Not worth the price.
This book has no ideas that I didn't already find on free sites on the internet.What a disappointment.Ultimate Birthday Party, My Aunt Fanny!!!Save your money.

Not so creative...
The themes are creative as well as the decorations (except for the home made pi�ata which is a little too fake) but the games are really very much the same ones in each of the different parties.You can just read the first one and nearly know the rest.I think they wasted a lot of paper to tell us the same things all over again in each party.

Vintage Christmas Crafts
I was hoping to find some new Christmas crafts to use for decorating this year. I was a bit dissapointed to see that most of the crafts were ones that I've already seen in some older books. I was hoping to get some new ideas. The way the decorations were set up in the book inspired me, though. The rooms looked like an old-fashioned Christmas from my childhood.

A panapoly of enchantments for your home
This a holiday book in the "folly" tradition. There are an assortment of styles that you can easily implement to make your home a fairyland. I was thrilled that there is a pattern and instructions for one of her "dolls." I got onefor this Christmas and I am enchanted. They are more beautiful than presented on most websites. Something new to collect!

Great Coffee Table Find
This book is filled with great color photos mixing a country and cottage style throughout. I highly recomend it.

SCARECROWS: NOT JUST FOR AUTUMN ANYMORE!
The biggest thing I took away from Scarecrows is that they are not just for Autumn or Halloween.There are designs in this book that can be made for any season or even as permanent decor throughout the entire year.Felder Rushing starts off the book with a short, but enjoyable history of scarecrows covering it's uses throughout the world and in early America as well.Add to that some background on their nemesis the crows, who were used as messengers in both Greek and Norse mythology.From there we move to the meat of the book, scarecrow design.
Great book to learn how to make scarecrows!
This book is full of information, recommendations, and tips. Plenty of how to's. This would make a great family project. Calling all pagans!

Visually astounding!!
This book breaks down all aspects of the art of pysanky. But the real treasure is all the wonderful photos of Helen's beautiful pysanky. There are literally hundreds of pysanky pictured in beautiful full page color photos.There are such a wealth of designs that one could never do them all.
Absolutely AWESOME!
This book is magnificent.The price only seemed steep until I saw it; in reality, it is a bargain.The pictures are breathtakingly beautiful, and the explicit step-by-step instructions from a master of the art are priceless.Whether you want to learn pysanky or just admire it at its best, this book is truly indispensable.

Lovely photography but few details and some odd ideas
The best thing about this book is the photography, which is lovely.What is being photographed ranges from the mundane to the odd, and the ideas rarely said "Christmas!" to me.For instance, for the white decorating scheme the author suggests tying string around a white rock and putting it on the napkin in your placesetting.The author gives few details on how to achieve the looks she writes about.I was very disappointed.

Beautifully presented, but not very detailed
This is a very nicely presented book.It is a conveniently sized hardcover with attractive dust cover, and has excellent pictures.It can even be used as a coffee table book. chic craft for the holidays
This has to be one of the most beautful craft ideas books I have ever seen.Mary Norden has a very contemporary eye for detail, there is a touch of Martha Stewartness about the presentation but without any fussiness (Nordern suggests tapered candles in a galvanised bucket, but she never suggests you make the candles yourself!) Beautiful Photos, Short on Advanced Details
Great, creative curtain designs, marvelous for inspiration. There are solid instructions for basics such as estimating yardage, seam types, lining, etc.However there are NOT actual instructions for making most of the styles shown.The occasional detailed instructions are patchy (just showing the basics of one detail, rather than how to achieve the whole effect, and sparsely illustrated)I give this book 5 stars for photography and ideas, but only one star for detailed instructions for all but the most basic curtain sewer.There are many lovely curtains in this book I'd love to know how to assemble.It is so frustrating to see all these cool ideas and then find only the barest coverage of the techniques needed to create them!

Great book for making curtains
Curtains are more complex than one would think and this book does a great job of getting you through the basics and into advanced designs. It book starts out helping you choose fabric, curtain fittings and poles. Preparation for sewing both curtains and shades, planning, measuring and caring for your curtains is also covered. Painted Chairs: 25 Fresh and Fun Projects
Excellent book with wonderful ideas.Easy to understand and great illustrations.

Great fun designs, but not for beginners
This book is full of really wonderful, creative designs which the reader can replicate or modify according to personal preference.However, I found the instructions somewhat confusing and inconsistent in places.I found myself going back and rechecking something that I thought I understood.In addition, many of the designs use a stencilling technique.While this technique is explained in general terms, the book does not provide instructions for specific stencilled designs which use multiple paint colors.For example, a chair with a stencilled beehive is accompanied by a listing of 7 paint colors for the hive.Which color do I use first?How do I create the color gradations? Pretty, but needs more explanations
I fell in love with the chair on the front cover, and knew that the designs would be right up my alley.I enjoyed the pictures inside, and found them charming and inspirational. The colors are beautiful, and the whimsical designs quite appealing. Every time I look at the pics, I get excited about painting.That, alone, is a thumbs up in my opinion!Read more

A Hobby Beader's Opinion
The book conveys solid craftsmanship. The predominant medium is twisted wire. Designs are classic/conventional. Definitely a good source to study wirework.

Contemporary in 1995, maybe...
I was disappointed with this book. Most of the designs are variations on one style of wire-wrapped cabuchon, and I thought they were rather gawdy and dated. The designs were probably innovative and stylish in 1995, but they aren't anything like current trends in wirework.

Excellent Book
I got this book for my daughter after she learned a little balloon making in camp. She loves it and is able to make the shapes with no adult help. There are some very cute balloon ideas in this book. My daughter says, "I'm nine years old and I think if you know a few twists, you'll love it. Most things are easy to make and a lot of fun if you like doing balloons. I hope you try it."

Disappointing, but entertaining
If you are in need of new jokes to crack while you create balloon shapes, this is a nice resource. If you want to create recognizable balloon animals, you will find better instructions in other balloon books. You must have some experience

very colourful indeed
Jamie isn't fond of beige or bland interiors and it shows in this new book. Very well executed and photographed. The cover is made of vinyl in a shagreen look. Very nice. I wish more publishers would do this.

Hollywood Decorating
The Orlando Sentinel called this "a study of sophisticated style with touches of what we see as Hollywood Glam."Think gold and satin and curves.I like adding a few glamour touches to a room, but guess I'm not ready to redecorate the whole house like a Hollywood scene.If you like oversized accessories and bright colors, this is the book for you.

Crocodile tears from a Thimbleberries Fan
Why the tears?Cuz I'm used to the quality of the Thimbleberries books and this one fell so far short.If you are looking for a quilting book don't get this.It has pretty pictures, a few projects (though they are the same as in her other "real" books).This would be strictly for the person interested in decorating or a pretty coffee table book.I was hesitant to buy it because the book plainly states decorating, collecting and inspiration...well I was right.I will be returning this book and I have never done that before. So that should give you some indication of just how bad it is.For decorating it is way too cutesy and it's very thin on quilting and projects.Only good for the pretty pictures.Before spending money on this get it from your local library to make sure you are happy with it.

More Great Decorating, Thimbleberries Style
If you love Christmas, and you love the Thimbleberries "look", you would do well to add this book to your collection.It has a wide variety of decorating ideas, as well as great projects, all done in the simple, staightforward style that Lynette Jensen is known for.This book is a good buy, even if you just get it for the pictures, which are spectacular. Loved it from the first page!
Fabrics are the center of my creative world. I have been sewing clothes and stuffed toys, etc. since i was ten, but then my grandmother got me excited about quilting. i have lots of books and fabrics now, but had no specific direction. i didn't even have a clue, why my project ventures were exciting at the fabric store, but i seemed to stall when i got the fabrics home and looked over patterns. i wanted to do more with my quilts than just ordinary blocks and plain, dull borders. i had some ideas, but couldn't "get it together". i wanted something refreshing to decorate with, and also wanted to make gifts that would be really loved by all, but not much experience in this new-to-me, area. i reviewed the book and sent for it, thinking it would be good, but with every detailed, colorful, inspiring page, it was a dream come true. it gave me the answer to a question, i wasn't even aware of: something's missing, but what? It has step by step, hold your hand, detailed instructions. it's loaded with crisp, colorful pictures, front to back, that are wonderful, - nothing even remotely boring here. like it says, beautiful borders, awesome bindings, and don't underestimate the importance of the backing. there's embellishment techniques that are awesome, and fully explained with words and pictures. your fear will dissipate and joy abounds. It has all the tools and fabric information listed for each lesson, formatted, in not only an understandable way, even for a beginning quilter, but it's beyond inspiring. if you want to stop thinking and start doing, and your eager, but unfocused, and don't know why, this books for you.

very informative
I bought this book to broaden my horizons as far as adding borders to my quilts go and I am not disappointed. There are so many differnt ideas in it that I will be using them for many years to come. My quilts will now be transformed from ordinary to extradorinary with not that much effort involved, just some lessons learnt from this book. The ideas which give you the chance to expand on them and make your own additions should you wish to which is one thing I like about it. The book starts you thinking, then makes you realise that "yes I can do that".
