5-0 out of 5 stars A very good election.
Tiene unas explicaciones e instrucciones muy claras. Las fotos son muy buenas. Y las técnicas tratadas muy amenas.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
There are several recently released books on polymer clay I'd highly recommend and Judy's book is definitely one of them. The other recent additions would be Kim Cavender's "Polymer Clay For The Fun Of It"and Ellen Marshall's book on surface treatment.
4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book!!
I really liked this book but did have some problem understanding some of the instructions on the Two-Color Tessellation steps 12-14.All-in-all it is a beautiful book and has many different types of items to make, which I really liked and found very interesting. The photography was BEAUTIFULLY done.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Technique Illustration
I have gotten frustrated by books that only show a person how to make product "X".This book teaches the reader several techniques and how to apply them. From the beginning of the book the reader is encouraged to consider the creative process and experiment with their own techniques and designs. While you are learning specific techniques, Tori Hughes also points out that changes in color and style will also work well.Through this she is teaching the reader, not just showing them how to do a project. That alone makes this book a valuable asset to a book shelf.I highly recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Book Humbles Polymer into Natural Basics
I am new to polymer clay and have never taken classes, or even heard of this author prior to the purchase of this book. May be on my way to an addict. I have gotten a pasta maker. So provided you are into things that far, I think even beginners with a reasonable amount of intelligence can deal with this book. The author is very specific in explaining how to imitate different natural mediums with polymer clays (some premo, some fimo, some combinations of the 2). I don't have a great deal of inventory of clay, but was able to emulate most of the techniques, represented with what I had - even if the colors were off a bit. I have gotten a couple other books, and polymer can really get outrageous, complicated, time consuming, and just plain dissapointing when the end result is not perfect enough. This book seems to take things slow and specifically enough to follow and enjoy. And, the nice thing about simulating stones, and natural things is that they are inherently defective, cracked, uneven, and irregular.Even when you mess something up a bit, it can look like it was done on purpose. For the price, I considered this book a good buy for my money.

4-0 out of 5 stars cost-effective exploration of faux stone techniques
This book consolidates the information from a number of her videos... and is a cost-effective way to explore these techniques. And you don't have to watch Ms. Hughes roll her eyes and practice alternative pronunciation of words in an attempt at humor. Her alternative vocabulary takes a bit of getting used to but once you figure out what she's referring to, there is quite a bit of great info in this book. Thanks, Ms. Hughes, for this alternative!... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Making Doll's House Miniatures
My son usedhis sister's copy of this book and loved it.He asked for it for Christmas and I bought it and received itsoquickly, I was impressed.I can't wait to give it to him.It looks very impressive to me, also.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
The variety of projects in this book and the step-by-step explanations, make it a great resource for beginners and experienced miniature makers.5-0 out of 5 stars This is the most wonderful book
I made myself a miniature drugstore since I am a pharmacist and I had trouble finding things like mortars and cylinders. Thanks to this book I managed to make the most beautiful look-alike mortars with pestles and all, also a little turn-of-the-century (last century, of course) telephone. The directions are precise and you can really get what you are looking for (and I had never touched polymer clay in my life!) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Well-organized basic book
Iam rather new to polymer clay but have a bachelor of fine arts degree and have done many arts and crafts, most recently being a stitchery designer for consumer craft magazines.I also have a Master's in Education in art and have taught in the public schools.Having said all that, let me tell you why I found this book above the average, even books by other polymer clay masters. First, this book is very well-organized.It gives basic cane making techniques and then puts those specific lessons to use in the projects shown in later chapters.I found the projects to be gorgeous for the most part, and the artist uses fibers, beads and other media with the clay. The projects make direct use of what is explained in earlier chapters.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great book when used with other PC information
I recently began using polymer clay specifically to make jewelry and beads, and I loved the projects in this book. NOT because I'll be copying her patterns and colors and graphics on my own jewelry as is. I personally don't like some of the transfers Nanetta uses. But the directions are easy enough to understand that you can add your own graphics or use different colors or patterns for your own projects. Also, I picked up several other polymer clay books recently. I find that each book builds upon ideas that I've learned in other books. So this book shouldn't be viewed as an encyclopedia. It does offer some great creative sparks for a beginner like me.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice book but not really what I have expected,
didn't like most of the projects but still there are some helpful tips. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Gingerbread for all seasons
Very nice book complete with patterns and instructions. One of the best available.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have Gingerbread book
I have both of Teresa Layman's books on gingerbread, and this is my favorite of the two.If you enjoy making gingerbread structures, or just like practicing your decorating skill, this book is one you will turn to time and time again. What I like most about both of her books is how clear and detailed her instructions are on how things are put together, and how she uses items and ingredients that anyone can find anywhere, so that it is IMPOSSIBLE to mess it up.And even though the pictures look a bit intimidating, if you break each structure down into steps as she has laid out, and take it one thing at a time, you soon realize how simple they really are - they just LOOK impressive. The Haunted House is worth the price of the book all by itself! I loved making it - so much fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Gingerbread for All Seasons
I was very happy with this book.It has lots of patterns and ideas and gives full instructions of how to make gingerbread houses, lanterns and santa with his sleigh.I am sure I can make these houses come to life like in the book. The patterns are very simple, some are a bit harder but they are all there for anyone to look at.Thank you so much for my wonderful book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Love it.
What I love about this author/teacher's method is that none of the instructions are 'carved in stone'. There is no 'best' way of doing things, only the 'creative' way. Perfection isn't the key, fun and enjoyment are. I thoroughly have enjoyed this book and the previous, Dragons, and look forward to purchasing every following book :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
I loved the second book in Christi's series! Her first one was perfect, and so is this one.I can't wait for the third book in October.

3-0 out of 5 stars Inspiring but difficult to follow
I liked this book for the inspiring techniques. Unfortunately some of the images 'showed off' what you could do without offering true recipes. The Mokumo game looks great.. the step by step is impossible to follow because there are no images and instructions say use ripple blade on one side of a layered block - there are six sides - please! which one? I still don't know. I'm wasting numerous blocks of clay trying to work out exactly what was meant by the very poor instructions. In all, this book is a little disappointing but still a worthwhile addition to your library. I only wrote this review to counter all the 5/5 reviews because they make it look like a miracle book, it isn't but it's good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Many artists with many fabulous projects
This book includes projects never before published. 5-0 out of 5 stars This is the book to stir your creative juices!
Its broad spectrum is what makes this polymer clay book exciting. As the title suggests, the projects included in the book explore a wide range of techniques and materials. The first section delves into the construction of some very handsome projects using polymer clay.Georgia Sargeant has selected an excellent variety of items that will appeal to most everyone. The instructions are clear and the photographs stunning.I especially like the fact that she has included variations for each of the techniques.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars SAVE YOUR MONEY
If you like to create boring items like, a clay covered pen, or fork and spoon, a clay framed license plate cover, this is the book for you!
5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite of all of Lisa's books.
I really love the funky and sophisticated projects offerred in this book.Lisa's classy fashion style is really what makes this book special.I recommend all of her books to my students but this one is just filled front to back with really cool and stylish projects.Another nice touch was the gallery filled with several variations on most projects. It really is amazing how just a color scheme change can make over a project.
5-0 out of 5 stars Superb!
Lisa has knocked another one out of the ball park. I can't believe how great these projects are while being so easy. I expected them to be simplistic, but I am pleased with the level of sophistication in the projects even though they're easy to make. I've already made several from the book and Lisa's trademark style of simple, clear instructions, along with lots of great pictures is making it hard for me to make time to do anything else since buying it. Lisa's first book got me started and all of the tips she includes has made it easy for me to become a seasoned clayer. I loved her second book as much as the first and was hopeful her latest offering would do the same. It exceeded my expectations. I can't wait for the next one and her DVD. Lisa, you have a fan for life!

Editorial Review

Readily available, inexpensive, and easily manipulated, polymer clay is an ideal beginner's medium, and Syndee Holt does an admirable job of introducing it. She sets the stage with background on materials and basic handling, then presents 27 approaches and variations as a series of questions on technique whose answers are full-fledged projects. "How do I make a pinroll cane?" for instance, explains a simple cane process and uses it to cover a candleholder. Other cane methods yield jewelry, a frame, a barrette, drawer pulls, and a covered pen, utilizing both basic canes (bull's eye, banner, checkerboard, blended) and pictorial types (flower, millefiori, star, face, shaman). The final section focuses on molds and textural effects such as metallic and rubber stamp effects to produce brooches, light switch covers, a box, and coasters. Most of the designs are fairly ordinary and there are certainly more exciting books on polymer clay, but this one does provide a thorough, easily understood introduction to this popular subject. Kim's book, Polymer Clay For The Fun Of It, delivers on the promise. She has proven that, fun and easy need not be ill designed and sloppy. Her color sense, her good taste and her sense of humor come through loud and clear. This book is not only a great way for a beginner to start a polymer clay journey, there's something for experienced clayers, too.

5-0 out of 5 stars An endless source of inspiration
One word: Stunning!
3-0 out of 5 stars good book poor quality of material
I really like the book and find it very inspiring. I am very disappointed in the quality of the book itself, many of the pages were torn at the edges and several were not cut apart.

3-0 out of 5 stars Don't get this book if you're looking for instructions
The pictures in this book are beautiful, but I will probably be reselling it on Amazon because it is just like looking at a coffee table book. Once through, and you're done. There are so few really good polymer clay books (The Art of Polymer Clay being one of them), and this one is not one of them. The photography is impressive, the designs are beautiful and innovative, but if you're looking for a book that teaches you something - forget it. This isn't it!

Miniature houses have an undeniable appeal, especially when they're made out of food. But the architectural achievements in this guide are so charming and sometimes so elaborate that it's hard to imagine actually eating them; they're meant to be admired, not devoured. From rustic to royal, humble to ornate, this eclectic assortment ranges from cooking-school complex to child-simple. Some were even designed by kids and could certainly be constructed by them. (Just be sure to buy extra trimmings, since the budding architects are bound to do some nibbling!)Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars I'll keep it but only as a supplement to better books
This book has pictures of some really cool ideas, and pictures of some less-cool ideas. It also has several basic recipes and some general building information, but it isn't very detailed. Most frustrating are the pictures of houses that have only one or two pictures and little or no information about some of the most interesting design details!
2-0 out of 5 stars Really disappointing
If you are seeking the inside secrets to gingerbread artistry, don't expect much from this book. This book doesn't even begin to cover the many gingerbread/food techniques currently available -- and that home builders can use -- which mimic real-life or fantasy -- building structures and contents.I thought that many of the instructions shown were too simple and general -- the reader deserved to read more details, more inside information on how to work with food items to create effects -- especially since the author is a pastry chef! The book's description also promises photos of the Grove Park Inn's gingerbread competition entries. But if you expect to see the competition's top of the line entries featuring incredible details, don't. I looked forward to receiving this book.I'm sorry I bought it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dated looking projects without instructions
The best part of this book is the elaborate instructions in the first half for making dough, etc. The large majority of the projects however look extremely dated - as if a book from the 70's was re-released today. A few I would consider timeless - but to add insult to injury there are almost no detailed instructions for most of the projects. The instructions that are there are incomplete. For example, I liked the breads and pretzel. A couple of lines of very general instructions for each was included but the one thing I really needed to know - what was used for the salt and other toppings - was not reavealed. We were left to guess from the picture.

3-0 out of 5 stars Lots of beautiful illustrations
Kiskalt gives you some very good tips on greating dough crafts and different recipes for creating different types of crafts. There are lots of beautiful illistrations of varied crafts...it's almost unbelievable what she can do with this medium...especially unbelievable when you first try it yourself. This is not an easy medium to work with and have it turn out looking like anything Kiskalt has pictured. And she does not show you any step-by-step illistrations on how she made her creations.I would say this stuff takes a lot of goofs and practice to get anywhere near the level she presents in the book...but it is fun trying!

4-0 out of 5 stars Need An Idea Jumpstart? This book is for you!
I purchased this book because it had wonderful folk art ideas for working in dough. I made two of the projects from the book, using polymer clay and dough. The directions translated easily from one medium to another and turned out spectacular. Also is a great resource for using findings and jumpstarting your imagination on your tools. I did not spend any money on tools and had a wonderful time looking around my home and yard for interesting things I could press into the clay, and then the dough. If you are interested in this craft, this is a great book for you! ... Read more
