Instructions galore
Finally, simple instructions for the many things that some - but not all - scrapbookers know how to do. If you don't know how to use an eyelet it doesn't help to be told "Insert eyelets at the corners" without being told just how to go about it! Smiley uses photos and definitions and doesn't skip steps in the instructions. In the Resources section, the list of Web sites is worth the price of the book.

Disappointed with this one
Although the book is a photographic delight, if I wanted to see other people's work, I would have bought a copy of Somerset Magazine.
Great Bible for Making Fabric Books
For anyone wanting to create fabric books this book is the place to start.Multitudes of ideas and how-tos are included.Great instructions on how to print onto twill tape with a computer were put to use in my very first project.There is enough information here to keep me going for quite some time.Helpful text book and a feast for the eyes. ... Not what I thought it would be...
Luckily I didn't buy this book, because it did not provide any help to someone who already can use a computer.I was hoping for information on creating page layouts in photoshop or other editing software.Instead I got a lesson on scanning photos into the computer.Most of the projects in here involve editing the photo on the computer, then printing it out and making a regular scrapbook page.I wouldn't recommend it for people who want to do digital scrapbooking.

ifyou are an absolute beginner
This book turned me on to digital scrapbooking with its overview of what could be done.Most of space is projects--which I would never do, but suggested possibilities.The "how to" is mainly if you purchase scrapbooking software--which I also don't plan to do.So, if you know nothing, book is inspirational, although, being a hard cover, also expensive.

Not good for anyone except a complete novice

Nice basic how-to for new scrapbookers, but dated
Joanna Campbell Slan is apparently one of the most popular scrapbook writers on the market today, and with good reason.She writes clearly and warmly, has a winning style full of humor and a down-to-earth point of view.Her books are informative and knowledgeable; they also fill many gaps in the scrapbooking industry. Not your ordinary Scrapbooking book!
This book is not just a book of great layouts, though it certainly has those!And it's not just tips on journaling either.Joanna Campbell Slan does an outstanding job of teaching you how to tell the stories behind your pictures. Excellent Book
This is the most comprehensive book I can imagine on the subject. My creative juices were inspired with the turn of every page.

Beyond the perfect page
So many scrapbookers are so focused on making their pages as pretty as possible that they lose sight of why even create albums in the first place. This book is a short but entertaining and absorbing read that brings us back to the importance of preserving our legacies.

Validating my addiction
I had been scrapping for a little less than 5 years when I bought this book.I never could put into words why it was so important to me.This book says it all.It helped me to see that my efforts weren't futile.My mother, who doesn't scrap, read this book and said that it is an inspiration for everyone.A must read for all scrapbookers and family historians.

Very inspiring!

Helpful Scrapbooking Techniques
I really enjoyed this book.I sat and looked at the pictures over and over before trying any of the techniques that are shown and described in an easy to follow way.Using family [Both Human and Fuzzy family members] photos is a nice touch and makes it more personal, you are looking into Carol's life through her own pictures.This has made me look at Scrapbooking in a different way, for me before it was all about the paper I bought and spent too much on, this shows more how to make the pictures be "the stars" and not so much the paper but yet the paper looks real good too so it's the best of both worlds. If you want a book that will show you how to do some simple techniques to make your scrapbooks look unique I recommend this one and give it and Carol 5 stars. ... Read more

Very good "normal" person's idea book
I thought the designs really lent themselves to my family and vacation photos.I don't need to have exotic tools to complete the pages. I don't have to blow up my photographs to 8 x 10" just to do a page. This book has lots of ideas for using my 4 x 6" photos and maybe a 4 x 6" with a few smaller shots. Very creative ideas.I can look at the idea pages, and scraplift many of them already!

Beautiful, But Not Instructional
Like the other reviewers I love Jill Miller's scrapbooking style which is why I bought this book.This book definitely has some beautiful pages and ideas, but potential purchasers should be aware that while the book is loosely broken up into chapters based on popular products/ techniques with ideas for beginners, intermediate and advanced crafters it is not an instructional book.This is common with many scrapbooking idea books.Basically if you like the work of the author, you will like the book, but you should not expect to read this book and be able to reproduce the pages.

Overflowing with Creative Ideas, Pages, Tips and Tricks...!!
My copy of "Ease & Elegance" just came in the mail and I'm so excited about it that I had to write this review. This idea book is jam-packed with scrapbook page layouts, hints, shortcuts, tips, and tons of unique ideas! Once again, Jill Miller is able to reach scrapbookers of all experience levels with the carefully planned chapters, easy to reference pages, clearly detailed supply lists and descriptions. Her notes and small up-close photos (to show details) allow the reader to become involved in each scrapbook page layout. I really appreciate the additional "Title Twist" and "Subject Switch" suggestions. The cover says "100+" ideas... I think it should read "1,000+" ideas! The variety of methods, tools, styles, and themes combined with creative uses of unique materials (sandpaper, leather, charms, ribbon, paint, etc...) blend together to form this outstanding idea book that is sure to be one of your favorite reference books. I like how Jill included all skill levels in this book. Whether you are just starting to preserve your family photos, are a Beginning, Intermediate, or Advanced Scrapbooker, your skill level will increase after reading this book. Wonderful book
This is a great book! I am very new to using my digital camera and sometimes I find the manual EXTREMELY overwhelming. It was nice to look at this book and understand what some functions are on my camera as well as how to use them. I can't wait to see her next book!

Valubable book even if you don't scrapbook
Scrapbooking has become such a popular hobby and a wonderful way to preserve memories.Our best friends surprised us over Christmas by giving us a scrapbook detailing the exploits of my son in his first year of high school football.They know what they are doing but for us novices there are wonderful books like Digital Delights for Scrapbooking.This book provides many wonderful tips on getting the most out of your digital camera to produce stunning pictures for your scrapbooks.Many of the tips are so easy yet work wonders.

very good
I really liked this one, unlike another "digital" one I got which was actually about paper (Point and Click Scrapbooking). This one is 100% digital with lots of ideas and layouts to snag ideas from. One of the best things about it is that it doesn't waste pages with projects that I would never do. It's just page after page of full color wonderful layouts showcasing a subject/concept/idea. Just Okay
This book was just okay for me.I thought it would have actual step-by-step instructions, but it seems it only contains pictures, and list of items used.It's okay for reference if you want to "copy" the card as best you can.

WOW! Great Book for Tag and Card Ideas - Especially nice for Scrapbookers
I've been looking for a book that focused only on ideas for tags and cards. THIS IS IT! I am so excited and happy I purchased this book, sight unseen. Especially with the crafts books, I try to check them out of the library to make sure it is what I want, but the library did not have it yet.

Nice books, but...
These books have some wonderful ephemera clipart, but it would be so much nicer if they'd provide ALL of the pieces in whole instead of sections and partial cuts. Let the buyer choose how they want to tear or cut the postcards, journal pages, etc. Also, don't cover pieces with ovals or other items. ... Read more

Wonderful Ideas!
As a scrapbooker, I wanted to learn new ways to decorate my memory album pages.This book was just what I needed.It's very descriptive with great color photos.I would have never imagined all the things that could bemade with one or two punches.For example this book shows how a heartpunch can make a chicken, mouse, butterfly, flower, pumpkin & angel foryour scrapbook.There are so many ideas in this one!!I'm looking forwardto Volume 2 to get even more ideas.
