Expected more
Actually I expected more from this book.Unfortunately, when buying it, I did not realize that it is so thin (not even 100 pages).Maybe it is OK for a total beginner in this crafts...

Great source of inspiration!
I really loved all the projects in the book. They are elegant, wonderful. They are not described step by step, what could make it a little difficult for begginers to follow, but results are marvelous.

I really liked the cards designed by Claire Sun-Ok Choi even though as one reviewer mentioned almost all the cards are square. Simply the Best
An excellent book for all levels of scrapbookers, but especially so for those who are just beginning. Well done.

Refreshing new ideas for the medium-advanced scrapbooker!
I have looked and wasted so much money buying scrapbooking books here and there for these tiny bits of "goodness" in them.When this book arrived I realized I finally found a true inspiration book - no fluff, no fillers, no really basic-how-to-scrapbook instructions.Everytime I open this book I become entralled with the examples....(Ooohhh, I NEED to do that next time...WAAYY TOO COOL!).
Some super ideas for using your photos to their best!

Excellent, not for beginners
The Good:
Fantastic origami book
This excellent origami book consists of a selection of original models designed by David Brill, Chairman of the British Origami Society and one of the most talented origami creators and folders in the United Kingdom.
Fantastic Models
This book will provide some fantastic / lifelike models. This is not, however, a beginners book. A novice will be frustrated over the difficulty of the models. Montroll's "Teach yourself Origami" would be more advisable for people looking for innitiation in this elegant art form. The scene of St George and the Dragon, the Lion family, the Nativity, etc. are true works of art! Wonderful but Abridged!
Though this activity book is just wonderful and full of great crafting and learning acitivities, it is an abridged version of the book we loved when we were kids.The book, organized around the 12 number-it-yourself calendar pages, includes seasonal connect the dots, a paper village to color and build, paperdolls, paper airplanes to fold, greeting cards, Valentines, and bookmarks.The Christmas activities are missing altogether.

Fun, Inspiring, A Needed Change
This book is really fun and funny to read, and opens creative doors in your mind. IT's time for a scrap booking book that isn't about "beautiful people" living in perfect suburbs! I like the different lay out and art ideas.My critique is that I wished for better "how-to's". This is a compilation of pages and suggestions from the scrappers who made the pages, and their stories are interesting. The pages are not shown step by step, like in other scrap book books, and some additional guidance of achieving the art effects would have been good.Overall, an inspiration to make scrapbooks that are about more than my own face or my kid's first tooth ;-)

YES!Finally an idea book that resonates with my soul...
I am a non-traditional scrapbooker.Don't fit the typical scrapbooker demographic whatsoever.I live in a huge city, have no kids, eclectic interests, and somewhat of an alternative lifestyle.I tried, and tried, and tried to get excited about other idea books, magazines, etc... but could never really relate to the layouts and themes featured within. I saw "Scrap City" on a rack of idea books in a store, opened it, and was immediately taken with the colors, the themes, the textures!And more than anything, the way I could totally relate to the themes of the layouts and other projects.Finally an idea book that resonated with my soul and validated my love of scrapbooking by showing projects and layouts I could truly relate to.Aside from scrapbook layouts, the book features other projects, including handmade books, altered art, and more. At the back of the book there is some good information on the basics of scrapbooking, techniques and tools and the like.And ideas on how to inspire your creativity.Definately the book I will be referring back to most often to spark my creativity and inspire new ideas.

Excellent Reference Tool
This book has helped me out with techniques where pattern instructions have failed.Sure it doesn't have glossy photos, but I've picked this one up for help countless times.It even has an explanation for the yarn care label graphics. Its not a book to sit down and read, but great to pick up for reference -- and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Knitter's Handbook - Don't leave home without it
I love this book. I'm a beginner knitter that needs to know terms, abbrevations, and how to do the stiches besides knit and purl. There are patterns on the market that I have no clue as to what they are talking about. I chose this book based on reviews I read on the internet and I'm glad I bought it. It is a great reference book.

More for intermediate and advanced crafters
I am just starting to make caft projects.I am interested in paper cutting, but I have to say that I am a bit daunted by the intricacy of cutting that is required by almost all of the projects in this book.I think the key is to have the right tools, which are conveniently listed in the book. You really do need several different sized scissors. So, in order to do many of these projects, unless you have already invested in paper cutting tools, you will need to buy some good scissors.Most likely you can't just use what you have around the house.However, an initial outlay of cash is almost always required whenever you begin any handmade craft. A good book for both newbies and more advanced crafters
The Waltons have written a variety of craft and interior decoration books over the years.This book is a great example of their work. I guess I just don't HATE my handwriting.The only thing I got from this book was WRITE IN PENCIL FIRST!She really is just teaching you to work with your current handwriting, so practice ... THE END!

I love it!
Shari's book is simply amazing!She uses so many different elements to create wonderful pieces of art!I love how she has put so much of herself into this book.It's like I know her!
A Treasure Trove
Shari Carroll's book is a unique approach to collaging her life experiences. Rather than putting them all on pages in a scrapbook, she has chosen many creative objects to present them. There are so many, but some of them are chipboard made into a chalkboard, old electrical outlets to make accordian picture frames, matchstick boxes to make a collapsing case(template included), wire screen to make a booklet, a darling door hanging made out of chipboard circles, and brown paper bags to make a booklet. Of course, all of these are collaged with bought and found items.

I think this is a fantastic book for the beginning to above average crafter/artist.Of course if you are professional or very seasoned artist you probably already know the things in this book, so why would you be buying it? Beautiful pages, great ideas!
I love this book.I have just about every scrapbook ideabook out there by Creating Keepsakes, Paper Crafts, & Memory Makers.This one is a major favorite of mine.It's broken into wonderfully unique sections new inspiration to "think out of the box" while designing my scrapbook layout. The layouts are great, and just the right complexity so some normal jane scrapbooker like me can do them and has the embellishments needed without fancy techniques.

Might be a big waste of your money.
What a rip-off!As others have said, this book is nothing but a compilation of 2 other books.Do the "Look Inside" trick and on the inside first page it credits the two books.This information SHOULD be fully disclosed in the Amazon description, as not everyone to reads all the reviews.Only by chance did I see this book at my local B&N, checked it out and discovered the hoax.Otherwise I might have ordered it and been really mad because I have the other 2 books.The book "Making Memory Books and Journals by Hand" is the same type of rip-off and again, I think Amazon should include this data up-front, in the description.

Misled by publisher
This book is simply a reprint of Collage Art by Jennifer Atkinson and Collage For The Soul by Holly Harrison.Not a bad combination, but definitely a rip-off for those of us who already own both books.
Nothing NEW!!
This is a great book if you don't have the two it is copied from; I was TOTALLY disappointed and felt ripped off because I do have them. The acknowledgements in this book clearly state that pages 8-11, 12-14, 15-139, and 140-261 are from the original two books-DUH, that's just about the whole book!what a disappointment, would not have bought if I had known it was just a reprint. ... I found the information in this book very helpful in directing a group of adult students this summer in creating sketchbook/journals.

Worth the bucks...but only barely
This book looks nice, seems like a good idea, and is user friendly (spiral bound, etc).However, the problem is that the models contained in the book are sorely lacking.It's most likely true that everyone will find something that they figure is worth their time to fold, but overall, the models are not overly clever nor interesting.Furthermore, for me at least, it is a disappointment that so many of the models require more than a single dollar bill, sort of defeats the purpose to me.(Especially since the majority of the models that require more than one bill aren't impressive to begin with).

First off, let me start by saying this book is a great value. It's only $6 so if you get a couple of good designs then hey.. its worth the nominal investment.

A wonderful, wonderful book. We want to make chocolate boxes and they must be inexpensive, quick and easy to make. This book is perfect - clear instructions, lots of templates. We love it.

soap: making it, enjoying it
good basic book for anyone wanting to see how soap is made and to get practical experience doing it.Has recipes to follow which would give you hands on experience.They are for small amounts, which is fine for making soaps for yourself or as gifts.Also if you mess up a batch of soap, its not so bad cause it's a small amount and would not cost that much.

Correction
I enjoyed this book and found it very useful for learning how to make soap. It contains useful recipes and information on how to make specialty soaps. However, I found one very serious error in the book. I e-mailed Workman publishing company to notify them of this error, so hopefully they will be making corrections to the book soon.
The Grandmama of all Soap Making Books
This is the book that got me started on my own soap-and-toiletries making business, too. It is very inspirational! Ann Bramson even managed to get me to boil down many, many pounds of utterly disgusting beef fat to make my own tallow (I do NOT recommend this -- it will make your entire house smell like a meat-packing plant), but I'm glad I can say now, as a veteran soapmaker, that I did try it a couple of times. I quickly moved on from the beef tallow and lard-based soaps to the vegetable based soaps, though. Read more
