4-0 out of 5 stars Origami for Connoisseur
I collect Origami books. Each book has something new. This one does too but I mostly buy it for some of the known folds such as Kawasaki Rose.

4-0 out of 5 stars A near perfect book on origami
The origami collected in the book is very interesing. Also the instruction is as detail as everyone-can-do. The only cons is the instruction is on the back of the paper you use for the origami, which means either you have to figure out a way to follow the instruction during the process, or you use other paper.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't put it down!
I have been reading this book and folding models every night since I bought it!It serves as a great introduction into some more advanced folding techniques. The models are very interesting and the directions are easy to follow. The book is structured like a reference book and easy to use.The pictures inside are 2 tone, but high quality. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Origami Insects and their kin
I think that this is a fab book and anyone who can cope with advanced origami should buy it. I got this for christmas last year but found most of the models very hard so if you are a beginner, you may wish to try easier origami books by Robert Lang.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb book of origami insects
This marvellous book contains instructions for a range of origami insects most of which are very realistic. Most will take a minimum of 2-3 hours each to fold and will require large squares of fine weight foil, preferably Japan type, for initial practice pieces. The computerised diagrams are clear and concise and accurately drawn, though the models are advanced and will require some folding experience even to begin to attempt the techniques involved.
5-0 out of 5 stars This Book is GREAT!!!
This is one of my favorite origami books ever. I love the models in this book such as the Samurai Helmet Beetle, Satg Beetle, and Scorpion. If you aren't an experienced folder than don't even think about buying it. But if you are than buy it, though don't forget that it is a very challenging book. I have had this book for one year and have never gotten bored. And yes I am 11 and yet I can fold some of the most complex models published. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Look closely at the pictures
I was offered this as an add-on to my order ... so I didn't see a picture of the cover ... this is VERY elaborate - not one or two sheet oragami (guess I thought all Oragami was 3D :)50 plus pages of small papers to make these - then spray paint or seal them- they look like something out of the 50's, but not something you'd want to remember!!I had intended this for my nephew but didn't have enough information to realize what it was all about.May I just wasn't familiar with the whole 3D Oragami angle of things. ... This book is very descriptive. It shows step by step photos that get rid of any confusion that is prevalent in most how-to books.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT FOR BEGINNERS!!!
I had never made candles before buying this book. This book gives GREAT advice on everything from designs to supplies. The projects shown in the book are wonderfully described, and the pictures are so good you could use them alone if you wanted! The author does a great job of explaining the little things that I never would have thought of on my own. This is a must have for anyone who is new to candlemaking!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book
I bought this book for my 14 year old son who has done origami for the past three years, he found the instructions very clear, and was delighted with both the variety of shapes that were given, and how easy it was to modify the shapes to create different designs.

4-0 out of 5 stars Grat book to start of origami projects

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
I got this book for Christmas last year.I've enjoyed using its helpful diagrams to make boxes for myself and for gifts.I was able to easily follow the diagrams and produce some beautiful boxes.I'd recommend this book to anyone who has some origami background and is looking for some fun new diagrams to try!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
The directions were easy to follow...but putting the boxes together wasn't as easy to figure out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super book on origami boxes
This lovely book is a reprint of the material found in some of Ms Fuse's Japanese origami boxes books and contains a compilation of models from some of her earlier books. The boxes are a delight to make though they do require care and accuracy in the folding and must be made from accurately cut sheets of paper. All of the pieces displayed in the book produce attractive results though some do take more time than others.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kumiko Suko's Books opens a new art form.
Each one has brought succulent abundance of devine offerings to feed one's creativity. As a watercolorist the exciting world of color has been understood. Now within the world of Fabrics, Kumiko has illustrated wondrous exciting ways again with color.
5-0 out of 5 stars With full-color photographs and diagrams
Compiled and written by internationally renowned quilt and fiber artist Kumiko Sudo, Folded Flowers: Fabric Origami With A Twist Of Silk Ribbon is a carefully crafted, "user friendly", step-by-step instructional guide to creating beautiful floral-style decorations out of cloth and silk. Full-color photographs and diagrams fill this very highly recommended guide to a fascinating and lovely art, which is especially commended for quilter and cloth crafters from the novice beginner to the experienced and seasoned expert.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Fun!
I was so excited to hear that Kumiko Sudo had a new flower book out! I loved Fabled Flowers and I like this one even better! The photos are beautiful and the patterns are so nicely laid out that I could follow them without any problem. For a visual learner like me, that--and lots of pictures--is exactly what I need. I made two of the flower designs the first weekend after buying the book. I used some of my favorite floral fabrics and they look wonderful. I love Rose Hortensia--little fairy faces peeking out of the flowers . . . so cute! I can't wait to get started on one of the purse designs . . . Marcie in Chicago ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Great designs but hard-to-follow instruction
I was very excited by the designs in this book but I felt like steps were missing in the instructions and therefore, I was unable to complete several of the pieces. I have other books by John Montroll and have not had this problem before. Needless to say, I was dissapointed in this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great designs! Good Diagrams! Lacks some instruction.
This is not a origami book for the faint of heart - or novice folder - by any stretch of the imagination.I have been folding for some years and found some of these designs to be a bit of a struggle.I'd get it... but a little more written instruction would have saved me some time.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great shape collection
John Montroll is a well known name in origami, and he does an excellent job of creating both simple shapes for beginners as well as extraordinarily complex shapes for experts. This book is no exception. This is a great book to get if you're interested in presents, tips or other uses for money origami. Even if you're a raw beginner, you can start with the very simple items, and work your way up to the complex.

5-0 out of 5 stars Still my favorite Origami Book!
I have had this book for about 5-6 years now and IT'S A MESS!By that I mean, dog-eared, folded, written in, you get the idea. This is absolutely my favorite of the many origami books I have.It introduced me to modular origami back when I was just making boxes and cranes. The instructions are excellent and I have made so many models for gifts, decorations, you name it!Fuse's models decorate my bookshelf and have delighted many of my friends and family members. This book is definitely for more experienced folders, however I do have a friend that borrowed the book and had never done origami before, and he used some of Fuse's methods to build an amazing bridge of his own creation. You can use the methods to create models in the book as well as your own pieces of art.I HIGHLY recommend this book and any other written by Tomoko Fuse.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this book!
The whole idea of sexy or objectional origami is lost in the general origami culture. This book preserves a lot of art that was otherwise extremely hard to come by - and most of it is elegant and interesting. I think the models from this book should be displayed at conventions and discussed in origami gatherings, just the same as any other model. But sadly, it seems most people regard origami as something for small children who should not know anything about sex. So, merely bringing up the existence of models such as those depicted in this book is enough to enrage many people. It's very nice to see books coming out on this subject at long last. Hopefully people will learn to relax and enjoy harmless little models like these.

2-0 out of 5 stars Semi Naughty Origami
The instructions are clear, but the items are not. It is a shame because this could have been a very cute book of cleaver items to fold and show off...I will stick to folding cranes and butterflies.

4-0 out of 5 stars What a fun book of unusual origami! :)
VNO is a delightful book and well worth collecting for any lover of paperfolding who also enjoys novelty folds. The diagrams are very clear and models are at an accessible skill level, making them ideal for beginners to the art of origami and easily memorized so you can amaze your friends next time you're at a party, flirting with a pretty partner, or just out enjoying a pint. While at first glance, the more puritanically minded might recoil or take offense at the subject matter of the book, Nick Robinson also engages the reader with an entertaining history of Naughty Origami. In addition each fold is prefaced with an enjoyable discussion of the model - including trivia, history, suggestions for folding and suitable display scenarios. This is one of the few books on my shelf that is as much fun to read through as it is to fold from. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars This book is really cool.
I really liked this book because it explains how to do all of the complicated folds. It also shows you a picture for each step so you can see what to do.I do not think that beginners should start with this book because some of the folding steps are a little hard to follow.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Plethora of Precreasing - Single-sheet shapes!
Fans of John Montroll's other books will know that he tends to follow a fixed set of ideas. These are that the paper should be square and that only one sheet should be used.Outside of a few basic shapes (cubes and pyramids mostly), the use of a single sheet in creating polyhedra is not very widespread.Montroll uses this book to show up that it needs not be the case.4-0 out of 5 stars Succint
For a long time the folding of polyhedras and other variations is dominated by modular origami, a category of paperfolding that models are assembled by many units of the same form. Such technic has been developed into a wildly splended state, for example, see books of Lewis Simon or Tokomo Fuse. However, in this book Montroll still insists on his long-time philosophy-- one single square paper, two hands, nothing else. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected.
The directions in this book can be hard to follow.I don't think there are 100 great projects in this book.Maybe 10?This book is pretty disappointing.

5-0 out of 5 stars What I needed!
I bought this book to learn some simple things to fold in a Kindergarten I used to work in, and it was an instant success! I was sat at the table for hours folding frogs and boats to the kids, and they seemed to really enjoy the creations! This is a great book for parents and pre-school teachers, and it is a great way to learna little bit about geometry too. Some of the models are difficult to understand, but folding is about taking your time. A great way of finding a corner of peace in our rush-hour lifestyle!

5-0 out of 5 stars An reference rather than a book of diagrams
