This book makes the hobby 'real' for my kids
I purchased this book after my children (4, 5) developed an interest in collecting sea glass after finding their first pieces on the beach. This summer we collected pounds of the stuff on vacation, and the children couldn't wait to get home to the book to see if they had found any rare colors (we found gray, pink and black!).

Glorious Warm Glass
This book provides the best brief overview of kiln techniques I have seen. Clear instructions and excellent photos make new techniques accessible to someone with limited experience and the wide range of skills demonstrated should provide inspiration for even more experienced glass artists. I love this book. I also own and love the Brad Walker "Contemporary Warm Glass." You need to buy them both!

great book on Warm Glass
While 1500 degrees farenheit may seem very hot, it is relatively cool; i.e., "warm" compared to the 2500 degrees or so for the viscous liquid known as "hot" glass.

good for learning the basics
excellent and easy to understand.this book is well written and really helps with learning basic fusing/slumping techniques.

Great for beginners and advanced glass fusers
A great book with a lot of helpful advice. It's not too technical and easy to understand. I've shared it with my other glass fusing peers and each of us learned something different from it. It's a short book and some of the projects are a little outdated but I did great ideas from seeing them.

Good basic review book
If you are just starting out (like you've had a class, get home, and say to yourself "now what do I do"?), this is a really good book to have on hand.It is an older book, true, so some of the kiln options, etc. are a bit dated.But the techniques of finding out if your glass is compatible or the annealing process are still very valid.There's much to be learned from this book, especially if you want the comfort of a good resource on your shelf and available. ... Visual Stunner

Lots of Eye Candy!
This little book shows a great variety of glass beads. I am amazed what some people can do with soft glass. The book is filled with wonderful color photos of completed jewelry. For the price it is a great value.

VERY inspiring for all artists!
I'm actually a polymer clay artist, and I've gotten more out of this book than *any* other book I've purchased/read in the never-ending quest to inspire and improve my work. There aren't any instructions or biographies, just huge, detailed photos of many, many glass beads, and some information on technique and materials.

For more than 30 years, Dale Chihuly's work, principally in glass (but occasionally including such unconventional media as neon and ice), has challenged traditional distinctions between craft and art. Chihuly's oeuvre is notable for its vibrancy of color, the boldness of its shape and execution, and, in recent years, its studied mimicry of natural forms, from cacti to seaweed and jellyfish. The scale of these blown-glass works ranges from pieces suitable for a coffee table to vast hanging chandeliers that drape from ceiling to floor or shoot up like Christmas trees from below. At times, Chihuly's work is merely decorative, a collection of brightly colored, softened glass forms that resemble melted Christmas tree ornaments, sea anemones, squash, wriggling eels, and other organic shapes. Magnificent Chihuly Art
This book is beautiful!I visited the botanical gardens in St. Louis and saw some of Dale Chihuly's work close up. I've never seen anything like it. What an incredible art form this is. This book brings back the same feelings I had while looking at his work in person. The pictures in this book are breathtaking. The great thing about this particular book is that it has pictures of his work located all over the world. Many of the pictures have a location listed and some of them have Mr. Chihuly's comments on the piece and how he felt about creating it. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a general book on his work. I have it on my coffee table in the family room and everyone who opens it up, can't put it down. Every turn of the page brings a "WOW" or "Incredible". Truly a `must have' book for your collection.

Hypnotizing and beautiful
I was introduced to Chihuly through a special on my local PBS station many years ago.I couldn't remember his name, but I always remembered that he was the brilliant man with the unorthodox style.His vision and his artistic talents are immense.This book is absolutely mesmerizing and gorgeous with page after page of color photos.From the "Chihuly Over Venice" project to his designs for the set of the opera "Pell�as et M�lisande" for the Seattle Opera.This book truly is a feast for the eyes and the soul.Chihuly is a master of glass and this book proves it.

Ed Schmid knows his way around a blowpipe
This is flat-out the BEST book currently available on learning how to blow glass. Ed has been working with and teaching others how to work with hot glass for years. Buy it. Read it. Do it!

Best place to begin
This was my first book, and I have recommended it to students since. Hand-written (not typed) and very personal, he lends a good sense of humor and personality to an otherwise intimidating medium. It gives you the feeling that you're hanging out listening to a good friend describing a casual hobby instead of an overly serious instructor. It's just fun to read, and gets you really excited about digging in to some good old molten glass. The second book is just as good as the first. I'd give them 10 stars if that was an option. ... Excellent book on bead making
The book gave us confidence that we could make glass beads. Production has not started but soon will.
The Nature of Glass Beads
This is one of two books that you should own if you are serious about learning to make glass beads. The step by steps are easy to follow. The hot tip boxes are a nice way to point out important info. The pictures are clear and to the point, and follow the descriptions of the action. The gallery pictures are spread thoughtout each section of the type of bead work being explained.

Only 5 star collector book I've seen! Just super!
Wow, is this a mature book.It covers nearly every pattern I've run into, gives a good history and overview of nearly every one, has realistic prices, lists each piece, identifies and describes (yes, describes) how individual reproduction pieces can be spotted.The patterns are listed alphabetical.
Mauzy's Depression Glass: A Photographic Reference And Price Guide
I have purchased many books in the past on depression glass, antiques, 40's, 50's and 60's era. But this book is my far the best written, best photos and gives the best details I have yet to see. I will be looking for others done by this author as well. I was suprise to see all the information that was put into this. Absolutely recommend for any antique dealer or collector of any type of glassware.

I found this book very helpful. The instructions are detailed enough to get a beginner started in stained glass construction.

Thorough introduction to tools and techniques
I really like the BINDING on the edition of this book I ordered from amazon.com, it's a spiral-bound book, but neatly bound in a paperback cover -- really slick, obviously a book that intends to be kept open while you're using it!

A Hot Glass Bible
Many, many techniques are discussed in this book. The book isn't typeset either, the author has written and drawn all text and illustrations by hand. It's a pretty unique book, it covers some beginning as well as some very advanced techniques. There's also a section on Venetian techniques, which I found very interesting. Bible of Italian Glass
This book is awesome!I have just started collecting Murano glass and wanted a book to compare for the real thing or fake.This book was recommended by an avid collector and has become my bible. Well set out and the pictures and descriptions are extremely usefull.

Italina Glass: Century 20
As usual Lesli Pina has put together a wonderful reference for mid century glass collectors.The only comment I would make to improve this book, is that there are not price estimates with every photo.However, this is the exception as over 90% of the photos contain pricing.

Best book for General Murano Glass in the US
I strongly recommend Leslie Pina's book to collectors of Murano glass in the US. While other books have pictures of the more elite museum pieces, Leslie Pina's book has hundreds of pictures of glassware that we see most often. It is a valuable reference in learning to identify and appraise the work of the quality artisans -- Fratelli Toso, Dino Martens, Salviati, Venini, Seguso, Campanella, Cenedese, and others. A must have for the collector or dealer!
Gene and Cathy Florence have done an outstanding job on this book. The pictures are outstanding and an excellent source for identifying various glass pieces. The descriptions are clear and very informative. My only issue is with the prices quoted. As Internet auctions, such as eBay are now the premier source for purchasing or selling depression glass, prices are drastically lower for most items listed in this book. This is also true for other similar books by other authors as well. As on-line auction sites are now the dominant source for depression glass and other collectables, the average prices seen over time on on-line auctions must be taken into account for future values.

An educated collector is a successful collector!!
I recently purchased this book because I not only wanted to start collecting depression glass, but I wanted to know what I was talking about and also what I was buying.The photography is fantastic.The legends are priceless.The summary of each collection provides you with its' history.The valuation of the depression glass pieces allows you to make sound purchasing decisions.This book is excellent for the novice, yet invaluable for the more serious glass collector.Highly recommend!

Stained Glass Designs from Dover
This is an excellent resource book for stained glass artisans.It has a variety of styles and eras in easy to duplicate drawings.Projects range from easy to intricate, designs (in some instances) can be mixed and matched.

Covers the subject like a favorite blanket
I have to say I am not a true believer,in that all the worlds ills can be cured with a look tru a kaleidoscope. I did find the book well done, nice layout,crisp bright pictures. It also started with history, and progressed thru the current crop of people building and experimenting with the scopes. Ms. Baker does a very good job of covering all the aspects of the in's and outs of the different scopes and mirror set ups. Gives the reader looking for only entertainment. Just enough information on any of the chapter subjects to make it clear and then moves on to the next.
Trult Inspirational
A friend of mine, kaleidoscope artist Roy Cohen-Gilad, received this book from Cozy Baker herself, who complimented him on his artistry and beautiful handmade kaleidoscopes. The images are inspiring, the story touching, and overall this beautiful book provides us with a glimpse of understanding why countless people are thus fascinated with this extraodinary form of art.

Magnificent Heaven for Kaleidoscope Lovers'
I have everyone of Cozy Baker's books. Each one is worth at least five stars. I didn't think Cozy could improve on her last book full of the festive colors and imaginations of kaleidoscopes and their makers', but she certainly has. I am a devote lover of kaleidoscopes and have been collecting them since 1982. My collection must be over 300 scopes by now. Everyone of them is completely original, beautiful, and loved by my family and I. I am always looking for more information regarding the artists and "industry" of kaleidoscopes. This book is filled with just that kind of information. I 've been collecting for over 22 years, but found out there is a lot I didn't know about my passion and the creator's that have made a difference in creating it. The one thing I never knew until I read this book was that these exciting, talented artists started out as collectors', just like me. I always assumed it was the artist's talent in either glass, marble, brass, wood, ect. that led them into saying "maybe I should try usingmy art to make a kaleidoscope". This book has taught me that all these spectacular artists are not only "artists", but "scope lover's as well. This book is a gem and you get to see and learn at the same time. Pure enjoyment! Just the same as when you look at a kaleidoscope. I love this book and it will be added as part of my collection and enjoyed forever!
