One thing a cross-stitcher looks for (after) he/she looks at the pictures is what the measurements of the picture will be. No where in this book is there mentionof what size (in grid form) the design is or what size it would be finishedin various size material. Why is this?

A hit or miss book
Although some of the designs are lovely, on the whole they are nothing most people would want to spend time doing.On the other hand, the designs for the Twelve Days of Christmas are delightful as are the letters that youcan stitch. Down Santa Claus Lane
Beautiful book includes many cross-stitch patterns of victorian and patriotic Santa's re-created from antique postcards. Projects include framed pictures, stocking, pillows, and ornaments. If you collect santa's or postcards you'll love this book.

Best "Small Designs" Book
This book has been around for some time now and since I'm not partial to small designs because I prefer big projects,I never got around to buying this book,but since Amazon has introduced its new and wonderful "Look Inside" feature I got the chance to look through some of its pages and found that the designs though small are rich with color and detail. The designs are original they range from playful and fun to sophisticated and fancy. The charts are of good size,in black and white but very clear to follow. The photographs of all the end results are included. Some of the designs can be done in as little as 15 minutes,the most complicated in two hours.I'm glad I bought this book,I've already finished a simple project with one of its designs which only took me an hour and a half. With 501 designs I'm sure to find a couple of hundred more to work on.

Good designs but a disappointment
This book would be a great addition to my collection if I didn't have a collection.The designs themselves are great but these designs have been used in other books or are so similaar to other patterns in several other books that I regret buying.The carts are in black and white.They are small designs and easy to finish in a couple of hours.Quite a few of these small designs change colors over 10 times.If you have few cross stitch books, this one would be a great addition to your beginning collection.But if you have a large collection, examine this before buying.

Great Hamster Cross Stitch!
I loved the variety of the designs in all catagories, but loved the petpatterns the most.The three hamster designs were especially adorable andvery appreciated since designs of life-like rodents (especially hamsters,guinea pigs, rats etc.) are impossible to find.:-)I hope that there willbe ferret cross stitch patterns soon! ... Advanced embroidery
This book is for those that understand stitchery with ease. The designs are really good to use with anything, even making bookmarks. This book is for the advanced cross stitcher, or embroiderer.

Mixed Reviews
I like the designs, but the total black and white with tiny blocks makes the patterns hard to read. The designs are good, but lacking in color, so if you feel like playing around with them a bit, this is a great book - especially considering the price. Otherwise, I'd probably recommend staying away from it and going with a more expensive, though much more readable and more colorful alternative.

Waste of money!
Only 4 designs and three of them are awful!This is a leaflet not a book!The jolly santa stocking is not at all jolly and his mouth is gross and he is scowling!One just has a small penguin design on it and another has typical holly leaves spaced over it with a name.The only one that is passable is the Joan Elliot bear on the front cover.The four designs over the title are all you get. Easy and imaginative cross-stitch designs
To me, this book came as an esthetic relief. Tired of flowers, I was thrilled to discover elegant minimalism of this book. All designs are tastefull and come accompanied with a discription of where the design came from - helmets, scabbards,torques. It includes apstract borders and small images for stitching where you please, along with several more complicated images of celtic animals, human faces and such, that look marvellous when framed. Recommended for beginners (charts are in color and easy to read) and for more experienced stitchers because this collection is far from dull.

A beautiful collection of celtic treasures
Carol Phillipson has put together a wonderful book full of craft ideas. Her patterns are based on many different examples of Celtic art. While you will find knotwork and other borders here, you'll also find animal forms, an illuminated alphabet and various unexpected designs taken from jewelry, manuscripts and stonework. Phillipson includes several ideas for the use of each pattern, as well as giving the reader an idea where the pattern came from. great beginner's book
If you were afraid to try to cross stitch before, this is the book for you. A wonderful book to get you started. Everything is covered-how to begin-how to end- and what to do in between. The only beginners book you will need.

This book offers many tips and hints on how to make your work neater and correct ways for stitching. It also has color pictures and directions which are easy to follow.
