3-0 out of 5 stars elegant but not inspiring
This is a book about bouquets, not wedding flowers overall. The title is misleading. The picutres are very simple and well laid out however, I did not find that there were many original ideas in this book. They bouquets were super simple and clean.I like a little more flair than what was presented in this book.If you like that very plain look, than this is for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wedding Flower Books
I have been going through several wedding flower books and I find this one to be the best! They have realistic arrangments for people on a budget and they give a list at the back of the book as to what flowers are in season when. They also show several diffent greenery items you can use.It is great!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful
I can already tell that this book is going to ensure a huge success at my friend's wedding. We are doing all of the flowers and the book has given us great ideas and lovely pictures. I compared it to other books and it seemed to have the most color pictures in it, which help when you are following the photos. Just like several of the other books by the Knot.com it is well organized and has great check lists and timelines. ... Read more

This book is not only the most creative effort of the Duct Tape Guys (by far), it's colorful (full color throughout), funny, and actually useful as a year around costume idea book. 5-0 out of 5 stars Full of New Ideas!
I'm addicted to Christmas books & magazines, so I wasn't sure if I'd really find anything new or unique in this book. This is the first Gooseberry Patch book I've ever looked through, so I can't comment on how it compares with other G.P. editions, but I did find many cute and clever craft ideas and recipes that were new to me.One idea I plan to try is the Framed Hankie Card Holder that uses a wood frame and 3 Christmas-themed hankies to create pockets to hold received cards (sounds odd, but it's cute).Other ideas I liked for my home using red & white fabrics and holiday-themed tea towels include a Quilt, Tea Towel Gift Bags, Table Runner & Chair Back Covers.A clever gift for kids to make is a covered chip can filled with chocolate-dipped potato chips (the kind of chips that all have the same shape and line up in a tall can).Lots of snowflake-themed gifts, a few pet gifts, wrapping and card ideas.Plus, there are dozens of great, new recipes for food gifts, holiday meals and entertaining (hot drink mixes, decadent desserts, soups, and some new side dish combinations). ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Good ideas, but hard to understand.
This book had great ideas for some great displays, but be prepared to spend some time deciphering it. It's so involved that I decided to wait and attempt something before next Halloween.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Animatronics knowledge
This book was a great guidline for someone like myself who wants to utilize electrical engineering skills and gain knowledge of mechanical engineering principles. I designed a Animatronic coffin with an AC Motor linked with levers to open and close the lid while lifting the prop in snych with the coffin lid. Also added internal lighting controlled by Micro switches to turn on/off lights.
4-0 out of 5 stars Best (and only) book for building Haunted House animations
This is a great book.If you like to build haunted houses, and want to add some moving and jumping animatronics to your haunt, you need this book.Commercial, finished animatronics cost thousands of dollars. You can build them yourself, do a higher-quality job, save a ton of money, and have a lot of fun doing it, using this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book...beware the toe up stocking
I love this book. The illustrations are beautiful and I look forward to making many of the projects.I am currently taking a "Christmas Stocking" class at my local yarn shop.I decided on the snowflake stocking pattern. The "toe up" method is wonderful once completed, however, the instructions were somewhat confusing.Having said this, I would still make this stocking again. My next project will be the felted ornaments and as a self-proclaimed "Christmas nut" I am sure there will be many gifts resulting from this book as well. Thanks so much.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!
This is, by far, the best knitting book I own. The instructions are very clear and in plain english. The back section explains each stitch very simply. The authors offer lots of personal tips on each project. The book, itself, is beautiful. The pictures are crisp and admirable, the set up is intuitive. I love the way it breaks the projects down into the amount of time it will take to complete each one. I have flipped through some other holiday knitting books, and the same old predictable Santa intarsia is featured in each one. These designs are classic and perfect for gift giving.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best book I have purchased
I just received this book.I have many, many books on knitting. Most of the books have a few patterns that I would consider, but this book...I wish I had received it earlier because I want to make every pattern. It is the first book that I have received where I will find time to make everything. I have a pretty good idea what everybody on my list is getting next Christmas. If you want something that has some different ideas in knitting, plus cute, different standbys, get this book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Beginner's Dream
I was thrilled with this book.I am a novice at rubber stamping and I wanted to make my own Christmas cards this year, so I bought Ms. McGraw's book hoping it would be what I needed. It is perfect for the beginner (and probably those who know some about stamping but want more ideas and information). The book is laid out in a format that is easy to follow and not overwhelming or confusing. It is written with specifics in mind.It offers plenty of options giving you room to stamp as fancy or as simple as you like.I highly recommend this book to everyone who loves stamps!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I have truly enjoyed sharing this book with my adult kids and my grandkids.Everybody gets into the action

5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful
I got this book to use as a means of decorating gifts with atractive but inexpensive ornaments. At first I was unsure if the project would succeed, because the snowflakes seemed so elaborate.I was amazed at the effects that I could produced with very little effort. Each of the designs is based on a simple folding technique that reduces the actual cutting to a minimum. When you see the illustrations it becomes instantly "doable" in your mind.I ran into some difficulty due to the choice of my experiment paper: it was too thick and unyielding when folded as needed.A lighter weight paper cured the problem.Origami paper is beautiful, light enough, and already comes in the required square shape.I also found that, as the author stresses, a very sharp pair of sissors is indespensible to keep the cuts uniform through the entire stack of folds and to achieve the sharp corners and turns required for some of the designs.I found a very sharp pair of surgical scissors did a wonderful job, though the handles were a little hard on the fingers, especially the thumb, when cutting through the thicknesses required.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a fun and creative book
At some point in our childhood almost everyone has probably folded paper and cut snips out of it to form a snowflake pattern. Now this snowflake tradition is no longer just for the winter.Following Cindy Hingham's specific folding pattern you can copy one of the 72 stencils in the book onto the paper, cut them out and end up with a snowflake pattern for any holiday. The patterns include hourglasses for New Years, hearts, arrows, cupids, and lips for Valentines, shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day, bunnies, lilies and baby chicks for Easter, Liberty Bells, and stars for the Fourth of July, pumpkins, black cats, owls, and ghosts for Halloween, Christmas bells, and snowmen for Christmas, teddy bears, dogs, cats, butterflies, love birds, and many others.Snowflakes for All Seasons is a very creative and fun craft book for children and adults and is very highly recommended. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Unique style beautifully presented
This book covers the architectural aspects of the property surrounding the bungalow - gates, arbors, fences, walls, paths, steps, water features, courtyards, patios, pergolas, porches, outdoor furniture, etc. The photography and color illustrations are superb and it is hard to take your eyes off the photos to actually read the text! And although the photos were taken at the present, the authors have not neglected the history of these dwellings and have included beautiful colored postcards that were so popular during the 1920s and 1930s. An introductory sections discusses the movers and shakers of the Arts and Crafts Movement, like William Morris, William Robinson, Gertrude Jekyll and Gustav Stickley. The final chapter is devoted to the architectural firm of Greene and Greene, whose style was a major influence. Most of the houses and gardens photographed here are on the West Coast (mainly Seattle, WA, Portland, OR and Pasadena, CA) although there are some Rhode Island properties included as well. A final section is devoted to planting the garden and includes lists of plants which are good for any situation imaginable. This is a wonderful book - beautiful, unique and inspiring!

5-0 out of 5 stars Nothing like it.....
Disclaimer: I'm a bit biased, because its my home on the cover, despite this, the book is a crucial tool, there was so obvious a need for a book on this topic, one that relates to what people were wanting to do with their homes, and helping them to avoid. to a point, having to scrounge through years of bound periodicals in the library, and random drives through promising neighborhoods in search of inspiring examples....not that you would get to see the back yards.5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for creating a "complete" environment
What a great resource for those who feel that their home begins outside inits surroundings. The bungalow has never really gone out of style andcontinues to hold national appeal. This book is full of ideas that crossthe spectrum from simple to ellegant. It draws the reader outside of thebungalow and gives one cause to reflect on making the outside environmentbeautiful, comfortable, unique and completmentary to the structure itself. Many of the small towns in Southern California have undergone a secondlife with downtown revitalization projects that have extented into theolder neighborhoods.Duchscherer & Keister give the reader anappreciation for the beauty that can be created around these olderhomes.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Applique at a Great Value!
This is a book that is jam packed with beautiful applique quilt patterns based on nativity themes. It includes instructions for a lovely tree skirt and other decorative quilt projects. I've seen patterns like these offered block of the month style at $7 to $12 per block ... Here you have many usable, detailed designs and configurations all for the price of one book. If you shy away from detailed applique, this book probably isn't for you. However, if you are a quilter looking for projects that focus on the spiritual meaning of Christmas, and enjoy McKenna Ryan or Mount Redoubt style applique designs, you will enjoy making the projects in this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nativity Designs & Journal Put the Spirit Back into Christmas
Rachel Brown's book, Adoration Quilts: Applique Nativity Projects, is much more than a how to book for Christmas quilts. While the illustrations and directions in this book clearly teach the reader how to construct attractive Christmas quilts, there is a story here. Ms. Brown takes you on a Biblical and personal journey with each quilt block. She puts the spiritual element back into Christmas by sharing her family traditions. After reading the role each block plays in telling the story of Jesus's birth, I felt better prepared to tell the story, creating my own nativity quilt.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
This book was great for helping plan my son's kindergarten valentine party. The snack ideas were super and pretty easy to assemble. The highlight of the book is the valentine bingo game where everyone wins at the same time. The children just loved the game as they all shouted "bingo" at the same time.We also did the ice cube game and the cupid game. Both were also big hits with the children!I would highly recommend this book for any class parent needing some creative ideas for kids from 5+.

I really loved all the projects in the book. They are elegant, wonderful. They are not described step by step, what could make it a little difficult for begginers to follow, but results are marvelous.

I really liked the cards designed by Claire Sun-Ok Choi even though as one reviewer mentioned almost all the cards are square. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great book
I bought this book hoping that it would have some fresh ideas for my kids' class parties instead of the same old games and crafts we've been doing it seems year after year.I was worried that even if it had new ideas they might be too invovled/time-consuming for the hour and a half we typically have for the whole party.I was pleasantly surprised that this book had so many ideas to choose from that were original and fit into our limited time frame.I highly recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a Bargain!
I have had a blast knitting Christmas stockings for the whole family with this book. The great thing is, with one book, you have almost unlimited patterns available (much cheaper than buying a kit or a pattern for each stocking!), and yet everyone can choose a pattern that expresses his or her individuality. My husband chose the simple "Rustic Lodge" stocking, while I wanted the more challenging "Lace Brocade."And with the mix-and-match stocking, you really could have endless possibilities. The instructions were clear, although even when you use the exact yarn and needles described, check your gauge (you can't be off when you're knitting on a circular needle!).5-0 out of 5 stars Great Stocking Patterns
I loved this book much like it's counter parts, Knit Mittens and Knit Hats. I have made 6 stockings so far and intend to knit more. The patterns are explicit enough for the novice knitter. However there are patterns for the experienced knitter as well. I enjoy the shape of these books (they take me back to my childhood). I highly recommend this book. The "elves" have done well with this one. Merry Christmas! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice general book
This is a very readable book - Bonney puts words together well. Not a "must have" in a beekeeper's library but a good general discussion of relevant topics. Assumes basic beekeeping knowledge. Overlaps with his beginner's book (Beekeeping: a Complete Guide); this would be aptly titled "Your Second Year as a Beekeeper."

5-0 out of 5 stars This one is a keeper (pun intended).
In the past year I have borrowed from the library all the books I could find about beekeeping .This is one I plan to add to my personal library.

4-0 out of 5 stars First book in the series
Let me say that this is a nice book. But, it doesn't have all the color photos, details and recipes that the later editions do so if you have those, don't expect the same with this one.I buy these for friends annually because they are that great and this one is pretty good.I think the third and fourth are the best so far, and this one is just average. The recipes are incredible, however, so it is worth the price of admission just for those.I love these books and it's hard to be disappointed with them once you start using them. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Just Great
Our family has known Ms. Cleeland for many years, in fact she dressed our son in her costumes and he always won first place. You will so enjoy all her ideas, but most of all you will find her costumes simple to make. You will have bunches of fun making the costumes but most of all your kids will love wearing them
