The models do look neat
This is a pretty good book.The the inside-outside look of these models is eye pleasing and the models are also very challenging. This is definitely not a beginners book.The only thing I did not like is the strange bases the models are built from.All in all a good advanced origami book.

Uninspired Origami Book
The tittle says "ultimate" but the contents are far from it. There's a modest selection of traditional models and several weak original models. The diagrams are clear and easy to follow. This book is geared to the beginner but is so limited in it's scope and quality of artistic expression that it does nothing to kindle an interest in origami." Origami Treasure Chest" is a great book for beginners, with loads of fun models.Try "Easy Origami" by Montrol for similar models, or better yet get Honda's "The World of Origami", perhaps the best origami book available.

Great starter book with easy and more complicated projects
Easy step by step instructions. Color pictures for each step with written descriptions. Comes complete with 2 sizes of paper in many colors and one pre-folded example. Great modular origami
This book is probably the single reason modular origami continues to gain new fans.Pick up this book, and fold the beginning boxes...In no time, you'll be hooked and want to fold every box, shortly after that you'll want to experiment with different papers/colors/patterns/etc.This book, (while fundamentally simple..the charm of modular...) has a wealth of great boxes.The best part is, when you are done, the boxes can be used as gifts, or gift boxes, and look great for any celebration.I highly recommend this book to all origami fans, but not too people who are only interested in finding difficult models.

Cheesy
This book is such a huge disappointment.I had hoped it would be a good, basic primer for kirigami and making pop-up cards, with some inspired projects to aspire to, maybe even attempt. The designs are uninspired and uninteresting.The layout is busy and seemed unfocused.It might appeal to some children, though I've seen far better works aimed at children, so I wouldn't recommend this book for kids or adults.

Can't imagine it being more complete.
I aspire to make my own candles for special occasions. I picked up this book because it looks like the only one I'll need. It takes you from candle-making (rolled, dipped or moulded) to candle decorating and when you're done with that, you learn to make your own candlesticks, candelabras, pots, holders, lanterns, sconces, and chandeliers. When you're done with THAT, you can create stunning displays based on color or season, decorating your home or for entertaining. Every single page has full color photos of the steps of the project and the finished project. You can simply browse the book as an art book - it's lovely. I love the folk art carving project and gold-leafing project. Bravo for a great craft book.

Elegant designs
When Gloria says "complete" she means complete. There are so many projects in this book i wonder if i'll ever complete them all. She has some of the freshest ideas i've seen. Very elegant in the designs and for the most part, easy to follow instructions. A book for all those interested in the elegant side of candles.

Wonderful Creative Book!
I received this book from Amazon, last week, and I am very impressed! Stunning pictures (wich gives us inspiration), great ideas about displays, candles and candle holders. I don`t think this is a beginner book... shegives basic information and some projects about making candles, but it isnot very detailed. I think this is a book for intermediate and advancedcandlemakers. I loved especially the recycling ideas, using old glassbottles, tin cans and so on. Excellent book!
I read this book in the same day I received it. It is extremely informative. The first chapter details the history of papermaking. It talks about paper not only being used as a means to record our history, but also as an art form.

What a treat!
I still vividly recall the delight I found when a friend got this book for me.It was introduced with the notion that, since there were many more beginners than advanced folders, most of the books were for beginners, but NOT THIS ONE.Aha!At last!And it was true - some of the models are fairly straight-forward, but others are still challenging.And, to the best of my knowledge, this is the only origami vulture in existence - it looks so great on a Christmas tree!

Another edition of Rick Beech's book
This is a nice book for beginner folders: it has a nice gallery of origami models and some general information followed by a selection of different types of models. The folds are shown in full-colour photographs rather than standard diagrams - much easier for a first timer to follow, although it's hard to see what's happened in a few pictures.

very informative
Everything you've ever wanted to know about papermaking and more.This book has a lot of detailed information about the history and techniques of papermaking all over the world, but is so detailed it can be very tiresome.Definitely reads more as a textbook than light reading.

Good book for elementary age kids
This book is 32 pages of very simple paper folding. It should get 5 stars for a child user and 2 stars for adults. It appears to be best suited for use as an arts and crafts book for children with adult supervision. I intend on using in arts and crafts activities with nursing home residents. If you are interested in paper folding for your own pleasure get something more challenging.
Great Book for All Ages
I love this book and have used it for years. I've used it with my grandchildren and with my adult students as part of a craft workshop. Everybody loves it. The directions are easy, the projects fun. I'd recommend one for every kid in the family from two to 92. (Hill is author of the mystery novel The Dead Angel.)

Best beginner book and I've seen a lot.
Twelve years ago, I bought this book.I have since bought at least 15-20 different origami books.Hideaki Sakata's is the best book for beginners by far.
Just did them all
I have to say, this is probably the best book on the market for the beginner.It takes the reader from the most simple instructions to the more elaborate designs within a slim 66 pages of brightly colored and very clear photos.The folds are never in doubt, as they can be in books that depend more heavily on line drawings and simple sketches alone.Considering its very reasonable price, it's a steal.The models cover a wide range of objects:flowers, fish, birds, animals, furniture, architecture, boxes, and ornaments.
Top Beginners Origami Book
I personally found this one of the best beginner's origami book.It does not skimp on the "origami portion of designs" using square paper for all the designs and maybe scissors for two diagrams.The instructions are very clear and they are great for any beginner for learning how to make diagrams and interpret the directions for other diagrams.Most of the models are traditional but all in all, in my opinion, it is the best book for beginners. ...
