5-0 out of 5 stars A complete book on miniatures - quality product
The book is full of all sorts of ideas, though it was small on "found" objects for furniture making. As I am new to miniatures, this book had all sorts of ideas for the novice to the master craftsman.Of course the book hawks back to the 70's and the color of pictures reflect this...the ideas were still innovative and creative.Great detail to every aspect of the dollhouse, including lighting, room arrangements and period pieces.I look forward to making the beautiful furniture featured in this "old school" book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource
I highly recommend "Dollhouse Decor: Creating Soft Furnishings in 1/12 Scale" to anyone interested in furnishing dollhouses or just at looking at pictures of how others have furnished theirs. The Forder's book is arranged by periods of style, and goes into a bit of detail about what makes each period's style unique. The projects are designed for all skill levels, from those who work best with a bit of glue and a pair of scissors, to those who enjoy doing their own weaving. Each project is preceded by a symbol to let the reader know the level of skill required.Yet regardless of the level, all the projects are well explained. 5-0 out of 5 stars Lionel Train Operating Accessories
This is a great book if you are interested in Lionel train operating accessories. It describes most of the popular accessories and how to repair and service them. Great color pictures and even a price guide for each accessory. I have read this book from cover to cover and still refer to it quite often.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Useful to the Bear Crafter
I gave up on the price of this book coming down and made the plunge and purchased a copy.As a bear desingner and crafter for over twenty five years I can say for sure that this book has priceless ideas and creative bear projects for anyone who would like to create with a pattern or to use a pattern as a jumping off point for your own creativity.I can recommend this book without hesitation and will use it from time to time for inspiration or for a pattern from the experts.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent book
I have to disagree with the previous reviewer, and ask whether or not that reviewer actually tried making the pattern.I have made three of these splendid bears, and they came out beautifully. This is a wonderful selection of different, appealing bear styles, you are sure to find many that you love and wish to make. The instructions are easy to follow. The ideas you get from this book will serve as a springboard to designing your own if you wish.An excellent book for anyone interested in making miniature bears!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother
The patterns included with this book are completely useless. They look as though they were drawn by hand with no regard as to whether the pieces would actually fit together. Making a bear with these pattern pieces would be impossible. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars LONG OVERDUE!
This book caters for those mini-fans who enjoy authentic finishes and offers many easy to cut plans for counters, sneeze-tops, display units etc. It is categorised into many inspiring sections such as the basics to start with (tools, materials, techniques, lighting and resources) and then proceeds to 5 superb projects - An Edwardian toy shop, Victorian Ironmongers, Art Deco tea room, Victorian bookseller and 1930 Grocer. Do not think that this is only for this time period - there is so much inspiration! Many woodwork items can be used in a modern bookshop/grocer for example. Plans are included for each "shop" with background info to ensure authenticity. How to cut the pieces, assemble them and finish the shop are all included. Load. Its one of my favourite books & well worth the cost.

5-0 out of 5 stars The art of making extraordinary reading material
I loved this book! This is the latest in my collection books by Timothy Alberts. From beginning to end the author captivates you with attention to detail.Although this book does not delve deeply into the more intricate aspects of how to make the designs shown, most are not for the beginner anyway. The designs featured in this book are some of the finest that I have seen.I would recommend this book to anyone interested in millinery, and eagerly await future works.

3-0 out of 5 stars Lack of Information
I was unhappy to see that this book did not contain explicit hat making instructions. The best example was chapter 5 on straw hats.In the instructions you are told to sew the straw braid together either by hand or machine but did not tell you if you should butt the straw braid together or over lap the braid. No help was given for hand sewing the braid either... what stitch to use?Nothing was mentioned about machine settings either. For example, if you use a straight stitch how long should the stitch be?If you use a machine zigzag stitch what is the best length and width. I was also surprised at the how to pictures in the book.I expected better close-ups.This was my first book about millinery so my expectations may be too high but I still feel the book left out a lot of very important information. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Has some wonderful ideas
This book is chock full of great ideas and includes some more modern furniture..something that many miniature books are lacking. The directions are a bit difficult to follow and have to be read very carefully.Measurements are sometimes not correctly stated. If your unsure..make apaper pattern first. Final results will be much better.

2-0 out of 5 stars Deceptive Title
The book has some very good advice and tips regarding dollhouses. However, contrary to its title, this advice pertains almost exclusively to building a new dollhouse, not with remodeling or expanding an existing one.If it had been called "Choosing and Building a Dollhouse," I would have given it a higher rating, but I was extremely disappointed to find that it could shed no light on my own issues of remodeling an existing dollhouse. ...
