Watch out!
I ordered what I believed to be a paperback book (as advertised) and received a xeroxed, stapled pamphlet. When I returned the item as unsatisfactory, I was charged a fee, almost half the selling price. So, if you're expecting a book, that's not what you'll get and it'll cost you to return it!

Beautiful early tatting book reprint
This is a reprint of Ann Orr's book Tatting Patterns, first published in 1935 and reprinted in 1940.This particular volume concentrates mainly on luncheon sets, some of which have very large centrepieces.Unfortunately the photograph of one luncheon set is not good and others are rather on the small side so that it is difficult to see what goes where.
Makes me curious...
Who was Anne Orr? No biographical information is given in this book, but Iassume she worked for thread companies in the early part of the 20thcentury creating tatting patterns. Many patterns are in this book, someuseful, some inspirational, but the price is so good, just go ahead and buyit. There are instructions for the "reverse stitch" (which iswhat we now call the "split ring") at the back of the book, butit's is not used in any of these patterns. Why did Dover include it?

A narrow variety of designs
I have both Anne Orr's Classic Patterns and Tatting with Anne Orr, and I must say that this book is my least favorite of the two. With only 25 pages of actual designs, most of the patterns consist of luncheon sets, motifsand edgings. This book would be good if you're an advanced tatter whoenjoys creative challenges such as combining motifs to make larger pieces,if you like the repetitiveness of luncheon sets, or if you're a beginningtatter who wants to make a ton of simple motifs. ... Not worth the money
A New Twist on Tatting was mostly disappointing. None of the designs is particularly difficult from the perspective of technique, but for those of us with very little free time on our hands, the amount of time and patience that would be required to produce some of them is just plain too much, especially for the uses that the author suggests.
Pretty Pictures, Recycled Patterns
There are indeed very lovely pictures of tatting in this book, but almost ALL the patterns are in the Julia Sanders book that is only $3.95.For patterns, save your money and get Tatting Patterns by Julia E. Sanders. ... Read more

Renaissance Glamour
This is a reprint of the earliest known manual of bobbin lace patterns, along with a brief discussion of lace and needlework instruction books of the period, and some patterns worked out from the woodcut illustrations ofthe book itsself. This is not a book for beginners to work from, but anexcellent resource for moderately experienced bobbin lacers and anyoneinvolved with historic costumes of the mid-sixteenth century. A wonderfulbook.

Colorful and fun
There are ten fascinating tattoos of sea creatures in this little book. There's an ultra-colorful blue crab, a stately nautilus, a sprawling octopus, a graceful zebra lionfish, a lovely little blue spotted stingray, an ephemeral sea nettle, a tiny anemone, a sturdy northern sea star, a spiky northern lobster, and a whelk shell.

A beautiful set of temporary tattoos
My three-year old boy got this as a birthday present.Once he saw it demonstrated on "daddy's" stomach (i.e., one temporary tattoo applied), he wanted one.We add one new tattoo each five days or so, just as the previous one wears out.He loves them, is learning the names of sea creatures and giggles like crazy when asked to show off his "lobster" or his "nautilus".I'm here to buy another copy! ...
