Maintaining your model trains
Excellent....in 2 hours of reading, I was able to get 8 out of 10 locomotives running that were not running before.

Full Color First Class Reference
Good basic information, well-illustrated.Very helpful tips.Don't believe the "other" review; not everybody is an expert.I've been a model railroader for 40 years, and I can recognize good, well-written information.This is a fine reference, and at the price, it belongs in your modeling library.

Model train maintenance and repair
This book was extremely basic with information for the model railroad enthusiast. The book was too vague as to be of much benefit to any model railroader. It only had the beginnings of a book that should have been expanded upon to include meaningful information on both repair techniques and diagnostic procedures, on those problems that are most likely to be encountered. Great overview of model railroading for kids
I bought this book on a 6th grade field trip to the Museum of Science and Industry, after gawking at their giant model train layout, and thinking I needed to do more with the oval of HO-gauge track I had packed away in a closet.Weiss does a great job of starting with the basics of trains and expanding the standard toy setup into a real layout, with scratch-built buildings and scenery on a big piece of plywood foundation.It goes over the pros and cons of each piece of expansion, eventually building an interesting (if congested) fictional town.Aside from the building, there's also some brief instruction on how to run your railroad, for example how trains have to move from point A to B, dropping off cars and picking up freight for fictional industries.
How to captivate and engage the mind of a child of any age.
I have many fond memories of model railroading from my childhood. I remember having trains as a child, and just playing with them. I remember going to model railroad functions and learning about real model railroading. I have always been a curious person, and I have always been a writer. Mr. Weiss's books spurred me to not only read them and do the projects containd within them, but to ask more of my teachers. To ask why this does that... Why X always equals Y. Model railroading is a dying hobby, because the family no longer participates in group projects as often. This book, and those like it serve to show us how as a family group we can become stronger, just by interacting with each other on a common goal. I would highly recommend this book as a father son, father daughter, mother, daughter or son project. The lessons that can be learned from a model railroad go far beyond, share with your sister. I am the author of several books, my interest in learning started because of books just like this one.

How To Run A Railroad
This book gives a very detailed description along with detailed instructions and hints in order for any person to begin constructing a model railroad.Very interesting to read, never thought this subject couldinterest me, but after reading it I would like to build a model railroad asa hobby.Captivates you with all the little extra fun things you can dowhen building a railroad and make it so realistic.Very interesting book. Toy Train Layout

A great book by an obviously intelligent bloke, I personally would have liked to have found out more about the author's family. I hear that his father S. W. Amos has written books on electronics and that his son, JohnAmos (23) is a mover and shaker in the financial services industry. handy reference book
This handy reference guide has current values for all Marx Trains including 6", 7", and scale. Includes tinplate and plastic locomotives, cars, and accessories. Marx HO production is also listed. This is also a convenient guide to current Marx production made by Marx Trains, Inc. An invaluable reference for all Marx collectors and operators.

On the wrong track
I got this for my mother who wanted to get an idea of the value of some trains she got as a kid.Unfortunately, this book did not give her all the information she wanted or thought she would get with this book.It is a very thin book.It does not have the value of train sets.I don't think this book is available in the library, so we couldn't peruse it prior to purchase.It did contain some price guides for some items she has, but not everything. ... After 7 years of modeling... Now this!
I've done model railroading for the past 7 years, started with me first 4x8 table and went to a 12x8 table. I can say that that book is excellent for tips on beginners, but he keep everything simple, witch is bad for acomplex scenery. And isn't a big help on the electricity. All I can say, ifyou`re begining, take that book, if not, pass the ocasion. Excellent, full of simple, cost effective ideas
This book is full of "why didn't I think of that" type of detail hints/helps.Many of them are easy, inexpensive, and really add to the overall realism of any model railroad, regardless of scale.Beginners,intermediates, and advanced modelers can all benefit from this book.Bestof all, many ideas can be done just on a spur of the moment, withoutadvance planning or an afternoon's work.

Great Diesel Projects...

Postwar in a nutshell
McComas and Tuohy put together a great book on the Lionel postwar production. It may not be as detailed as the Greenberg books but for the money it is a great buy. There are plenty of great pictures and detailedinformation on most of Lionel's postwar production. Volune IV "Lionel1970-1980" is just as good. ... Read more

More About the Human Race
The premise of this book is fairly silly. An elderly industrialist billionaire decides that he wants to build an HO guage model railroad across the country. Its going to cost about 3 billion dollars but he has plenty. There is no reason for this desire except that he wants to do it. The idea that he would spend so much on a toy, however, results in lots of problems.
