5-0 out of 5 stars Very inspirational book
I love this book. It's very inspirational. Like most people, I work on my cards etc. one at a time but am tantilized to learn about making them in batches when necessary. You need to actually train yourself to let-yourself-go and still produce something exciting. The teaching in this book is great forbeginners, yet still an invitation to challenge for the more experienced! An added bonus is Judi's wonderful storytelling!

5-0 out of 5 stars "They lied..."
Most of us have grown up with the famous advertising slogan, "When you care enough to send the very best..."
5-0 out of 5 stars This is a book I will actually use!
This is a book I will actually use! All too often, I buy a "How To" book, look at it, then never actually do any of the projects. The theme of this book is really appealing-to make handmade cards in a batch. These projects are fun.The text is written in a friendly-conversational style. The photos are fabulous.Just like cookies, if one is good, a batch is better!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book
I bought this book for my 14 year old son who has done origami for the past three years, he found the instructions very clear, and was delighted with both the variety of shapes that were given, and how easy it was to modify the shapes to create different designs.

4-0 out of 5 stars Grat book to start of origami projects
I first saw a swan in a japanese restaurant and was interested in learning where they got it from. The owner of the restaurant said he had made it himself and reccomended this book to me to learn for myself.5-0 out of 5 stars Deceptively easy
I first saw completed 3D origami projects of the dancing crane and peacock done by an older Japanese gentleman, who had lots more origami years under his belt than I, and said, "WOW". Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for starting out
The book is good although if you had bought Claire Sun-ok Choi's other book Designing Handcrafted Cards: Step-By-Step Techniques For Crafting 60 Beautiful Card you would have wasted yur money as every card is already in this book. The cards are basic and easy to make so this book is definitely geared more towards beginners rather than someone who has already been making cards and is looking for a little innovation or something different. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
I got this book for Christmas last year.I've enjoyed using its helpful diagrams to make boxes for myself and for gifts.I was able to easily follow the diagrams and produce some beautiful boxes.I'd recommend this book to anyone who has some origami background and is looking for some fun new diagrams to try!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
The directions were easy to follow...but putting the boxes together wasn't as easy to figure out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super book on origami boxes
This lovely book is a reprint of the material found in some of Ms Fuse's Japanese origami boxes books and contains a compilation of models from some of her earlier books. The boxes are a delight to make though they do require care and accuracy in the folding and must be made from accurately cut sheets of paper. All of the pieces displayed in the book produce attractive results though some do take more time than others.

5-0 out of 5 stars Maureen Taylor
Does an excellent job of organizing and establishing time lines for photos.Very glad to find a copy.

2-0 out of 5 stars Information Vague and Contradictory
Taylor may give readers a good place to start in their efforts to preserve family photographs, but offers information that is both contradictory and vague.5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for do-it-yourself photo preservation
For me, studying old photos is one of the more fascinating aspects of family research, even when I'm not related to any of the people whose faces appear. The military uniforms, hats, parlor furniture, automobiles, urban scenes, and especially the faces and their expressions, are like a kind of time travel, allowing you to peer back into someone's past. Taylor's previous book, _Uncovering Your Ancestry Through Family Photographs,_ investigated that process. But how to protect the photos you already have tucked away in albums have so future family members will get the same pleasure (and information) from them? And how to rehabilitate those you discover to whom the years and the elements have not been kind? This time, the author outlines the steps you can take to see that your photographs have the best chance of survival and describes the methods conservators and restoration experts follow when the task becomes too much for you. She also guides you through the process of creating a meaningful scrapbook of archival quality, discusses the use of computer enhancement and electronic archives, and points out the legal aspects of posting photographs on a web site. Most of the chapters end with checklists and answers to frequently-asked questions, and there are many sidebars and brief marginal comments regarding further reading and useful Internet resources on the subject. Keeping in mind that the technical aspects of photographic restoration and preservation continue to evolve rapidly, this is an excellent beginner's guide and reference handbook. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Great designs but hard-to-follow instruction
I was very excited by the designs in this book but I felt like steps were missing in the instructions and therefore, I was unable to complete several of the pieces. I have other books by John Montroll and have not had this problem before. Needless to say, I was dissapointed in this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great designs! Good Diagrams! Lacks some instruction.
This is not a origami book for the faint of heart - or novice folder - by any stretch of the imagination.I have been folding for some years and found some of these designs to be a bit of a struggle.I'd get it... but a little more written instruction would have saved me some time.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great shape collection
John Montroll is a well known name in origami, and he does an excellent job of creating both simple shapes for beginners as well as extraordinarily complex shapes for experts. This book is no exception. This is a great book to get if you're interested in presents, tips or other uses for money origami. Even if you're a raw beginner, you can start with the very simple items, and work your way up to the complex.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great starting place!
I first encountered this book in the library and checked it out so many times that I finally gave in and bought my own copy. I've made gifts using the instructions and patterns in this book, and found that the guidelines and levels of difficulty ratings are dead accurate. I've used this book as a springboard to go further into this craft.5-0 out of 5 stars Neat little book, aroused my interest in a new to me craft
This is a very nice first book for someone who thinks they might be interested in paper cutting. It reviews different countries approaches to paper cutting. It contains patterns and directions for lots of differentprojects.Best of all, it has things simple enough to convinceyou to trythe craft out while at the same time including enough complex, excitingprojects to fire your imagination. The Polish style was particularlyappealing to me and I've ordered 2 books on that type of cutting. ... Interesting ideas, techniques.Instructions for making cards were clear and easy to understand.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best artistic book for making cards with rubber stamps.
This book makes cards making with rubber stamps real ART. The cards are very Uniqe and the instructions are easy to follow.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not for the Advanced Stamper...
This is an excellent book if you are looking for ideas on how to better make use of rubber stamps in an interesting and intriguing way with greeting cards. If you are VERY experienced at that, this book is not for you. That is not to say this is for beginners either. It is for someone who wants to do "cooler" things with cards and rubber and ink, but doesn't want to take all day to do it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Creative Stamping With Mixed Media Techniques
Creative Stamping with Mixed Media Techniques is another valuable resource and creative inspiration book from Sherrill Kahn. Both books by Ms. Kahn are full of outstanding photographs to inspired dozens of mixed media adventures. Her work is bold and colorful, and incorporates numerous mixed media techniques that are easily accessible to all readers. There are dozens of project ideas in the book that will satisfy crafters, and even more valuable are the demonstrations of painting and stamping techniques that readers can explore and adapt to their own artwork and projects.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic companion volume to author's first book!
If you love rubber stamping and painting on fabric, you need just two books: this one and the author's first, Creating with Paint. I have both books and love them equally-and, more importantly--I USE them extensively in my own artwork.1-0 out of 5 stars great pictures5 star, -dangerous info - 1 star
Again, Sherrill has produced a book worth examining for wonderful pictures, and step-by-step techniques. My greatest concern is once again finding the trademarked material TYVEK utilized in craft work. The makers of TYVEK specifically have stated it is never to be heated or used other than for what it is specifically designed for.Deathly toxic, once more it is appalling to find it used with a 'heat outdoors' statement attached.Does the company know this material is being used this way???As an art educator I must not only be aware of this safety info for myself but for my students.Poor editing let this one slip by. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A great addition to paper doll making
I scrapbook everyday and have a lot of nieces and newphews.I think that this is a fabulous book if you want to spend some time with your kids. You can show them how to remove the pieces and place the clothes on the dolls. There are pages with backgrounds so they can put the paper dolls in the scene they desire. Then sit back and watch them make memories while you take their picture. It's a very colorful and sweet book.I didn't give it 5 stars because I thought the designs of the dolls could've been better.Overall, it's a very cute book and you'll have fun with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super Fun!
I think the fabulous book of paper dolls was very super fun! There are so many clothes that you can play literally for hours and not get bored! When I grow Up I will give this to my kids and say 'I played with these when I was a little girl.' These Dolls are fun, even for boys!It is really messy- But hey! That's what makes it fun. I hate it when people drone on about how there's nowhere to store them. Ever heard of a plastic bag? Anyway,I really Reccomend these.

3-0 out of 5 stars labor intensive
This book is pretty labor intensive for the parents of young children.I bought this for my 3 year old. There are hundreds of pieces to punch out (not to mention keeping track of them after!) and gazillions of teeny tiny pieces of double sided tape to fasten the clothes on with.I think an older child who can enjoy all that assembly work on thier own might benefit from this more than your 3-5 year olds.

5-0 out of 5 stars Card-making Simplified
This book is excellent for the beginning card maker, but also challenging enough to satisfy the experienced.I especially like that each project offers a second option using the same or similar materials. The photos are clear and very helpful with the instructions for each card. Each card project is on a two page layout making it very easy and clear to understand. And "simply" is the key word. There are no highly involved, time consuming projects. You could sit down after supper and enjoy the satisfaction of a finished project before bedtime. In this busy time constrained world, what more could you ask for?

5-0 out of 5 stars This is one for Hero Arts Stamp lovers!
This is an utterly fantastic book.In fact it was so good that I purchased 3 copies, 2 of which are gifts for my sisters for Christmas. The book uses a lot of Hero Arts Stamps in it card designs, and as I and my sisters love the range of stamps produced by this company (we have lots of the stamps in our rubber stamp collection!) you can understand why I thought it would be a great book to purchase. The book ranges from easy and simple designs to more complex ones for experienced card makers. In the first section of the book, you are shown the range of products used in creating the card designs, the various types of inks used are explained, what tools have been used and also telling you about the wide of papers and card products available for card making and how/when you would use them. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Still my favorite Origami Book!
I have had this book for about 5-6 years now and IT'S A MESS!By that I mean, dog-eared, folded, written in, you get the idea. This is absolutely my favorite of the many origami books I have.It introduced me to modular origami back when I was just making boxes and cranes. The instructions are excellent and I have made so many models for gifts, decorations, you name it!Fuse's models decorate my bookshelf and have delighted many of my friends and family members. This book is definitely for more experienced folders, however I do have a friend that borrowed the book and had never done origami before, and he used some of Fuse's methods to build an amazing bridge of his own creation. You can use the methods to create models in the book as well as your own pieces of art.I HIGHLY recommend this book and any other written by Tomoko Fuse.
