5-0 out of 5 stars Beginners guide for serious glass painters only
This book describes in detail the materials and techniques used in traditional kiln-fired glass painting techniques. The second edition (which I acquired) has updated material source listings (i.e. where to buy the paints, tools, etc.) and includes URLs which would have been missing from the original. If you ever wanted to make stained glass paintings like you saw in church as a child, this will show you how.5-0 out of 5 stars The Art of Painting on Glassby Albinas Elskus
This book is a more than an excellent tool in the revival of the lost art of Glass Painting. It informs us about the secrets closely guarded by artists and revealed only to family and trusted friends a few hundred years ago. It revived glass painting in the 1980 pubishing of this book, causingthis arts resergence in the glass movement of our times.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent portable reference book!
This book has almost 200 different patterns of depression glass and price lists for them. The pictures are excellent and the size makes it perfect for throwing in a bag or backpack while browsing at flea markets or yard sales. The author, Gene Florence does refer to another of his books which is larger and more in depth if you need more info, but this is my first book on depression glass and I find it has what I need at this point. Of special note is his section on reproductions and how to spot them - very helpful. I highly recommend this book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book! A "Must Buy" for Novices and Experts Alike
I bought this book after learning how to do a couch stitch. After one night of beading, I had learned many different stitches and was creating works I didn't think I could do! This book is a "must buy" for any new beader and I can't help but think that it would also be a good book for anyone who has been beading for a while but needs some new ideas. I checked out several beading books, and really believe this is the most helpful! Thank you Nancy! You've inspired me!

5-0 out of 5 stars Off the Beadin' Path
I have worked thru the exersizes in this fun book and found it to be an exciting and a challenge to me to push the boundrys of creativity a bit.Such fun and clear illustrations what a joy.Easy to follow and well written.Better than a lot of the other bead books I own.

5-0 out of 5 stars Off the Beadin' Path by Nancy Eha
From the personal growth challanges in doing a Discovery Journey journal, to the examples of stitches used in creating original beadwork I have found Nancy's book a wonderful way to get out of the creative stuper I was in after moving from Ct. to Fl. I now can just sit down and throw beads together and before I know it I have a wonderful piece of bead art that all my friends admire, and to tell you the truth some of them envy because they feel I am so talented, (if they only knew the secret was what I learned from Nancy's book.) A must have in any beader's book collection to open up the artist in all of us. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great resouce!
I understand that this book was written with glass painters in mind, but I have found it to be a wonderful resource for several crafts. The drawings are clear, concise, and scan beautifully for enlargement or reduction. The technique instructions were brief, but surprisingly complete. The designs run the gammut from simple to ornate, humerous to mythical, and everything in between. If I only had one design book to suggest to a beginning crafter this would be it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Beaded Sushi!
The projects in this bead book are amazing - very intricate and detailed. There is a wide selection of flowers (tulips, gerberas, roses and dandelions), animals (giraffes, monkeys, mice, etc.), houses, people, and even sushi! 4-0 out of 5 stars Fun Projects
I really love this book.It is packed full of fun and whimsical projects.Diagrams are pretty small, however, which makes them a little hard to read. There are projects for all levels-- a real novice to more experienced beaders.A few things, like the animals, for example, require a very small amountof a large selection of different beads but the designs lend themselves well to using whatever you have on hand.

5-0 out of 5 stars An impressively beautiful introduction
Contemporary International Glass: 60 Artists In The V&A by Jennifer Hawkins Opie (V&A's curator of contemporary glass and a leading expert in this specialized field) is an impressively beautiful introduction and survey of the V&A's outstanding collection of glass art. Each showcased piece is presented in a full-color photograph, along with a statement (if any) by the artist, information concerning its composition, the training, professional, and teaching experience of the artist, and notable critical commentary. A wide variety of modern images, colors, suggestions and themes from classical design to abstract sculpture fill this remarkable display of uniquely modern art.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic photos, not-so-fantastic text
This book contains fantastic full-color photos spanning Wright's career and use of art glass. Unfortunately, the text and editing are dreadful, one has to plod through most of the paragraphs. The writer appears to have been attempting to pack as many words into each sentence as possible; she also has several pet phrases, such as "proof, if proof were needed" that are over-used the first time they appear. A few factual errors are also scattered throughout the book that should have been caught in the editing process (e.g., on page 83 she places the Dana-Thomas house in Chicago [its in Springfield, Illinois]). I still recommend buying the book solely for the photos. If you are interested in reading a history of Wright, there are many more well-written books in press. Five stars for the photos, one star for the text.

5-0 out of 5 stars Spectacular Photographs and Essays of Brilliant Glass Use!
This book deserves more than five stars for overall excellence and its ability to extend your appreciation of how glass can improve our ability to enjoy public buildings and homes. The photographs and essays could not have been better, more in point, or easy to understand.
