2-0 out of 5 stars The Period Ship Series
When starting to build the San Felipe, I cast around for any books or manuals that included that ship.I found the Period Ship Handbook-3 and was delighted.I purchased it and several other lesser handbooks that I thought might be handy. The Period Ship book was of no particular value in the process of building the model. The book is very visual and has some great pictures, but they essentially provided me with an image of what my ship would look like tomorrow! The miscellaneous handbooks at much lower cost were far more valuable. As nice as the series looks, I honestly believe that they are more like coffee table books than working manuals.

Modern High-Power Rocketry has been most helpful to me since I am new to the hobby of high power rocketry. It answered many many questions and provided helpful tips and other relevant information that has made my first high power rocket project a success.
5-0 out of 5 stars High Power Rocketry MUST HAVE
Even though technology is advancing beyond this book, this is still a GREAT reference for those seriously looking into high power rocketry.Great information, I recommend this book highly.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's the book I wish I'd had...
...when I started in high-power rocketry.Way back when, I had to rely on information from others at the launch. The information was good, but it would have been a lot better if I'd had this book available. There are a thousand and one little details like parachute rolling, motor retention, attaching wires to an altimeter, etc., etc. Those details are presented in this book so that you can read about them and understand them well before the launch.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars N Scale Model Railroad That Grows
Excellent for beginners.Instructions permit the average person to create their own idea of a railroad. The instructions can be modified to create any layout.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for beginners
For almost a year I was trying to figure out how to get started with what I wanted to do.I had a bunch of track, some rolling stock, and the benchwork -- but didn't know where to go next. This book has really helped, I use it so often as a reference as I go, that it is bent from where I hold it.The part on wiring was great -- not super in depth, but showed me exactly what I needed to know to wire the block, switches, and power.Pictures & illustrations are great and the text is easy to follow.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great book
Filled with tips for beginners and some tricks for old dogs, this book is a nice purchase to people wanting to try N scale or check some techniques on a very practical approach. The only drawback on the book is that while it is an introcutory book to model railroading, it doesn't concern on operating the layout (that's half the fun on model railroading!), but that can be easily covered by other books as well. BEst of all, the book does not present any complex technique, if you are a beginner go for it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Defintive Guide Found
After searching the internet extensively for information on the rigging of Continental cannons and carronades I got pretty much nothing. Within 1 minute of opening this book, I had everything I needed. Reviewing additional sections showed me the wealth of information I had just tapped. The internet may have the information I need, but not at one place like this book. Excellent print, excellent information and the drawings are absolutely the most concise and accurate I have seen anywhere. I hit the goldmine with this reference piece.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good reference & overview.
The book is really well laid-out; generally, 2 facing pages make a section, with text on the left and finely detailed drawings on the right, more detailed secions (like armament) cover several pages, but still retain the overall look. The sections cover every conceivable aspect of the ship, and most periods, with an concise description of each item and the differences over the years and between the countries.5-0 out of 5 stars Will give you a ton of information.
This book is not a manual of help to the beginners. In fact it is an excellent summary of useful references for the most advanced modelers. ... Read more

If you don't have any background in model railroading than this book is a good place to start. It will read great the first time through but don't expect to ever go back to it for reference later down the line.Concepts like control panels, wiring, switches, etc. are all left vaugely discussed, and for this reason it can be frustrating.Make sure you buy this is conjunction with another book better detailed in any areas you don't understand (like wiring).

5-0 out of 5 stars You need this book
If you are considering entering the world of Model Railroading you must have this book. It will guide you from an empty room to a fully functioning railroad. Lots of tips and step by step make it very easy for a novice tomake a pretty nice layout. can't recommend this enough.

5-0 out of 5 stars great for beginners
Although it is becoming out-of-date, it is still a very helpful source for beginners like me. It covers many aspects of robot design around a complete sample robot project. The topics it partially covers are shortly; PCB making, PIC circuit design and PIC programming, legged robots walking gaits, robotic sensors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Impressive robot ever!!!
This book is truly amazing for robot hobbyist like me. I built a different robot using Karl Williams instructions even though it for the robot in his book. I built the robot too and it's real easy to build. I built the main controller board using a solderless breadboard and made the infared sensor board using the radioshacks PCB kits, it was a little different though. For the programs I had to tweak them because i couldn't afford the Picbasic pro, so with my little imagination I got some of the programs to work. This book is a must get and it's one of my favorites too. if you want to built a walking robot this one is worth building. so don't just look and read the book build it and I promise you will have lot's of fun just messing around with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Book!!!
An excellent book if you want to build a walking robot that really works!! I've been looking for a book like this for years. The details for building the mechanics and electronics are actually very exact and accurate. I had absolutely no problems building two of these robots. This book even gives the printed circuit board design artwork for the microcontroller board circuit and the infrared sensors, which none of the other robotics books do. This book is packed full of great practical knowledge like interfacing a radio remote control system, sonar rangefinding, and an excellent robot gripper - among other things... WELL WORTH THE MONEY. I also bought Amphibionics which is also a great book with plans for four biologically inspired robots - a really cool snake robot, frog, aligator and turtle. ... Read more

Actually, I haven't seen the new edition of this book; only the original. The techniques of using acrylics for figure painting are explained very clearly and the photos are very good. Each stage of achieving the final result is shown. BEST OF ALL: The authors of this book do good work, so you know THEY know what they're talking about! 5-0 out of 5 stars The World's Ultimate Dollhouse
When I was 7 years old, my mother, grandmother and a cousin of mine went to Chicago, and one of the places we went was the Museum of Science and Industry. Before we went, my mother told me that as a young girl, she had seen the fairy castle when it toured the country before becoming a permanent exhibit at the museum. She told me how much she loved it, and I couldn't wait to see it. I was not disappointed. This IS the ultimate dollhouse. Every time I go to the museum, you can't get me to leave without seeing the fairy castle.I took my own daughter to see it, and now she loves it, too. The last time we went, I found this wonderful book at the gift shop, and was thrilled that now I could look at my beloved fairy castle whenever I wished. This book is a real treasure, with beautiful pictures of the castle. Anyone who loves dollhouses, and the fairy castle in particular, will love this book. It never fails to provoke happy memories for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fairies Live Here!
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the castle in Chicago, and can hardly find the words to say how magnificent it was! Still, in the time I had to view it, so many details were missed. That is why this book is so great. It not only displays the castle with better lighting, it gives you a chance to savor all the tiny details you might never have seen. There is also some wonderful biographical information on Colleen Moore herself. A must for miniature lovers, little girls, and dreamers everywhere! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Guide for Collectors !
I started collecting Hotwheels cars about 3 years ago. What makes me different than most of the other collectors, is that I live in Santiago, CHILE (here, Hotwheels cars market is very small compared with other countries). Many of the variations and models that exist in US, aren't available here. Mike's guide has been an invaluable tool for me to get those variations I never know that exist or I will never find hanging in pegs in Santiago.5-0 out of 5 stars Invaluable Resource For Collectors
