Not for beginners
I feel like I wasted my money on this book.Although some of her projects are interesting, her explanation of the fusing process in general was skimpy, and of no help to beginners at all.For example, how long SHOULD one leave glass for a cabachon in the kiln?She gives average temperatures, but no times for actual fusing.10 minutes?2 hours? The beginner is left standing there holding pieces of cut glass and staring at her kiln, having no idea what she should do next. And as for advancing to the wire wrapping and cutting, no way... There are much better books out there, and I wish Ms. Persico would return my money on this one.

Jayne could do better
While I dearly love taking classes from Jayne, this book does not represent her best work.I thought many of the items featured were not up to her usual style, although this book was from a few years ago. She needs a new book.

GREAT Inspiration for Jewelry Maker !!
I totally disagree with the previous reviewer. I LOVE this book and I pick it up often to look at all of the beautiful pictures. I loved seeing the dichroic glass cut into various shapes and then worked with wire. I also thought the wire bracelets with lampwork beads were neat, and not too hard to make. I started making jewelry 14 years ago and I've seen a lot of designs and a lot of books. If you want a book with colorful pictures for inspiration, you fuse glass AND make jewelry...this is a great book to own. ... Read more

A good biographical book on Hector Aguilar and his influence
This book is well done. But, it is not a Morrill and Berk book on an overview of Mexican Silver and Taxco. It is more narrow in scope that its title would suggest concentrating in depth on Hector Aguilar and making himmuch more a personna than Morill and Berk do in their book, where he isdwarfed by Spratling. The photos in this book are of homes and people. Thephotos there are of silver of the Taller are good but do not again expectthe detail to the Morrill and Berk book. Beautiful Jewelry to Make for Mixed-Media Crafters
I'm an avid crafter and have recently started beading and making jewelry. After checking out every jewelry making book in our local library and browsing through many others at a couple of craft stores I decided I wanted to purchase this great book. All of the projects are for jewelry I would love to wear myself or make for others. The pictures are beautiful and the instructions are very clear. There is a project for everyone in this wonderful book.

Absolutely lovely!
If you have ever had a charm bracelet, currently collect charms, or have ever wanted to start a collection - this book is for you!The ideas, history, and photos of the bracelets are all wonderful.It inspired me to clean up my old charm bracelets and, along with my current one, put them on display.They are works of art that tell a story.This book is also a great gift.It has inspired those I've given it to as it inspired me.

I was browsing one day at the Gardner in Berkeley, CA and saw this book. I bought it for a friend and it was so fun that we decided to start charm bracelets of our own. The fever caught on and now there is a group of us that are trading and swapping stories. My bracelet is becoming my history and its great to watch it evolve.

Silversmithing Book
Some great information in here... Not a lot about jewelry, however. Great for learning use of tools, polishing, etc. More geared towards large items like silver bowls and utensils. All black and white, maybe not as appealing as full color photos. Nice reference book.

oops, not for jewery
The 3 stars represent disappointment on applicabiity, not the quality of the book.I did find some useful instruction which will apply to my size scale, like bending flat strips, raising, tensioning and a few other things, but if you are looking for something on the wear scale, this ain't it unless you want to do really tiny teapots and bowls.

Why Do I Do This?
I do not know why I buy these books when the magazines publish all these designs anyway. Nice pics but why spend for the whole book when I probably have the stuff someplace anyway?

Needs more instructional photos
This book has some really nice and inspiring projects to do, but for anyone who has never worked with felting, but wants to, it is very hard to visualize the process. Step by step photos would be a big help. Otherwise, it's just frustrating.

Just need a little more
photos and descriptions of the sample art are wonderful - very inspiring. and very frustrating - diagrams or pictures of the felting process would be helpful. I just can't envision what is being described but I guess I just need to leap on in...

Yum, Yum!!
I got my book last night and had to force myself not to stay up all night reading!! Today, I had the fun of carefully reading thru the whole book. Tonight, I'll get a felting needle! I can't wait to start my projects. The pictures are wonderful, artistic and informative. The introduction is not a history of felting per se but just enough to let you know you are trying an art form that is both ancient and modern. Her color sense for the projects is great and the items look so tactile and sensuous. Having done some felting in the past, it was delightful to see Carol combine lampwork beads and seed beads into the projects to give the items a sense of modern elegance. Complex, Beautiful Knots Demystified
This book is a beginner's dream introduction to knotting. Complete with clear, concise step-by-step directions and large color photos of each step, this text is sure to be an enjoyable resource to anyone looking to learn how to achieve beautiful knot work designs on the first try. I personally am applying many of the designs to some hemp work, so the contents are easily modifiable to your own creative ideas. There are "patterns" you can follow but these are secondary and the book focuses on showing you the main techniques so you can apply them however you like in your own works.
