3-0 out of 5 stars For Beginners to the dollhouse hobby
The authors have created some delightful furnishings, and I would recommend the book to those who are only just starting out in the World of Dollhouses. If you're putting a play house together for children, this book is a good starting point. However, if you a serious miniaturist, and have a more discerning eye for scale, you should probably look elsewhere. I would more highly recommend Nick and Esther Forder's "Dollhouse Decor: Creating Soft Furnishings in 1/12 Scale".

1-0 out of 5 stars A disappointment
I know it's hard to write a book, so I feel badly about dissing this one. However, it is not good. The projects shown are, almost without exception, out of scale and "clunky" looking, rather like a very youngBrownie troop's efforts.I was very unhappy when I received it and foundnothing in it of value.I suspect I am not alone in my estimation ascopies of this book began appearing on Thrift Shop shelves soon after itsrelease.Sorry guys, it's just no good.

5-0 out of 5 stars overall, an easy to accomplish sourcebook
For many years I have furnished doll houses, early on as a child, then came my daughters, and am now in the grandaughters phase of my life. The project directions were very easy to follow (you could tell the authors arehands-on) and my grandaughters loved working alongside me with the fabricsetc.to furnish the various small rooms of their dollhouses. I found many ofthe projects they had no problem in completing themselves while others theyonly needed a little assistance. I feel furnishing dollhouses is awonderful on-going project for generation after generation, and this bookis one to refer to with confidence that the projects will turn out nice andthey don't get discouraged by the friendly writing of the directions. Ihave purchased one for each of my grandaughters for Christmas, as it makesa great birthday or Christmas gift. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
With no embroidery experience, I have been able to recreate some beautiful period pieces from this book. We are presented with an excellent range of Georgian items; from firescreens to stair carapets to samplers. They are surprisingly easy to do; just a little time consuming. I urge everyone to abandon any plan to buy a ready made carpet for your dollhouse; creating your own will be so much more satisfying!5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best
Given that the Regency period (Australian Colonial where I'm from) is my favourite, perhaps my opinion is completely biased. But out of all of Warner's excellent books, this one is my favourite. I believe it has designs of greater variety than her others and they are truly beautiful. They are also versatile - I have items made from this book in all of my houses, which include an 1830s Sydney mansion, an Australian Victorian decorated to the Federation (1900) era, a modern Melbourne townhouse, a San Francisco Victorian with Arts & Crafts interiors and an English Georgian mansion! The projects range from simple crewelwork cushions that will take an hour to gorgeous carpets that may take months to complete. 5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful at all !
This is my first time order the miniature books from here ,normally , I read the miniature books from Japanese issue . But after I received the books from here . I changed my mind atall ! Especially this book give me many many wonderful idea tomake the quilt , rug , carpet ..etc I love it at all !Don't miss it ! U will love this book ever ! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A real inspriation
That's what this book is for any dollhouse collector. If it is true that dollhouses are addictive and you can't have just one, Vivian Greene lives up to that ideal. Her rescue of antique dollhouses from the dustbins of Britain sparked a dollhouse revival that spread to the US and around the world.Yet the book is not full of the grandious rooms of Queen Mary's Dollhouse or Colleen Moore's.It is full of objects and ideas that are well within the reach of the serious and even not so serious collector, as well as period design authentic to each era.Mrs. Greene's dollhouse collection begins with a 17th century dollhouse and continues up to when dollhouses began to be commercially produced. Each is a one of a kind historical artifact. This is my favorite dollhouse book bar none. ...
