5-0 out of 5 stars Chock full of useful techniques
After I began taking a stained glass class, I ran to the library and the bookstore. My instructor is good, but he's only one opinion. I must have looked at a dozen books, but this is one of the two that I brought home. I'm certainly glad I did.

3-0 out of 5 stars Mixed feelings on it, but a well balanced book
If you've never touched stained glass, this book is great. Its got accurate info on leaded and copper foil glass, and projects that progress from easy to difficult.
2-0 out of 5 stars disapointing
My biggest complaint about this book is it's design; the gutter width (the "blank' area between facing pages) is far too narrow for the columns of text closest to the binding of the book to be read with any ease whatsoever. One would literally have to tear the pages out of this book to read them without wrestling with the binding.Forget about having this book lay open as you work.5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent beginner's book
I bought this book as an addition to my stained glass class through the local high school. It is great. It helps fill in the gaps and reminds me of what I forgot.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for beginners!
True, at first it does look a little like a coloring book but that's the fun of it. Why does everyone always need examples? What happened to using your imagination? This is a form of art. This book gives you the room to make decisions about the colors and textures of glass you want to use, which is what I like about it. Actual stained glass artists create their own color combinations. In order to preserve these type of books the pattern is photocopied and then each section is cut out so you have a template to use to cut out the glass. If anyone's worried about color then just do what others do. Either use colored pencils to color the pattern so you have an idea of what it will look like or pic out glass that appeals to you. It's really not that hard.

2-0 out of 5 stars Art Deco Book Review
I was disappointed to find that there were no color suggestions for any of the designs in the book. Also, the presentation of the drawings made the book look like a children's coloring book.Several of the designs wouldmake nice stained glass projects despite the presentation. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An inspirational book for your bookshelf
This book is a great read for aspiring mosaic artists and for beginners. The beautiful pictures show what is possible, the text is well written, and the "how-to" part is easy to follow.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful outdoor creations!
This is a great book for inspiring creative ideas for making outdoor mosaics. Well written, beautifully photographed, the book shows original problem solving techniques not found in other "how-to" mosaic book...particularly in the construction of 3-D objects. Ms MacKay is a talented writer and mosiac artist.

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific mosaic book!
The subtitle of this book is Dazzling Projects and Innovative Techniques and it certainly delivers! It's full of rich, vivid, full color photographs and instructions for interesting and creative projects, most of them 3-D.I was very excited to learn about epoxy putty and how to use it to create curved structures out of backer board or wire.A few of my favorite projects in this book: Snake-In-The-Grass, Gazing Face, and Reflecting Birdbath with View.Your garden will never be the same! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A beautiful and helpful reference
I love this book as it opened my eyes to the beauty and rarity of Morgantown Glass (Economy Glass, Old Morgantown Glassworks, Morgantown Guild also included as this company went through huge changes trying to survive the Depression.)The pictures are exceptional, the information relevent and well-researched.The only problem I have with this reference tool is that it is hard to navigate for specific items. The Glossary is wonderful, but a bit murky as to which name or number goes with which item.Regardless, it is a stunning addition for any American glass collector.

4-0 out of 5 stars A helpful guide
I find it difficult to rate any one book on glassware since as any glass collector knows, one would literally have to have an entire library dedicated to antique glass only.As far as this book goes I found it to have a good bit of information on many areas of Fenton glass, some of which I was seeking and some I was not aware of. Overall,it is a good general guide, but as I said previously one would need a roomful of books to cover not only glass in general but indeed an entire section of said library would have to be just for Fenton glass. That being said I can recommend this book for beginners and casual collectors, as for the serious and professional types I think a collection of Fenton books should accompany your collection of Fenton glass.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have for the Fenton collector . . .
As an avid Fenton Art Glass collector, I eagerly devour any new material written about my favorite glassware. In this tome, Mark Moran has summoned his considerable journalistic and antiquarian talents to produce a reference book celebrating Fenton's 100th anniversary of art glass production. The well-written and succinct text introduces each section of a chronological photographic tour of representative pieces from 1905 through the present.Mr. Moran has ransacked collectors' display shelves and closets to find numerous beautiful and rare pieces of Fenton that I have not seen previously documented. Also included is a price guide listing some 2000 items.

Although this book has few color examples in it the patterns are all top notch. I like it. I will adapt some of the patterns, as I do all book patterns, into something more from my brain. This is a good idea resource book. The piece counts my make it more of intermediate use rather than for beginners.

5-0 out of 5 stars Patterns Translate Well to Today's Application
This is one of my favorite source books for designs. I use them in computer application so the line size and clarity are important. Like all Mr. Sibbitt's books, the image quality is high. The designs also lendthemselves well to a little adjustment in width or height adjustment. Manyof the designs have similar components in them allowing one to use them formatching pieces for both transoms and sidelights.
