Heirlooms in Needlepoint
This was quite a surprise for the price.I am quite picky with my needlepoint books and what I bother to purchase.This was done differently than any other of them I own.Usually there is discussion for inspiration and the chart.The entire book may have the similar theme, page after page.This book by Sue Hawkins is really interesting in that it covers various themes- Tudor, Tunisian, Victorian, Shakespearian, Orient, 16th century, patchwork, and even a bargello.There are photographs of the items as usual, but often instead of only charting the needlepoint, there are actual full sized drawings to transfer to canvas easily so that is very neat I think! I bought this sight unseen- a dangerous practice indeed- but am very happy to own it.

Stunning
This is the only needlpoint book I have ever bought that had more than one or two designs that were worth making.The Magic Carpet, Tunisian and Oriental designs are all stunning and the author offers suggestions formultiple uses and colour schemes.I can't wait to get started! ... Read more

Lush, rich, luxurious
These are just some of the words that will come to mind when you see the patterns in this book.Alice Starmore is a genius at bringing simple patterns to life with vivid colorways.Many of the patterns can be used for other projects or crafts, for example, using variagated yarns and converting a cushion to a sweater.There are patterns for all skill levels, from a bookmark to a rug.The photography is wonderful as well, and all of the items are placed in beautiful still-lifes.Alice Staremore's Celtic Needlepoint makes as nice a coffee-table book as pattern book.Highly recommended for lovers of fiber arts as well as Celtic arts.

This book sent me to Ireland
This is the most thoughtfully laid out book of needlework I have everseen--a friend and I wrestled for the only copy at a bookshop when it wasbetween printings! Both the photos of Ireland and of the needlework"at home" are glorious. I've done a few of the designs andthey've turned out wonderfully--my only caveat is that the graph colors canbe difficult to distinguish, as is often the case with needlepoint charts,particularly British ones. Also, Appleton yarns can be hard to find in theU.S., but in these days of the internet, who cares? I'm confused by theother reviews as this is most definitely not a knitting book.

Great Quick Projects
If you like plastic canvas crafts (or want to learn it)and don't have a lot of time this is your book.The projects are all designed to be quick and easy. Good for beginners.I got great results the 1st time.

Adorable Angel Charts
I bought this book because of the adorable Raphael angel on the cover.The charts are all large enough and easy to read, and all of the finished projects are a manageable size.I've seen charts of the Raphael angel before but I was discouraged from buying them because they were too large which means you would have to special order the fabric and then spend a fortune framing the finished piece, so I never bought any of them.But this book was "an answer to prayer!" The Raphael angel, of course, is my favorite piece, but there are all kinds and types of angels in here of differnt sizes and incorporating different themes.I appreciate that none of them are too large and that none of them would take very long to complete.If you know someone who loves cross stitch and angels, this book would make a very lovely gift.There is also an adorable angel alphabet.Just think of the many ways you could use that to make various gifts. I was also very fortunate to get this book used, in excellent condition, for a very low price.It is worth buying many of these books used because you can get a substantial discount.

This book is an excelent addition to your collection.
This is my favorite cross stitch book, I've used it for so long and so hard it has compleatly fallen apart!All of the angels are adorable. The charts are clear and easy to read and the patters are easy to adapt to other projects.I stitched my moms name, JOY, with the angels on letters pattern, did the small Raphael Cherub on 32 ct brown linen and compleated the Herb Angel, each project was spectacular!!I would never lend out this book, for fear it would not come home again!Happy stitching!
