Excellent Essays for Mothers

Not a How-to, but a very funny Why-to!
Every page of this book of essays made me laugh, if not wildly, then unexpectedly. Nearly every page of my copy of SCRAPS is earmarked or underlined in part for a funny sentence or paragraph that I plan to reread. The author gives us a wonderfully twisted look atscrewy women who scrapbook (or don't, and wish they did). I love-uh-love-uh-LOVED it!

Need a Good Belly Laugh?
This book is just hilarious! The mildly seasoned scrapbooker with even a hint of a sense of humor will find themselves bursting out laughing at any moment-I sometimes read a chapter in the middle of the night if I am having trouble sleeping and have been quite worried I might awaken the entire household with my laughter!This book sounds just like something my sister-in-lawwould write, so I often hear her voice reading it to me:-)Yes, at one point the authoreven refers to the reader as "Missy" just as she does with me on occasion!I have never met Wendy Bagley, but if she has a tiny bit stage presence, I think she would be a great stand up comedian at one of those big nationally sponsored Crops.So, yes, be sure you buy this book for yourself and any other scrapbookers you know who might benefit from a good belly laugh. ... Wonderful book that makes scrapbooking so easy!
I love to scrapbook but I have the hardest time starting from scratch. It's much easier for me to scrapbook if I have a layout that I can follow. This book has several layouts and it also shows several examples for each layout. At the end of each section it has a page with each sketch from that section that you can copy for easy quick and easy use in the future. All in all this is a great resourse for people who have difficulty making their own layouts or for people who just need to get some ideas. ... Read more

Great book for beginners and the seasoned scrapper
This spiral bound book offers a wealth of information. If you need ideas about how to get your workspace and photos organized, tools, page design and techniques and journaling this is the book you need.The chapter on photography gives many options about taking that perfect shot.I'm not very good at journaling so the chapter on this subject has saved me from becoming frustrated with writer's block and offers numerous choices to make your page complete.A well thought out and organized book and well worth the money. ... Never be at a loss for words again
I love this book.I will never be at a loss for words, titles or sayings again.Great for a scrapbooker, card maker or even a general crafter. Another 500 Heartwarming Expressions

This Third edition in the series is yet another GREAT addition to your crafting library.I am a avid scrapbooker and have found that by just thumbing through the themes.. I can not only find the perfect "saying" or title for a page that I am working on, but I find ideas and inspiration for future pages and even other "crafty projects"!

Excellent scrapbook inspiration for adults
I have been doing crafts for over two years, but have never done done any scrapbooking except to put photos in albums with littel or no embellishment.As I don't have any kids, I thought SCRAPBOOKING YOUR ADULT YEARS would be a good place to start.I was not disasppointed.SCRAPBOOKING YOUR ADULT YEARS contains chapters on all the major categories in adult life.Besides having general tips for "time-efficient scrapbooking," SCRAPBOOKING YOUR ADULT YEARS has the following chapters: This Is Me, Love Stories, Family Matters, You've Gotta Have Friends, Just for Fun, and More Than a Job.Although Family Matter does have layouts that include children in the photos, it is for the purpose of the scrapbooker looking back at their own childhod. There are a variety of layouts using a wide range of paper and embellishments suitable for pages featuring both men and women.I enjoyed the book so much I have sticky notes on practically every page marking the ones that inspired me!I have since checked out from the library another of the author's books that is also excellent called SCRAPBOoK PAGE DESIGN.It has the most information I've found on general design tips with also detailed descriptions of examples.I would suggest both these books to anyone interested in scrapbooking. ... Inspiring Product Showcase
If you're looking for ideas on how to use the K&Company line of supplies in artsy scrapbook pages and myriad other paper crafting projects, then this book will not disappoint. But since the book's title is designer SCRAPBOOKS, I felt that they were too light on actual scrapbooking ideas & examples. Another point that this and many scrapbooking "idea books" fall short on, in my opinion, is presenting journaling and how to successfully use not-always-so-artsy photos to preserve those memories.

Comprehensive, user-friendly, and extremely inspiring!
CYNTHIA HART'S SCRAPBOOK WORKSHOP: A Complete Guide to Preserving Memories in Archival, Heirloom-Quality Books (Workman Trade Paperback, $19.95, 1998) Not your usual book of layouts!
If you're buying this book for more layout ideas, you might want to look elsewhere.Yes, there are plenty of ideas but the focus here is on the entire album - not the individual pages.Cynthia Hart shows the reader how to actually craft an album - from cover to cover (literally).About 90 pages are devoted to instruction, 90 pages are devoted to designs and about 50 pages are of art and templates (which can be copied for personal use).The scrapbook designs range from the usual wedding scrapbook to a rollerblade scrapbook.There's even a horse show book made in the shape of a horse's head!Supply lists, color photos and instruction are included with each design.While I may never be as creative as Cynthia Hart, I'll view my scrapbooking from a new perspective thanks to her book!
